Is it just me ...
bismarck replied to Lizard Racing's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
No worries man. Like I said , I'm a self confessed Dinosaur. I use tech as just a tool.I think at one time Bill did post pictures of it quite awhile back. If I remember it right, it had a tarp partially covering it, being held down by a rather disinterested cat. Am I close on that Bill? It was a pretty cool looking project if I recall. A low slung job with rear engine(?). -

Me either. And people taking pictures of their food and posting it?? Really?? The wife facebooks, and some of the stuff she runs across really makes me fear for this country's future..... -

Please don't confuse the fact that I don't use tech with the ASSUMPTION I am not familiar WITH it. I use it every day in my job. I work in logistics for a company that ships goods all over the face of the planet and I have to be able to track shipments in real time. Our main office is in Tokyo, Japan. And yes, if your not on the tech wagon, you will most certainly be left behind. That's how the world works now. That being said. In my PRIVATE life I do not CARE for being wired into all the social media stuff. Some people are not comfortable outside of that world. Tech does not rule, and will never rule, my life. I could unplug tomorrow and be perfectly happy. When I come home from work, that high tech world does not exist. Its just something that I do from 9-5, its not my life. I have an entire room full of plastic that the wife thinks IS my life though. -

Yeah. That sums me up pretty well. Smart phones just don't interest me. Nor does Facebook, twitter, or any of the other social media. I'm a dinosaur and never took to computers and technology, I admit it. I'm only 44 years old, but I don't have an obsessive need to share every little detail of my private life, or learn anyone else's via smartphone or any other social media. Yes, it has all kinds of uses for everyone else, just not for me. I can see where it has advantages for older folks too. Convenience being a huge reason. I stay to myself and out of the social media foodfights that seem to rage over some of the stupidest things. No Thanks. My private life is just that. Private. That, and I can build kits in peace and quiet without the phone dinging, whistling , burping, or whatever the dang thing does to get my attention... -

I remember reading the article about the debut of his SCCA Camaro at the Daytona track. The Fords were out qualifying that day, and he rolls up and wants to make a few runs. The Tech inspectors pounced all over the car, The pit guy told Smokey " There's too much wrong with this car to list." Well Smoke told him, "Well add one more thing to your ##**"!! list!!", dropped the fuel cell out on the ground, and drove back to his shop!!! A little while later, he drove back and picked his fuel cell back up. He had used aircraft grade quick disconnect fittings on the fuel cell for easy install/ removal. He had driven back to his shop on the other side of town with only the gas in the oversized fuel lines on the car!! Ya gotta love the guy for having the stones to pull a stunt like that!!! A Tech inspectors worst nightmare!! LOL!!

My brother had that procedure done not too long ago. His was out patient surgery as well. I think he was in and out in like 4 hrs. I was totally surprised he was up and around in less than 24 hrs. He was alittle tender for afew days, but he was fine. Its natural to be alittle scared of it, but like Richard said, its considered a routine surgery now. You'll be fine.

Does anybody remember piling into a '60s or '70s station wagon for a road trip? 15 or 20 kids and mom and dad? No seat belts, or belts that were stuffed back under the seats. Maybe it was just being blissfully ignorant of what COULD have happened, but man, it was fun. Dad had a '68 Chevy Biscayne Wagon, and we had many a road trip like that when I was a kid. I guess we just didn't think like that back in the day. But as an adult that has to deal with the here and now, Yeah, I guess it was pretty stupid. Fun!! but stupid. -
I like blue, but I see green being a better match on that one.

Lookin GOOD Ken. What colors are you looking at?
-
I GOTTA get mine outta the stash now!!!! That is beautiful work JC!!! You made the kit supplied rims look great.
-
Lookin Good Ken!!! Its hard to beat the look of the old Hot Rods. They had a style about them that the new stuff will never have. Candy paint? Maybe a set of lakes pipes?

Happy Birthday Richard, And best wishes for many more!!!

I would be happy to be a customer!! Being smack in the middle of the rust belt, finding good, rust free OEM parts, or even decent aftermarket parts for that matter, is getting tougher every year. Nothing fits better than OEM parts, but those are drying up fast for the older stuff i like.
