AMT Kenworth W925 Coke

Dan good morning, and hope all is well. Thank you for your reply. At this point I am still till torn on if I am building it as the Alaskan Hauler, or a standard issue W925. I also have contemplated using the Revell USA W900 Aerodyne mirrors, in place of the kit ones. I think that I would just have to modify the mirror by snipping off the turn signal on the bottom. Also I have a favor to ask. Would you mind taking a closeup photo of each mirror so I can see the actual area where you attached the mirrors and their positioning in proximity to the windshield? Thank you. -

How difficult are the mirrors to assemble? Have the Alaskan Hauler kit and the mirrors concern me. Not Autocar mirrors concern, but concern just the same. -

In looking at the box art I think the Rustoleum John Deere Green may do the trick as far as close enough to the shade shown on the tractor. Just would need to source a proper shade of Red that would work? -

Will have to wait to start building her a bit. Pollen season has arrived and if I wanted the cab to be Yellow I'd paint her that color. Also a question about the mirrors. For those who have built the W925/Alaskan Hauler can the Revell USA W900 mirrors be used in place of the AMT ones? -
I just picked up another one for my stash @ Hobby Lobby this afternoon. The AMT KW Alaskan Hauler. Now not sure what Kenworth's actual model number was for the truck. However neither here or there. Curious on others thoughts on color(s) for the truck. Do I go box art, or do I build it as a standard issue 1972(ish) W925? My mind works in mysterious ways, and this time is no different. Also would like some others experiences on their building this beast. Thank you in advance.

I had this kit as a Yute way back in the 1970's. My Grandparents lived in the Catskill Mountains in Upstate NY. There was a small little hobby shop in their town that carried this kit and I got it for Christmas maybe in 1976, or 1977. Don't think I ever finished her. PSA every kid that was a model builder in the 1960's/1970's should have experienced the joy that a small little hobby shop in town brought us back then.

My own Sundance

As much as I loved the freight oriented tractors 4070, White Freightliner, Titan/Astro. Mack, Ford W series, anything White Motors etc back as a kid in the mid 1970’s. The W Series from KW also was a favorite. KW’s, Pete’s were nice but seemed to be West of the Hudson River as far as I thought. However when you saw them on the NYS Thruway or on the pages of Owner Operator Magazine your heart skipped a beat. Want to see more of this model. Well done. -

Wow that's a great job. I really like it a lot. Well done. -
I purchased an brand new AMT Chevrolet Titan 90 kit from eBay back in 2011. I started the kit then abruptly stopped (a familiar MO of mine). Over the years I lost some parts. However a few years ago I started to reaccumulate the missing parts (including the cab). I then decided to try and build her up. Project T-90 is now on the bench. My thought process is to make her a slightly dolled up O/O unit that was purchased from a used truck dealer (similar story to a certain Carroll Jo Hummer we all know and appreciate). I even have dirtied up the powerplant. Remember the only time you shouldn't see any build up is when she's on the showroom floor.

Gary based on my track record of many good ideas from others, and self created ones the finished product has to be finished. Revell snap Peterbilt 359's, and KW W900's are one thing. Actually completing AMT non snap kits are a different story. I change my mind more than a 17 year old Girl picking out a prom dress. What I will learn from this project directly affects my Rat Fink 4070A that's still in its wrapping in my closet. -

A person I know has suggested Red or light Blue. He also said that semi gloss Black is so "standard". The Red I might go with is Rustoleum Gloss Apple Red (pictured). I might do the fuel tanks in frame color with Aluminum straps, or Aluminum and frame colored straps. So many decisions. -

That's true. Weather needs to get situated properly before I get to the decision. -

Brian thank you. My question is did International offer a light Blue chassis color option in the years 1968 to 1973? -

Jurgen thank you. It's Testors One Coat Lacquer De Ja Blue. -
My newest project is underway. The AMT Retooled IH CO4070A that I started last year. I used Testors One Coat Lacquer De Ja Blue. Added the White kit stripes (box art ones). Unsure if I am painting the frame Semi Gloss Black or perhaps a contrasting Blue (suggestions however will be welcomed). I am going to be clear coating the cab prior to adding the livery decals which have not been determined yet. More pictures to come as I progress through the build.

Bob, Good morning and thank you for the tip. What grit would I use to scuff it up? -

Steve, Hello hope all is well. Yes I used Tamiya Fine Surface (White) Primer, then laid down the Testors DeJaBlue. -
Hello all hope everyone is well. I have a question about repainting a model. I have an AMT IH CO4070A cab that I painted in Testors Extreme Lacquer DeJaBlue. Came out okay but have a change of heart about the color as I think the metallic is not what I am looking for. Can I reprime it over the current paint job with Tamiya Fine Surface Primer and then reshoot a new, more appropriate shade maybe like a Tamiya Red lacquer or (perhaps enamel)? Ant help is appreciated. Thank you. Kind regards, Jerseejerry55
