  1. I saw a guy do just that with a model of the Bismarck. He'd stir up the sediment on the bottom of the tank and let the water get cloudy, and snap pictures of it with a blue light behind the tank. It looked pretty cool!!!
  2. That particular pic was taken in Truk lagoon in the Pacific. Yep. Parts of that dive are only 50-75 feet deep. Some of the wrecks are deeper. It was a large Japanese forward naval base, and One of our carrier task forces went in and blew the living daylights out of anything that moved. Some of those wrecks still have live ordinance on board. Its easy to tell how deep a pic is taken by the colors visible on the dive equipment. Anything below 50 feet or so, and reds and yellows become more gray when viewed in natural light, which at that depth, starts to dim.
  3. Yep. You got it Vince!! Let me know if I can do anything for you and your family.

  17. Sharp looking bug man!!! Like the color.
  18. I would love to get my hands on that kit, but with so many kits in my stash already, i'd have to get rid of some of them to make room. You still looking for that Tamiya 1/35 ww1 British mk2 tank kit?
  19. Amen!! Are you going to get the new Revell AG 1/144 Flower class corvette when it released? Supposed to be next month, but we know that song by now... I may get one just for detail comparisons.
  20. That was my first thought too. Then I thought about torpedoes. If one could get under that blast door, it would certainly hit something. And with that much blast force contained inside the bunker. Better minds than mine have probably pondered that idea too. Maybe the harbor basin itself wasn't large enough to allow for a torpedo run? I seem to remember that departing and returning boats had to have harbor craft help "turn" the boats to exit or enter the bunkers . It may be nothing, but it could explain why they never attempted a torpedo attack.
  21. I have never seen an intact blast door up close. Did they extend all the way to the bottom of the bunker floor, or just afew feet under the water surface? The only blast doors i saw during my tours over there were removed and i the process of being cut up.
  22. I have the same idea, but in 1/144 scale. I'm not quite sure how to build the drydock section. I would LOVE to build a lift off roof with lighted interior and rooms.
  23. I'm a tech victim, unfortunately, and i have never understood or been able to post pictures of my builds here. I was stationed in Germany in the Army and did alot of exploring on Uncle Sams dime. I traveled to the French coast to see the D-Day beaches, and made a side trip to see the U-boat bunkers. That's been well over 20 years ago now, and IDK if the bunkers even still exist. The last i heard, the French government was filling in the basins and bunkers with fill. Its a part of their dark past that they would rather forget. I still have the photo's somewhere in storage.
  24. Yeah, mine is the IXC. I wonder if they'll pantograph these down to 1/144 scale like they did with the type VII's. I'd be in for 3-4 0f each for my bunker dio. I have the Gato too, but i did the late war tower cut down on it. Looks much better.
