  1. Back in about 2002, my dad picked up a CLEAN '71 Javelin. At the time I already had two project cars- a '53 Studebaker and a '69 Bradley GT kit car, but I really liked that Javelin. My dad put it up for sale and it was gone almost right away. What sucks even worse is that the people he sold it to let it get impounded for parking tickets and never recovered it (as far as we know). I hope it got auctioned rather than crushed. Before that, in about 1998, I had the opportunity to buy a near-mint, low-miles AMC Pacer DL wagon. For $200. The owner parked it in the early '80s after tagging a curb in a snowstorm and bending one of the control arms. I had it bad for that Pacer, I just had nowhere to put it.
  2. Those would probably classify as "splitters" just FYI And yes, the car looks amazing!
  3. That Dart is sharp! (pun intended)
  4. Thanks. I did notice those too after I had laid a coat or two of paint, and didn't want to go back and fix it. I appreciate the constructive criticism however.
  5. You nailed your inspiration. One sweet ride!
  6. The redline wheels really set that thing off. Nice build!
  7. AMT kit, the issue molded in dark purple. No I didn't use the non-toxic blue tube glue it came with! Lots and lots of fitment issues on final assembly. Finally said "screw it and glue it". Paint is Tamiya racing white over silver leaf, with Testors Wet Look to finish it off. Front nose decal from Revell's '31 Model A kit. Box stock except the steering wheel which is from the parts bin, scratchbuilt door handles and window cranks, shaved emblems/holders off, and I added two tabs to help with the poor windsheild fitment. Anyway, enjoy. Comments, criticisms and compliments all welcome.
  8. Hey just noticed this post. I'm from the Miller Park area. Also wanted to note that since you're bringing up cruise nights, I found this: http://www.wednesdaynightclassics.com/cgi-bin/Calcium38.pl/Calcium38.pl?CalendarName=wnccalendar&Op=ShowIt&Amount=Month&NavType=Absolute&Type=Block&Date=2013%2F5%2F1 And wanted to note that Thursday nights at QS&L is not only cruise night but all-you-can-eat wings night.
  9. Cool build, love the color and wheel combination.
  10. Even without BMF a black wash on the grille would really set it off. Still a very nice box-stock build.
  11. I like it. Clean! Where did the wheels come from?
  12. You must be a giant in order to pick up a real car and hold it in your hand like that.
  13. It's actually my FIL's grill but I sort of inherited it when I moved in here. Plan on using it again today. It is a great grill. Needs some new grates though, the ones on there are pretty nasty.
  14. The stitches aren't holding propery. Problem at the printer/bindery.
  15. Gorgeous. The surf board is a nice touch. As a bonus, you can post this in both the "Cars" and "Light Trucks" sections
  16. Too bad it's front wheel drive
  17. Can I PLEASE get a reissue of a 1st-gen RX7? I won't even be picky (although an '80 would be perfect, along with optional RB hop up parts...)
  18. Is that firewall mural a decal or is it hand painted?
  19. The yeller one looks like it drove straight out of 1980!
  20. I remember building this kit as a youth and I don't remember it being that bad. Maybe it was just a Monday morning kit (or, the one I had was a Wednesday afternoon kit)
  21. I'd buy it. Maybe not for 9 grand. I was looking into getting that glow in the dark paint for a stripe on one of my cars.
  22. Welcome abroad!
  23. REALLY digging the COE and the likewise-painted sedan!
