  1. Greg - it's 'blimey' in these parts! No offence, guv'nor!
  2. Also easy! The Lemon Song - Zep. Absolutely brilliant but sadly no credit given to Howlin' Wolf!
  3. Easy! Dedicated Follower of Fashion - the Kinks
  4. It's lucky Ward didn't kill or injure anyone else! - pot or alcohol in whatever quantity do not mix with driving any car in any situation let alone a racetrack. If anyone else is fool enough to race cars while 'refreshed' then hopefully they'll wise up after this tragedy. It's not just themselves they're endangering.
  5. '78 was grim for hit singles! In the UK that year's top 10 singles did at least include these two gems: 'In this town, Billy says, "everybody's tryin' to tell you what to do" In this town, Billy says, "everybody says you gotta follow rules" You walk up to the traffic lights, Switch from your left to right You push in that button, and that button comes alight It tells you "Walk, don't walk Talk, don't talk"' and 'Out on the wiley, windy moors We'd roll and fall in green. You had a temper like my jealousy: Too hot, too greedy. How could you leave me, When I needed to possess you? I hated you. I loved you, too'
  6. Wow a steerable rear axle, really lovely work here.
  7. I always buy second hand cars as did my dad - because new ones are so unreliable! The one car he did buy new was a Reliant Scimitar for my mum - that had three replacement rear axles under warranty, which at least gave the dealers time to stick back the bits of interior trim that kept falling off. Oh and I always buy BMWs! They still seem to have the radical philosophy of employing more engineers than bean-counters.
  8. Hey that's not fair changing the picture after I already got the answer! Now I don't know what it is - an HP Special GT? It does look better with those lights, good photo-shopping,.
  9. Well... I guess it would need to be a Heavy Duty cup holder and an uprated return spring on the lid of the cup! Sorry Paul, back to your build...
  10. Very good looking model. Do any of the body panels open? If so, can we see more pictures please?
  11. Must have been Yul Brynner then?
  12. A cup holder in a pro street car?!!! I totally agree with the rest of your comments, this is a great model.
  13. Steve McQueen, The Magnificent Seven
  14. Things we said today - the Fab Four - Macca sings!
  15. Whew! Google burnout - PM sent! Absolute killer, Harry!
  16. Some hydroplanes- Bluebird K4, Bluebird K7 and Slo-Mo-Shun:
  17. Well if the vote had gone the other way, Uncle Sam might have been involved as part of a NATO peace keeping force!
  18. Back to the topic - The famous Denis Jenkinson, aka DSJ, Motor Sport magazines European correspondent, was once stopped while in a 300SL Gullwing by a policeman who insisted that DSJ open the drivers door. Despite repeated warnings to stand well back the policeman stood his ground and insisted that the door be opened immediately. It caught him neatly under the chin!
  19. That's two things I've learned today on this forum.I guess the crew had to be really really careful how far off the ground they were before deciding to vacate the aircraft that way! Ejection I've got to escape Ejection Only one move to make Ejection Abandon this crate Ejection (off Captain Lockheed and the Starfighters, Hawkwind)
  20. Lovely car, lovely model, lovely colour!
  21. Okay here's some more! I will watch her dive beneathThe white cascading waters She may beg, she may plead She may argue with her logic And then mention all the things I'll lose That really have no value In the end she will surely know....
  22. "Ekranoplan" is a Russian term for "ground-effect vehicle". We call 'em WIG (Wing-In-Ground-effect). They don't actually fly, but stay in ground-effect. The big ones were intended to be high-speed missile carrying surface-attack alternatives to subs. Thanks for that Bill. I love stuff like that.
  23. Good news for Scotland, the UK and for me personally. But it's all a bit of a farce since we live in a world of multinationals!
