  1. Fritz von Opel having fun in 1928 - reached 143 mph in this rocket powered beauty.
  2. Lovely - but is it really wearing piecrust slicks on the rear? I still remember seeing a competition Cobra in the late sixties / early seventies sitting on pole on the grid at Silverstone then spinning when the flag dropped to start the race...
  3. Great job. What motor is that?
  4. Thanks for that also to Brett and Danno for filling in a missing bit of my education, We never really had a 'strip' like that in Solihull! I do know that a drag strip is a one way affair though!
  5. Kashmir - Led Zeppelin. I want this one played at my funeral (not that I'm in any hurry for that!)
  6. That's impressive!
  7. Astronomy Domine - the Floyd again!
  8. Isn't it good! - that's also an early Floyd lyric (the Gnome).
  9. Drum brakes? Albeit Alfin ones(?) William Lyons would be very unimpressed!
  10. I'm gettin' bugged driving up and down the same old strip... Maybe I'm reading between the lines too much!
  11. Ha ha ha - bonk! The sound of a man laughing his head off! Keep up the great work.
  12. Lonesome Loser - Little River Band
  13. Little by little the night turns around Counting the leaves which tremble at dawn Novices lean on each other in yearning Under the leaves the swallow is resting
  14. Keep it original, makes life much easier and keeps the resale value better - not that I can imagine you'll ever want to sell it! I know Kowalski wasn't worried about resale value..
  15. On the other hand - does this mean there's an S-Type tooling around town with an 1172 cc sidevalve Ford Pop engine? :
  16. Addicted to Love - Robert Palmer. Tina Turner covered it, I never heard her version but I bet it's much better
  17. This wouldn't look good whatever shade of grey it was. And they couldn't even afford the fuzzy black bits.
  18. That'll be 'I Get Around' then! Even more quintessential than Little Duece Coupe, if it's possible to have degrees of quintessentialness?
  19. Best ever E-Type - the Lindner Nocker lightweight low drag coupe:
  20. Not warm. Cellar temperature. You shouldn't have to chill beer to make it drinkable!
  21. This tubbed 420G has a twin turbo big block Chevy putting out 900bhp. I love the racing XJ12 in your last post, Bill, just a shame Jaguar would never cooperate with Ralph Broad to make the racing XJC concept work properly. They used to blow the opposition into the weeds then retire with the brakes on fire or some other mechanical issue. The street car is the one that Steed drove in the Avengers TV series, it replaced his red 3 litre vdp Bentley. It was completely standard apart from the arches and the wheels.
  22. This is no joke - we used to hate racing after the Jags had been out, everything covered in a sheen of Mobil1...
  23. Well I'm tellin' ya son that it ain't no fun Staring straight down a '44
