  1. James, are you going to drop in a six or V8 in that '53?
  2. Thanks Mikelo and Dynomight. Mikelo, feel free to post your pics and advice.
  3. I went to the Hobby Lobby in Manchester, NH and I was totally underwhelmed. About 10 feet of model shelves, and a footbal sized area of arts and crafty stuff which bore me silly.
  4. I feel kind of dumb to just realize that Jimmy Flintstone already did a '72 El Camino. However, I decided after seeing it, that my avenue of approach actually wasn't bad after all. In this photo you will see a comparison of the original AMT '69 El Camino versus the AMT '68 El Camino body I used for my '72 conversion. It appears AMT used a hardtop vent window and no frame around the door window. Also there is a rear marker light in the rear quarter panel. The '68 ElCamino kit is a very nice kit. The Jimmy Flintstone '72 El Camino used the old kit. probably because the '72 kit and it match in width.
  5. I think it looks good. Somebody did a single headlight drag grille for that car. Cant remember who.
  6. Ron, I want that Regal. Wow, really nice.
  7. The Revell 57 Chevy vert appears okay by post #159
  8. Pappy, was it a 402 or 454? Charlie, I sent you a PM on FB because the link wouldn't paste here
  9. Gaps in the front were filled to make the grille flush with the hood and fenders
  10. '72 Interior is separated and trimmed fro use in the '68 interior.
  11. Does anybody have the new Revell '57 Chevy convertible to post a picture. A lot of comments, but no evidence in the form of photos.
  12. It was a risk they would scratch the paint, was all for a good cause.
  13. They are 1/24 figures, probably meant for G scale trains. You can find them on eBay.
  14. unclescott58, you asked for it, here it is; Oh yeah, there's enough room in the trunk for that suitcase.
  15. Here is an original AMT '71 Monte Carlo. It was an eBay buy, was decent but bad paint. Jorge Ramirez repainted it for me and now it is shelf quality. The ladies are washing it to make it presentable for you.
  16. I had that issue. Could remember the date but this post helped; Oct '74
  17. I think the model builds Steve did are very creative. They took a bit of engineering to make them. If you look at them as a finished product, as most of us do, it will detract from what they really are.
  18. I am not sure it was a boys life satire, but I remember it. It looked like a AMT 1957 Ford 3 in 1 Trophy kit box like the original, except the Ford was a Custom 300 version instead of a Fairlane. In place of Stock, Custom or Styline, it read - Abused, dented or wrecked
  19. I have seen this kit go for less than $100 recently on Ebay. Some people may disagree with me, but I put this car in the Model T class; lesser demand everyday that a guy dies that remembers those cars.
  20. I think Revell did to the '69/'70 Mustang kit what they did to make the Revellution funny kit. It appears that Miss Deal is a result of an aborted plan by Revell to do a stock '53 Studebaker. Maybe they kit after finding out AMT was doing the kit too?
  21. philio426 Looks like this is the original pre-painted MPC 73 Caprice? The '72 Impala is pre-painted too.
  22. The best plug wires I have seen recently
  23. I bought this kit at Woolworths for $2 back in the '70s. It said 440 Six Pack, but a Hemi was included in the kit. Basically, it was a reverse engineered MPC kit. Big promises on the box, disappointments inside. I chucked it years ago. Who would figure it would be valuable today?
