  1. It already looks good red, it's fate!
  2. Carl, I see if I can find one. The brush end was Joe's idea and worked well I thought.
  3. Pete, couple of really nice builds, that Willy's coupe is beautiful! They are both very nice builds.
  4. Thanks Carl and JC. Carl, that burnishing tool sounds like a good thing, I may have to pick one of those up, was it in the modeling section? I used the end of a small paint brush, (thanks Joe!) , that didn't work too bad, I think I could have done a little more burnishing in some places, but, it was my first two-tone paint job on a body, and , now I have a better idea of what, and , how to do things. It was fun to do, I will definately do it again. JC, Hemi Hustler (the unloved 'Super Boss' child) it is! Today is the last day I will be able to paint for a while so I better get busy. Thanks for all the replies, this would not have turned out so well without them! Gene
  5. Great start Ron, can't wait to see what you do with this build. Gene
  6. Great work Jeff!
  7. Thanks Carl, I missed you man! You should see that blue 1:1. I tried ordering the Line -O- Tape today from my LHS it was out of stock. I'll come up with something, thanks. Vince that's a great idea! I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet, may order some stripes from Microscale.
  8. Thanks you guys. I couldn't find any 1/64" pin stripe anywhere in town, even called an art supply store, and my LHS couldn't order Line-O Tape cause 1/64" was ' Out Of Stock. How is that gonna look though, doing it with decal paper? I'm thinking I need 1/64", the black outline on the decal is 1/32" and it looks 'huge' for a pin stripe. I guess I could try decal paper because it will be three sections no matter what I use, so it might not be too bad. Cutting 1/64" evenly might be though. We're modelers right, we can do anything in scale!
  9. Cool! Thanks Joe! Now I know what to look for. My LHS is a good one, so maybe they'll have some. I just called my LHS and that don't have any tape but can order 'Line-O' Tape, is that good stuff?
  10. Thanks Vince, I really appreciate that. Gotta see if my LHS has some pin stripes today, and then it's on to clearing time. If the weather holds I should have all that done in the next couple days.
  11. Hang in there John, not too bad really for your first one in so long. You'll get it together if you keep at it. Next time take your time and sand/file/test fit everything before you even think about paint. I really like the colors you used on this, you could just build another one now that you know what and where many of the problems are. It would most likely turn out much more to your liking.
  12. Weird engine, did Ford develope this just for racing?
  13. Niko, this is an awsome model, it's the best work of your's I've seen I think. It's beautiful! Great color combo, nice job. It should look great at the model car show.
  14. Thanks for the compliments Ace, and , Niko. Ace, I think you're right, that makes perfect sense to match the stripe in the decal. Where do I get good pin stripes for this? And how do I know what size to get? I think it needs a pin stripe there. I put them on before clearing ( ) ? Clear, or , pearl? I'm leaning towards pearl for the clear. Niko, That Chevy will be a wonderous machine. You should see this blue 1:1, it's very nice. I forgot to mention earlier that there are four coats of Racing Blue on the car, two light coats and two wet coats. I guess I should clear it and then polish? I'm an expert at this Here's what it looks like after 4 hours of drying time, it's leveled out some: Looks like I ran over the apex a little on this one, the pin stripe should cover that: Well, that's it, it's 5:06am and I'm drinking black tea and smoking cigarettes. Oh, and listening to jazz on NPR, with a black cat in my lap. Hope you're all going to have a great day!
  15. Great job Ron, I love how it looks. I like where your head is at with this!
  16. Ha! Thanks JC, It turned out ok, here are some shots: This is after two hours drying time: It almost looks like there's a light blue tinted back window in this last shot, hmmmmmmmmmmmmm ? I had to throw this in Let me know what you think for the livery, , or , anything else for that matter , I'm worn out , I feel lucky to be able to do this , I'm having a great time. Oh ya, I'm thinking of a very thin pin stripe on the top edge where the colors meet, yellow, or , red , maybe black even? Let me know what you think. Thanks for looking!
  17. Looks good JC, the headers are awsome.
  18. Thanks Niko, a '50 Olds sounds cool! Do you have a thread for it? Rust repairs are fun! The second color has been applied. Let's see how I do at removing the tape in a couple of hours. I'll have pics in a while.
  19. Hey Niko! I been wondering where you been. I left myself online and didn't realize it. I'm going to pull the tape off at around the two hour point, it should be good and dry by then. The plan is to do this Tuesday, if not then Wednesday, but , I'm shooting for Tuesday. Thanks!
