  1. It's in a mall. Prime real estate that costs a fortune. They only stock what will sell right away and they run a skeleton crew to save money. Same thing here. I only go there for the work benches Husky tools are great. I've had a set of wrenches and sockets for 13 years now and they've lasted right along side my Matco and SnapOn tools. Hands down the best bang for your buck is Husky tools.
  2. Depends on the state I guess, but you typically can't just get a protective order because you feel like it. There needs to be a good reason and something to back it up
  3. 110s almost all month here. Last week had some nice days. It was humid for a couple weeks too, then we finally got some rain. Turned into a torrential downpour and flooded my city in 20 minutes. Went on for an hour and then everything was bone dry an hour after the rain stopped
  4. You can trademark bandit if it's written a certain way or presented as the name of a certain product, with the artwork/logo. You cannot copyright the word, but you can trademark it in the configuration it's used on the product. Copright-words/text by themselves. Such as original product or business names Trademark-logos or words as they appear in logos or artwork. So the word apple cannot be copyrighted, but the apple trademark can be protected. Apple regularly sues other companies with anything resembling and apple in their name or logo around the world
  5. Edit: misread original post. Are there any engines from the enthusiast kits that would work?
  6. for the same reason i can't name my business after my own name, if I quit working for my dad. They do it to protect the established companies. A lot of new companies will pick a name that is very similar to well known, established companies in hopes people won't realize the difference and buy from them. it happens a lot with after market parts and such.
  7. It depends on context. It's all relative. I have some of my own products and I cannot copyright the product to names due to them being generic terms used to make the name. This is good and bad. I can't protect the name, but then again I can't be sued for it either. I can however, trademark the name in the configuration we use it in with the artwork.
  8. Read the comments. They say they can tune it to go from 600-1000hp depending on what they are doing, or remove the blower belt to kick it down to 400hp for autocross. It's built for street, strip, drag, track and everything else. It's a really well done car. I was thinking of building the new kit to resemble this
  9. This is almost 2 years old, so I am not sure if it's been posted before. http://www.speedhunters.com/2013/01/rollin-in-my-5-0-the-fox-redefined/
  10. A proper, affordable F40. Corvette grand sport Various muscle cars
  11. I found another FE engine! Actually it's the 427 cammer with the huge valve covers. Huge coincidence. I got a gift card from my sister in law for my LHS. Was in there today browsing and saw an AMT 65 Mustang Funny car. From the pictures on the box I took a gamble and bought it. It's really wide like the FE, it's the exact same size as the Revell 1/24 However it is setup for Hillborn injection and would take more work to modify than modifying the cobra manifold. Just wanted to let you guys know it's out there
  12. pretty cool http://i.imgur.com/nLWmXWn.gif
  13. There are a lot of good builders on these forums who present a lot of really high quality work. I am always impressed by the level of detail and cleanliness, but only a few times have I just stared in amazement wondering how these things could have possibly been done. This is a very impressive build. Not only the amount of detail, but how precisely and cleanly it was done. I didn't like the stance at first, but it's growing on me. i love the fender flares. Very well done.
  14. Very nice. Is this a TDR kit?
  15. I have learned a lot from this thread, I appreciate everyone's help. At this point it's pretty obvious that I won't find an FE manifold. I go the route of making my own. I will do a WIP when I get around to it. I may do it sooner than later, just to post the process.
  16. This is not true. There are plenty of people dipping textured parts. For example: The Xbox 360 video game controller has a bumpy, grainy texture. It takes the dipping just fine. These are handles and rubbed for hours at a time without failure. One thing auto manufacturers have always estimated is just how hot it can get in certain regions, and they don't make the parts strong enough to handle it. When I was a Jaguar tech, we had a HUGE problem with the XK coupes and the Aston Martins. The rear window was at an extreme angle and would magnify the sun's heat, curling up the parcel shelf in the rear. I watched it happen to the only XJ220 we had in as well. The dash curled up.
