  1. Nice job Rich, looks 'very' good. Looks pretty close to 1:1 in shot #4.
  2. That interior looks good Robert, nice job on the scratch built stuff, especially the shifter and boot. The tach looks scratch built too, or , at least aluminum.
  3. Marc, thanks. The Chezooom kit has the same parts, I have one of those. Ya, I think whoever built this did it 'fast' like a weekend perhaps and they got paint almost everywhere and then glued it together before the paint was dry, as you can see in the pics. I'm tempted at this point to use the new parts, but, I haven't broken down yet.
  4. I love that Corvair John, those colors (blue/gold) look perfect for that car. The wheels/tires look great too. Mean looking little thing. Nice builds man.
  5. Ya. That rim for the wheel that you made is really cool Brad.
  6. The only difference I can see between your car and the picture is the profile of the slicks on Charlie's car seems to be a little lower? So, that means that you have it spot on! Looks great Joe, yeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaa!
  7. Thanks Joe, glad you like the color choices because I'm sticking with the silver and blue, the silver on the sides of the car. I probably could scratch make some spings, but , I don't know , my goal at this point anyway, is to use ' all ' of the original kit parts, call me obsessive. I'm cleaning up the front suspension now, well, trying to get it apart, by going back and forth between hot sink water and the freezer, to minimize carving and prying. I've almost got the tie rod completely prepped and ready for primer. I need to start prepping the body as I've only got two days before the weather will be right for painting. A short window of two days.
  8. Gene, thanks for changing your Avatar. That last one was freakin' me out man. LOLOLOLOL, are you talking about the skeleton Rat Fink?
  9. Thanks Carl! You don't like the silver? Maybe the other color should be white huh?
  10. Looking great Niko! I love the tires and wheels, especially the white wall front tires, great choices on the colors too. It's starting to take form now.
  11. All right, Let's see what's happening with this restore; The body is cleaned and ready for prep work. Continuing with the disassembly, now working on the chassis. Same story, seems this kit was glued together while the paint was still wet, and , in some cases it almost looks as though the original builder used paint as glue? hmmmmmmmmm. It looks like I might be able to get the body, and , chassis painted Thursday/Friday if all goes well, AND , I get all the body prep done. The temperatures are suppossed to be in the low 50's, yes! Here's a shot of the basic colors for the body, if I can pull off a two-tone paint job, it will be my first real attempt. I've done a couple of dabbles at it before, so , my experience is minimal. I'm thinking black & white with metals for the inside, maybe one other primary color (?) Tell me what you think: Rustoleum 'Maui Blue/Krylon Short Cuts 'Chrome: the chrome as a lot of yellow/gold tones in it, which I think is cool. And now for the not so pretty: Rear Spring Mount: Rear Spring: (The other spring is still stuck on the sub-frame ) And the tie rod end: How exciting is this? I mean really! And so the journey continues in the restoration of the 'Super Boss' Hemi Hustler. Thanks for looking.
  12. I don't know Jack, seems like it might be. Bill will probably know. I still drool when I look at that kit that Bill did. What's the difference between a Cyclone and a Comet? The Comet I remember was smaller, the Cyclone being a mid-size car like the Fairlane. But the car on the box art for the kit you mention looks like the Cyclone Edit: Jack, I just looked at a couple of those kits and they 'are' Cyclones. It says " The Kings Comet" in big print with a crown, but, just to the right of that it says, " Mercury Cyclone funny Car. I wonder how close they are to the originals?
  13. I really like the Olds kit, and , would buy a re-pop, but , the Cyclone kit is etched in my memory from childhood as my holy grail. And the version that Bill has posted is just beautiful! Great job Bill! You should finish it.
  14. Keep plugging away Joe, it's not as far off as it may seem. This can be a frustrating phase in builds, (your chassis) , when it's pretty much done but there are still things that you just have to fix. You'll get there.
  15. Jack, Did you mean the HUG decals, or , the HH decals?
  16. The Hemi Hustler lives! I'm still cleaning up the body with thinner, it's getting really boring, so , I think I'll quit, lol.
  17. Is that an original '66 kit?
  18. LOLOL, you made me laugh man. I'm still smiling. Thanks. It's not over yet!
  19. Excepting the different wheels, box art , and , kit numbers.
  20. Jack, if R2 releases this kit it won't be called HUG, because it is the 'Hemi Hustler . I think it would be a shame to blur the two kits. They are unique and stand alone. R2 would be wise to keep them both. Gooche decals still makes the decals for the Hemi Hustler kit.
  21. Great thread with some great builds of these cars. But, no one has mentioned, or , shown the box art for (which is splendid) the 'Hemi Hustler' which was part of this series too no? Well, here it is:
  22. Thanks Joe, you should check out the body for the Barracuda if you already haven't, it's amazing the transformation. Yes, you've got you're work cut out for you, but , what a grand display it will be completed! What are the Chezooom's going to be if not Corvairs? I'll be watching.
  23. Joe, Looks like you've got yourself an ambitious project going now for sure! Is the Charlie Allen car going to be red? I just got the Chezooom kit two days ago as a back-up for parts for an original AMT 'Hemi Hustler' Barracuda I'm restoring, you can check out. The Chezooom is actually a 'Hemi (it's not a 427) Hustler' chassis/engine/wheels/tires with a '69 Corvair body and wheelie bars. You'll also notice that the chrome parts tree(s) still have tail lights for a '66 Barracuda on them! Those ever industrious Kats from AMT. Still a cool kit though.
  24. Here's what the body looks like now after going over the paint that remained with Q-tips and MIG thinner, (nice stuff). It still needs some touch up in places and the underside hasn't been done yet, but , it's coming along nicely. Then it's onto the normal prep stuff before painting, the body had never been prepped. The passenger side: Looking over the top (You can clearly see some of the places that need to be prepped): Drivers side: Rearend (I keep thinking that at some point that tail light is going to fall out on it's own!): Front: Inside: All in all not too bad so far. Thanks for stopping by!
