  1. Thanks Niko. Ya, Dave I love the box art too. The original builder of this kit did a pretty good job as far as glue goes, there's not really much excess glue, there's a 'lot' of paint though, it looks like they just poured it from the bottle in the interior. My main worry is getting the engine apart, as there's no paint on there holding stuff together. We'll see how it goes. I should have the body and chassis in the pond today! I just need to get the front grill/bumper piece off.
  2. I have complete confidence that Brizio will have this completed by sometime in early spring.
  3. Got this in the mail yesterday, ebay auction, $40.00. Will probably work on this slowly as I work on other builds. Not sure how hard it's going to be to get paint/glue off of a kit that's probably somewhere around 45yrs old. Since it's really not much of a glue bomb I might just leave some parts on in some places and just remove the paint, we'll see. The only breakage is with the three wheels that are off, that should be an easy fix. No cracks in the glass anywhere! It's going to be a slow go like I said because I don't want to flub this up. It looks like enamel paint so I guess the purple pond will be the first order of business for most of the car. The engine looks really good and was never painted, the chrome has taken on this really cool effect with age that I've never seen, it looks almost like Alclad. So I might just leave the engine white, (? yuck!) and work with washes for effects, instead of risking trying to get it apart and breaking something. Pretty much everything else looks like it can go to the pond. Any words of wisdom will surely be appreciated. Box art (You can see where the original builder tried to match the blue on the box and then changed their mind. Possibly inspired by the gold on the blower decided that a single color was better/easier): The original Kmart price sticker: Side view of the car as it is now; (I should have stuck the slicks in for this one Everything laid out together: Floating in mid-air: The front end and rear glass; (the grill insert is in the " Everything laid out shot") : Close-up of the engine: Notice the mold sharpness and the hue of the aged headers: The interior: As you can see it's doable, I'm excited! Gene
  4. Niko, that is awsome work! It looks great! Really. Very inventive the way you came up with the parts, i'm impressed!
  5. Niko! You are a building machine! Nice work on the cage, and very interesting kit.
  6. Niko, in the background of your last post I see the '55 Chevy, is it done? It sure looks good sitting back there.
  7. Thanks Michael, Thanks for posting, I'm glad you approve! Bill, I actually did a light gray inside the stacks because that's what i saw in pics of real engines that hadn't been run that much, it shows up better on this model 1:1. But , in the end , I think you're right, a little more black/brown would have added more realism. The next exhaust I work on (which is a blown 427 FE for a mustang funny car) I'll do that. Thanks for the tip. I'm glad you commented on this thread! Because you were a lot of help on the engine! Thanks! Gene
  8. Thanks for the kind words Lee! With Niko's help I found the solution, I would never have thought of Photobucket, duh. LOLOLOLOL, you better be ready for some work Lee! This kit (at least the 'Tin' version I had) will test your prep skills that's for sure!
  9. Bill, What are you gonna do with the body? You could strip it you know, it's not that big a deal.
  10. Joe, sounds like you had a wonderful time, who could ask for more! Nice to see you've got another styrene addict in the making!
  11. Thanks Carl for all the support and encouragement! There's actually one spot on the rear belly pan , passenger side that looks like a scratch but it's a hair or something! Unbelieveable how this turned out, I was sweating it to the very last drop of adhesive! Which was Microscale 'Liquitape' by the way, great stuff, it's holding several things in place on this car, puffer box, nose/hood piece to cowl, steering rod etc,....which enables me to remove them and then stick them back on, 'and' they still stay in place, it's adhesive qualities last, and , it dries clear! Who could ask for more! Once it dries it won't come off completely with just soap and water. Thanks Aaron, us drag freaks gotta stick together! Your work is great! Thanks Ace! That means a lot to me!
  12. Ok, here's the Photobucket attempt: It worked! Thanks Niko! And thanks for the compliments on the car! I'll post more pics later. I went crazy on the number of photos. Enjoy!
  13. Yes, I had a good day yesterday Brizio, thank you. This is monumental! What a project! It is devine! That chassis looks great! Maybe this project will make the cover of MCM?
  14. Very cool, nice job on the decals, (they look like paint from here) , and , wheels.
  15. 'Very' nice builds, I love the Pontiac and the Bronco.
  16. Nice builds and funny post!
  17. Bummer, All I get is: Upload Skipped (Error301). I've changed nothing in my methods or equipment and the file size is less then 2mb, I'm baffled. Help! Ok, I'll try this again. Could it be that overall internet traffic is 'so heavy' today (people uploading Christmas pictures) that things are just not working right? Update 12/27/14: Still can't upload pics, bummer, I've spent nine months on this build and can't show it finished. I've tried everything, even different browser. Like I said before I've 'never' before had a problem uploading pics. Update: I just uploaded some of these pics to another site with no problems, so I think it's safe to say the problem isn't on my end. Oh well, thanks for all the interest, and , help/support. I really do appreciate it. Gene
  18. I think it looks great! I love it. Great job on the cockpit. Is the rough texture of the coffin molded in? It looks great. What did you use to paint it with? And, how did you make the candles? Great job Steve, thanks for posting this build.
  19. The belly pan is on, all that remains is the steering rod. Should have pics up by tonight. Merry Christmas! For some reason it still will not let me upload pics, not sure what the problem is, nothing has changed on my end, never had a problem before. Same eveything, and , proper file size(?)
  20. Great theme Tim, thanks for the info. If you wanna learn about 1:1 cars, build models!
  21. Niko, Those carbs look awsome! Great job! That engines gonna look fantastic when you're done! Once again, great job on that intake system, can't get over how good those carbs look! I'm definately going to try that recipe on my next carb set-up.
  22. Thanks Lee! I'm gonna tackle this thing one way or the other! (Without getting adhesive on the body, yikes!) Working on it right now in fact. Merry Christmas!
  23. Looks good Stan, the engine looks great! Is that the 'air intake' sticking out the sides on the front?
