  1. That's true Jeff, most clay is sulfur free now, but important to check, gone are the days of the clay build rooms smelling like a sulfur plant - thankfully! Good link Bill, cool little roadster there!
  2. good to see some Posie's cars, looks great!
  3. A sculpting or polymer clay, like chavant - used in auto design industry, but available at art stores
  4. HLJ has been pretty good, they are beholden to backorders by the vendors like everyone else, but at least show status on their items, and are usually pretty quick to get items in before others, like Hobby Design items which are notorious for going out of stock or discountinued
  5. If you find cutting a perfect plastic ring a challenge, another solution is to cut out of thin cardboard, and paint, then glue up underneath the painted (white) filter element, then cut out the inner/center portion with an exacto after glued in place Then you'll have all the clearance, and a nice clean line between lid and filter element, I also after painting element in flat white painted the very bottom of the element with orange or blue - just bottom, not sides - before gluing on base ring on underneath, this gives a super detailed contrast of color, and appearance of molded rubber the element comes made of
  6. Oh yes, why I say only a concern if you were trying to make a prefect reproduction, but then it would take a bit of work to do of course The IMSA version in photo I have thought about making a build of, but it has yet completely different flares and details of it's own from either the ASC or the Capri versions I like the kit "Capri" style flares, and yet has the wheel opening lips of the Mustang - where as the Capri are flat Looking forward to seeing this build to completion!
  7. Wow, that'll stand out on the shelf!!
  8. Nicely done Jurgen, the Italeri kit certainly needs some work to make good, and looks like you've addressed those, Great work!!
  9. Nice work Roy, looks great! You should make a few casting while the mold is fresh, I'm sure there would be a few buyers here for it!
  10. The kit looks decent, and for $185 is should well be, even with PPE included Further from the other threads discussion, is that it still is an amalgamation of Daytona, as each were different from the next I have a project already underway, for release after the new year, with each of five kits will be of a specific VIN car, starting with 2287, but won't be nearly that high in price It would still be cool to see a kit of the hot rodded version, like the SPF or Factory Five cars for fun & custom builds!
  11. LOL yes, but you know how much scratch building I'm doing, I have to source as many recast parts or kit bashing as possible, or I'd never get anything finished
  12. Thanks Gerry, the revel kit source seems best, Johan kits are cheapest around $40 to start, and as I'm only looking for just the valve covers, buying a whole model kit is hard to justify LOL Possibly if I can find a revel or monogram kit local for cheap, I'm kind of surprised I can't find just the valve covers re-cast by someone on line, then it would only be a few dollars to get hold of? especially since I really only need one cover really!
  13. Thanks John, yes I think so, the Monogram specifically is a safest bet if I can find one local for cheap, the pic from the side of box shows the correct OEM valve covers
  14. The ASC cars were for promotions primarily of the 'then' new Fox Mustang, and only a few made, the fender bulges of the real cars is quite different to the scale kit body, only a concern if you're trying to more exactly replicate one Interestingly the original 1979 IMSA concept for that car was even more distinct in it's bodywork & graphics, and had side 3/4 windows much like a later model GT or LX - pic below
  15. Home décor shops are a good place to find these, as wall hangings, some framed, some without, even Ikea is a potential source too
  16. I agree with you Ken, the wheels on the 1:1 are a bit to thin spoke, possibly to busy for the rest of the styling, the front grill modified is made quite robust, and the side body coloring also in large block style, so wheels that follow that pattern would be a better choice IMO
  17. Old Pocher kit possibly?
  18. Neat project Ken, good luck with it! If those wheels are not an exact match, there are those aluminum drum sets, with tires, then have the centers 3D created & printed, to get more exactly the same wheels as the 1:1
  19. Great, thank you Gerry! Even if I can only get hold of a pair that requires modifications, then at least I could then use the modified pair to recast?
  20. Thanks for reply John, so is that the same kit as the Revell 1970 Ford Boss 429 (3 in 1, kit #85-2149) kit?
  21. Good work, nicely done!!
  22. Yes, I think I looked there Jerry, but as you say would need modification to make proper I'm unsure what the 429 Boss kit engines have?? I would presume stock covers like in the photo? but I didn't really want to send away for a whole kit, just to investigate? I was hoping to find them recast somewhere
  23. Cool idea & project progress! I'm building a 1/12 F40 GTE Evo2 that could park right in there!
  24. Been checking through the vendors list, and other sites online, including evil-bay, but so far no luck! Anyone know of a source? What I'm looking for is a set of valve covers for a Boss 429, but with the finned detail like OEM on the top edge The ones I've seen so far are either blank, or have "FORD" or "BOSS" stenciled across, which is inaccurate I've attached photo below of OEM cover as example
