Some great finds posted here! The embossing powder works well over double sided tape also BTW A couple of recent ones I came across, a few things at the craft store, and others at the dollar store craft store - aluminum screen mesh, 0.10 thickness, 12"x24" & some thick "sip straws" which come in various shapes, and square, for scratch building & Cyanoacrylate glue, in sizes double the hobby store & 2/3 the price! The craft store is also a good place to find tools! micro (vice) drill sets, exacto refills, scribing tools, proper clay for silicone molds, etc. dollar store - various emery boards (nail files), cushioned and hardboard ones, plus buffer type (ultra fine) & stir sticks (for molding work) & mini spring clamps & various thickness styrene signs, much cheaper than sheet packs at hobby store! they also had self-healing mats at my local dollar store for cheap!

I haven't been aware of this, but I tend to be in my workshop more than the model community so might be behind the times here some what? Emailing with a fellow modeler, I was told that the selling/buying of 'just' the model kit box art is starting to become more of a regular thing I know that many kits are more valuable because of their intact boxes, or unopened, but this is just about the empty boxes I'm sure many of us have bought kits, and held onto old boxes for the covers, I know I have for some, we even have a few threads in forum going to highlite box art, but it's interesting to learn of this new(?) trend Not sure if this is more so in Europe, rather than North America, but perhaps some others can speak about this topic further

Comparison Revell Shelby GT500 kits?
Jeremy Jon replied to Jeremy Jon's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
No one built the Revell of Germany kit to compare? The KA photo-etch detail set is the only one I could find specifically, it looks not to bad, and has the hood vents also -
Neat! Always liked the RSR IROC 911's Spotted a 904 in that bunch too, that's be a good kit to rebuild also
-
You know what would cool Joseph, is if there were a raised lettering decal, which could be applied and painted over on tires, so to make correct sidewall markings, on otherwise bald sidewall tires That's beyond a typical waterslide decal of course, but might be possible in some other way PS messaged you on FB

Hobby Design Wheels
Jeremy Jon replied to MadMardigan's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Excellent post Gerry! Only addition I would make, is to see if someone has to sell tires from their Tamiya kits, which many do having used bigger HD wheels in their builds The Tamiya 18-20" tires, in particular Ferrari kits - F50, Enzo, 458, California, etc - have good quality tires, including sidewall marking detail -
True, I missed out on a Gunze E-type kit, that I meant to bid on, but got caught up with work, and so it sold for $24 with only 1 bid

Comparison Revell Shelby GT500 kits?
Jeremy Jon replied to Jeremy Jon's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Going to order #85-2097 kit off evilBay now, and will post some further review comments when arrived about detailing or fixes Can anyone comment first hand on the #07243 Revell of Germany release kit? Same as #85-2097, or different?? If so, then how?? -
Revell - 1977 "Bandit" Pontiac Firebird (Trans Am!)
Jeremy Jon replied to Drake69's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Excellent review, Thanks! Would be great to see a stock - movie car - build, and also one of the modernized version builds, there is - or was - on Shapeways an open file for large snowflake rims, in 1/24 scaled for 19" or 20" size IIRC -
Comparison Revell Shelby GT500 kits?
Jeremy Jon replied to Jeremy Jon's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Good suggestion from Jonathan, that apparently these Pegasus tires will fit over the Revell GT500 wheels, the tread pattern shows as Michelin Sports, I'm not sure of the sidewall detail without some closer-up photos The Shelby wore as production tires the Goodyear F1, but if the Michelin's were an option, would be a good alternate Searching through some models kits, I came across the Revell '98 Corvette C5 kit(s), which still wore sidewall detailing - not sure why Revell chose to stop doing that, as the Corvette C6 kit tires are like the Shelby, without any sidewall markings Anyways, the '98 'vette kit tread pattern is not exactly the same as the Goodyears used on the Shelby actual, might be close enough for some, and definitely has sidewall markings I'll have to see yet if they fit correctly, but even then some small modifications might be necessary -
WOW! I'm speechless, the detail, lighting, oil cans, colors, just WOW!

"Low-tus" Europa Special... final assembly!
Jeremy Jon replied to jaymcminn's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Look aggressive, nicely done! The Europa was never a "looker" so hardcore racer is definitely the way to go IMO -
Wow, fantastic work! Now that's what I call "over the top"!!

Interesting coachwork there, very cool! Looking forward to seeing more!

Going to do a 2007 GT500 build, so doing some homework first I found only the KA photoetch kit listed for this kit, so will probably grab that Instead of sending for & buying all three kits to compare, let's get some feedback form you guys that likely already have 2 or 3 of these kits, their differences and give review of them I've read through just about every post I can find here - and elsewhere - already, but nothing directly speaking of comparison between them Sometimes the Revell of Germany kits can be different than the North America versions, sometimes they are the same!? I can only guess that's the case here, but don't know for certain The KR version says re-tooled, but is it any better? The wheels of the 85-2097 seem only fair - and will de-chrome them - but the tires are just poorly IMO What's been a good source of alternates? Weigh in and let me know what differences and insight you have that is helpful! #07243 - a Revell of Germany release #85-2097 - a Revell of North America release #85-4226 - a re-release/re-tooling from Revell of North America, but is the KR version wheels and spec There's a 1/24 Testors die-cast version too, but not sure if the wheels/tires are any better, and most likely the interior & engine is more basic Thanks!

Very nice work!! Love the combination and nod to the GT500 Shelby

Jeremy Jon replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Great forum, Nice people of the scale model community, Sad that forum had that problem, but seems all in tip-top, ship-shape & bristol-fashion now! -
Thanks Dominik, Clayton, Bill, Mike, Ray, Kenny & Randy! It's the real life stuff keeps getting in the way of my build time! LOL More to come shortly, as I work to button this master pattern up, then show some of the casting process too
