Nice Tein coilovers the little details make it great.

Wow. It looks fantastic!

Perfect color for a 40 Ford!
-
Great job on an interesting subject.

Looks slick. I love the exhaust coming out of the fender.
-
Looks great!

Actually the window trim is there- the color just makes it hard to see. Really sucks too because it's my first time doing so much foiling and I didn't do too bad! Thanks for the compliments guys!

Nice sedan delivery! Clean build.

Look at it, see something that is obviously poorly designed and just put it back for another day? Was going through my stash of older kits today, and twice I did this. First with an old Monogram '71 'Cuda, the front and rear valences were so poorly designed and would be nearly impossible to get into place on the finished model, and again on an AMT '53 Corvette where the front and rear valences were so far off it would've required some serious bodywork to get them lined up. Thankfully I've got a couple modern kits to build.

Great color, great mild custom!

Having not completed a model in over a year, I decided I'd go through my stash and build something simple but fun. AMT Olds 442 kit built as a "Day 2" car, completely OOB except air cleaner and scratchbuilt exhaust using the kit's mufflers. I'm a little unhappy with the stance (seems a little nose-up) but not unhappy enough to pull it apart and although I put in a lot of sanding to make them go away, the mold lines on the B-pillar are still somewhat noticeable. This was my first time using embossing powder for carpet and I love it. Also my first time using BMF to this extent- there's a lot of trim on this car- and although it's not perfect, I'm quite happy with how it came out. Comments and constructive criticism welcome.

I hope there is more to the story but with the situation as it is I doubt it. So unfortunate. -
Yeah that color really pops!

First Build - Painting Advice
TheRX7Project replied to vroomvroom's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If you have a Hobby Lobby or Michael's around, you can get Model Master lacquers as well, but yeah, Tamiya lacquer in a can is almost impossible to screw up. Just remember to lay down a couple THIN coats of primer first. My paint jobs look a hundred times better since I switched from enamels to lacquers, and I don't even buff mine out. The lacquer is thinner and seems like it has no problems laying down very smooth. Also remember that lacquer is a 3-part deal- in addition to the primer and color coats, you want to lay down some clear on top of it all. There's also a lot of very good tutorials on how to paint right on this site. Check them out. As far as your other questions- You can see the engine if you don't glue the hood down. It's neat to be able to pop the hood on your model and show the detail work you've put into the engine bay. As far as painting before you glue, there are a couple theories on this. I'll look at subassemblies and determine what parts are getting glued together that are the same color, and paint them as a unit. Some people paint everything separately then glue them together. That's really a personal preference. -

For those of you in the Milwaukee area, you may or may not know that one of the best, biggest hobby stores is closing their doors. Greenfield News and Hobby is closing after almost 50 years. The owners are retiring and couldn't find a buyer. Another great local shop we're losing to attrition. Sad to see this place go. They had anything and everything, from trains to r/c, from military models to art supplies. They were also the place to go for niche-market magazines, comics, and books. I wish the owners well in their retirement, and thank them for their dedication to hobbies. They put up a sign Wednesday and the place has already been pretty much cleared out. I was there today and there were lines like I've never seen before. I picked up a couple kits and a bunch of cans of assorted spray paints, and actually bought one of their store displays for my Hotwheels collection. If you have a chance, stop by, maybe you'll find a thing or two that you've been looking for. There's not a ton of model car stuff left. -
Wow. Just wow.

AMT: 1956 Ford Victoria Drag and Custom Version
TheRX7Project replied to John Teresi's topic in Model Cars
Both look phenomenal. Is that embossing powder for carpet or what did you do? -
Awesome color!

I'd love to see some "after" pics of the "modelrally"

Mine is going to be Model Master GM Teal metallic. I didn't make any chassis mods to mine so it sits a little high. Drilled out the wheel backs and added disc brakes.
-
You're never going to believe this, but I am building the exact same car with the exact same wheels right now!

Having some real trouble with paint.

I don't mind spending the extra coin for the exterior color. I figure that's what most people see. My current project will be Model Master Bright Aqua Pearl over Tamiya primer. FWIW I painted the interior Fusion Dover White satin, with no primer, and it hasn't crazed or wrinkled or anything. I really think there might have been something on the plastic.
