  1. And I;m sure the folks ar Subaru didn't actually name their truck after a sausage either
  2. Though having found out this beauty is based on a 300, I may just get another
  3. The camper version is called the Westphalia, which is also a kind of ham.
  4. A DeSoto, to be exact: No surprise about Savonuzzi. Chrysler had done a lot of business with Ghia at the time.
  5. I saw that one, and that is another good one, though I still have that one from the last time it was out.
  6. Mazda isn't exactly an obscure company, and the Visions have been on every automotive website, but in any case, it's a shape that gets people excited, which I think is the most important thing. It's okay if people say "What is it?" if they go, "I want one!"
  7. It's been used on a Fiat, an Alfa Romeo, a Jaguar, an Aston Martin, and a Chrysler, so why not?
  8. I was thinking of the Mazda Vision Coupe, but that's a really good choice too.
  9. Yes, despite the moans from certain corners, exciting cars are still being made. Personally, I would be good with someone releasing a kit of the Mazda Vision concept.
  10. Round2 will be getting my money for the Edsel. It was one of their best kits the last time I bought one, and I want to replace the one I lost in a move. The Continental kit is a new addition, and that could be useful for any number of '50s style builds. In fact, I will say, if Round2 feels like cutting a set of moulds for any other iconic 50s cars with that same level of quality, they will get my money for that as well. Same goes if they decide to re-release any of the Connoisseur Classics.
  11. I have the one with XR-6, and the tires missed the wheels, but left a divot in the running board. However I have an early issue Jo-han Cadillac V-16 that's been sitting in the box with no melt anywhere, so some companies seem to have figured it out even back then.
  12. Then again, is there any model company that hasn't lurched from one financial crisis to another?
  13. Makes as much sense as naming a vehicle after a ham.
  14. Back at the start, there was a request for a Vanwall, and it turns out Merit made a Vanwall kit back in the day. Maybe if someone asked the folks at Smer? Airfix and MPC released a 1/32 Mercedes 280SL that put a lot of 1/25 kits to shame.
  15. I remember building that one when it first can out, and Icould get behind a reissue.
  16. Anyone who can make something out of that Lincoln kit has my deepest respect.
  17. Pungs-Finch all the way. But seriously, all the manufacturers get the ocaissional flash of brilliance, and that's what makes it interesting.
  18. And if we can't use it, hey, that's why we have models.
  19. The fact that those games do exist shows that there are enough young people interested in cars to make it viable. Would enough of them want to have a tangible version of the vehicles they enjoy in the game? That's the question, but a question I think might be worth pursuing. The Corvette does seem to have developed a reputation as an old person't car, which may work against it, but the carmakers have designed some pretty wild concept cars for those games. Maybe some of those would be worth turning into styrene.
  20. Those Gundam kits flying off the shelves suggests otherwise. Young people are willing spent money on model kits, but it has to be something that interests them. Mind you those are snap kits, but some of those are still insanely complex. Maybe Revel Germany's "easy-click" system is a step in the right direction for appealing to a new generation.
  21. Very nice, but just to put it into perspective, as much time as elapsed between then and now as between then and when this was the fastest Ford in the showroom. That's an awful long time to be resting on your laurels.
  22. Actually, it was those wheels that tipped me off, because I remembered seeing them on other Alfa Romeos. When I typed "Mustang:" and "Alfa Romeo" into Google, that was one of the cars it spit out.
  23. You can make the same argument for aftermarket photoetch and resin. I suppose you could just document the changes so the judges know what you did.
  24. I remember Plimley Motors. They were actually a pretty big deal in the Lower Mainland (Vancouver and the surrounding area) They sold Chryslers, and several British makes, including Jaguar and MG. Victoria loves to play up its imperial roots, and when I still lived in BC the downtown area did its best to promote itself as an authentic bit of "Olde Englande".
  25. I guess next January 8 will be Pocher day?