  17. I am fighting with myself to stay away from my Grand Sport. I have so many detail parts and so many ideas to make this a super detailed build, I am waiting for my skills to get better. For the life of me, i cannot figure out how I will paint the stripe on the photoetched hood fins. Stupid little things like this make me put it away and not touch it for a bit. Same thing with my Mustang GTO IMSA car. I want to do a super detailed build, but I am waiting to get better. Lot's of scratch building and surgery on that kit.
  18. I saw these cars in person when I was in high school. The guy that built them brought both prototypes to the hotel where I worked valet at. They had the debut of the Thunderbird at the time and there was some sort of Ford motor show for executives or something like that. I couldn't believe how ugly they were or why the guy spent so much time and money building them. One was red. I want to say the second one was either yellow or also red. It's been a while. Never heard from or saw them again.
  19. Bill, thank you for clarifying. I think I have a solution along the lines of what you are suggesting; I have the manifold that came with the Cobra kit, the correct one. I will dig out the center of that and leave the outer shell, which includes the mating surfaces where the heads bold to. I will use the TDR manifold, split it like you said, but put the halves on top of the kit manifold, to build it up. Then fill the middle. Pretty much what you're saying, but with a little more meat on it. I was looking at pictures of these manifolds from different angles and they are pretty thick. Mickie, HRM is Historic Racing Miniatures and TDR is TDR Innovations. HRM is all high quality resin casting, while TDR is all 3D printed parts. HRM has the following: Shelby 289 FIA full kit, engine kit, Cheetah kit, some corrected parts for the Accurate Miniatures Grand Sport kit, Their own Grand Sport roadster kit, full engine and suspension kit for the GT40, Full engine and suspension for the Ferrari P4, A bunch of wheels and tires, etc. There are more, but I can't remember off the top of my head. TDR mostly focuses on 1/8 scale, but they make a lot of 1/12, some 1/16 and they are dabbling in 1/24. They make some really nice stuff. I remember them saying they wouldn't make too much in the smaller scales because they wanted to maintain quality and detail. The Weber setup I bought is surprisingly crisp and detailed. The 3D printed parts leave a little bit of printing lines on them, but shouldn't be hard to clean up.
  20. I laid out all my pieces to compare them. At this point, my problem is the manifold. I can't find a Ford FE manifold anywhere. 1. The HRM carbs are great, but the stacks are built in and the carbs themselves are a bit small. These are from the GT40 Transkit, so I will use them for that. These are out. The manifold is great though, but it's built into the engine piece. 2. The Replicas & Miniatures of Maryland have the nicest detail out of all of them. These are very nice, with very nice separate stacks. A little bigger than the HRM, but maybe a little small. i am considering these. 3. The Fujimi ones are garbage. No detail and the manifold has the fuel line molded in. These are out. 4. The TDR innovations carbs are actually pretty nice. The manifold is very nice, with the finned detail in the center, but it's way too narrow. The carbs are the biggest out of the bunch. TDR set comes with some extras. I bought these stacks from RB Motion. I would really love to use these, i think it will top off the engine nicely, but they are too big for any of the carbs. The closest they fit are the TDR ones, but are still a little wide.
  21. Speeding ticket today. 75 in a 65 on the 101. Going with the flow of traffic, not even in the left lane. Bastard nailed me. I should be grateful though, I'm pretty sure he clocked me closer to 85. I was in the middle of a pack of fast moving cars
  22. So I had to make a trip from Palm Springs to San Louis Obispo, central coast. 5 hours each way. Drove up last night and back down this morning. My biggest spotting day where there wasn't a car show 3 ferrari 360s, 1 F430, 1 458 Italia, Aston Martin Rapide, many Porsche Panameras, 2 911 Turbos, a 1927 ford hot rod with an unchopped body, Porsche 356 Speedster, 2 current body style Shelby Gt500s, Maserati Gran Turismo, Camaro ZL1. There was more but that's all I remember off the top of my head
  23. Thanks, I'll definitely check that put
