You have definitely captured the essence of the car, well done!
-
Great news! Glad to hear of the quick progress ?

Just saw this, also hoping for as speedy a recovery as possible, and sounds like things are progressing at a good rate. Thoughts and prayers for you folks from here.

Sadly, I have all sorts of boxes, containers and those ‘hardware organizer cabinets’, my problem seems to be finding the time to actually organize it all....

Come to the dark side and build some big rigs, after buying a few of those, car kits seem cheap, lol. But, in the end, this is a hobby, and we spend disposable income on kits, parts, tools and supplies, and for the most part, I think a lot of the guys that pirate kits for parts are getting them in the secondary market, so the price to kit bash isn’t close to retail, still not dirt cheap, but not horrible.

This will fill the last hole in my chevelle stack of kits, very happy to see this coming out!

A 1:1 vehicle and a model are not even comparable in this case in my mind as far as shows go. Not everyone can build a 1:1, but almost anyone can build a model, I say this, as a 1:1 takes a lot more skill and knowledge to do, versus a model kit. having said that, in respect to models, if you didn’t build it, you should not enter it in a judged competition, regardless if you state it was built by so and so, at the most, it should be in a display only area and duly noted as to who built it. Thats just me, so take it for what it’s worth.

Imagine the size of the carpet monster during the build of one of those, lol.

I was 13 at that time, and probably didn’t realize model building existed outside of my circle of friends, lol.

Empty bench, feels strange
tbill replied to Oldmopars's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not a bad thing, I haven’t been at the bench in months, and think I’ve only stepped into my ‘room’ twice in the past month to put down a few new kits. But, summer is almost over, so it’ll be back in there making a mess soon.... -
check out artograph booths as well. I've had mine for 3-4 years, and love it, I got a 4130, it's huge, can fit rig trailer sides in it. highly recommend it.

cars of the past, i miss the torque/ plant you in the seat feeling. the feel of closing a solid built door, the peculiar smell of the vinyl seats during the summer heat, bench seats that were like a couch, dash boards with speedo/fuel/clock and idiot lights [now everything has a tach and most gauges, used to be that stuff was for the SS cars and the like], body styles that looked good with cragar wheels, or keystone classics, engines that sounded good with aftermarket mufflers, and on some cars, the miles of chrome inside and out. biggest thing i miss, NO CUP HOLDERS.....it's a car, not a kitchen, not meant to have food or drink in it [but that's just me] oh, and ash trays, and not really for the smoking aspect, made for a nice change holder.

Nothing to worry about, if you look back at the evolution of the vette, each generation has been quite a departure from the prior one, with the exception of the C5 to the C6, those were quite similar in many ways. That and the sky didn’t fall when the trans got sent to the back of the car for better weight distribution, so I think it’ll be ok, lol. Plus, you still can’t beat the performance and comfort for the price range, try daily driving one of those other super cars and see how quickly it’s no longer fun.......

Currently, this, it’s reasonably fast, gets 25mpg, and the top goes down, super fun to drive and puts a smile on my face whenever I’m in it. 2004 commemorative edition corvette

Salt potatoes and model boxes, more in common than you thought....

Lol, I have not, nor do I think I can pronounce them properly? -
Salt potatoes and model boxes, more in common than you thought....
tbill replied to tbill's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Well by golly, I thought they were a universal thing. What they are, are small white potatoes with a thin skin, you boil them, and add heart attack inducing amounts of salt into the boil, then when done, add a ton of butter on top of them. Theyre quite good! I hope you are aware of Hoffman hot dogs..... -
So, I’m cooking dinner this evening, and part of that is a bag of salt potatoes. As I look around for a pot to do the taters in, I find myself using a not quite adequate pot, but I decide to soldier on. I get the taters in the pot, and add water, ok, all taters are covered in water, so on the stove the pot goes. Now, at this point, you’re thinking, big deal, you’re making salt potatoes, how can this possibly relate to model building,......,wait for it, it will all become crystal clear,.... after a few minutes, the pot begins to boil, so I keep an eye on it, and check the progress of the ‘cooking’, it’s looking good so far. Here is where this random topic starts to make sense......., I decide it’s time to stir what’s in the pot......, all of a sudden, I have too many potatoes in the pot, I have stragglers above the water line! Panic ensues, and I have to keep stirring to keep dinner under water. now, I posted this because awhile ago I decided to rearrange my model kits, and much like the potato debacle, once I stirred up the boxes, nothing fit on the shelves again......., I seemed to lose shelf space, much like I lost space in the pot with the taters. Just thought it was funny, your mileage may vary?

It is amazing how many people can’t drive stick, I too learned on the 3 on the tree. My only gripe now, is that some of the 6 and 7 speeds have a very vague neutral gate.

Ya, the digital age sure seems to have put a damper on outdoor play. I can also remember building all sorts of stuff with lego’s (sp?) , playing with matchbox cars, and model building on rainy days. Then there were the phone calls on land lines with the 40 ft cord so you could climb up the stairs so the rest of the family couldn’t hear you, untill your sibling would try to pick up the other phone to snoop on you, lol. And a bike was like a car back then, 2 wheels, two pedals, one speed, and off you were on a black top adventure......

I remember those days, in front of my house was a street light, and lined up with the end of our driveway, in the middle of the street, was a man hole cover, or as we called it, home plate. Standing on home plate, my house was on the right, a small tree in the next neighbors house was 1st base, a painted circle in the middle of the road was 2nd, a small corner of the driveway of a house across the street was 3rd base. A few houses down from 2nd base was an imaginary line that indicated a home run. We played ‘baseball’ with a tennis ball, kickball and ‘frisbee’ baseball on our ‘diamond’. Luckily, we didn’t have a lot of traffic on our street. When the street light came on, we all seemed to have to make the run home to check in, then back out to start/finish whatever game we were playing. We also had a big hide and seek game, the boundaries were about a block and a half , and all yards were fair game in that area, except a few, every neighborhood has one or two cranky old folks, lol. great topic, I haven’t thought of our neighborhood games in quite some time. almost forgot about the touch nerf football games in the street, with certain driveways denoting end zones, lol

Revell auto transporter questions
tbill replied to landman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm pretty sure I built the base/floor section and painted that as one piece, the rest of the build is cross bars and floor ramps. the sides are pretty much one piece if memory serves. two sections of the top ramp sections pivot so you can get cars in it on the lower level. if it weren't for the whole photo bucket debacle, i had a rather detailed build thread when i did the car hauler/titan90 and 69 camaro's, that had tons of pic's as i went along.
