  1. Really lovely model, Ben. Would they really have stayed with that big fan for a quarter mile car though? Maybe bolt it back on along with the plates and the road wheels on the back to drive home... It draws you in like that, well done. -Don.
  2. Call me cussed but I don't see any Chevrolets so how can this be the top 13? Now if Metallica's singer had an Small Block in his '32.... -Don.
  3. Funnily enough, my first reaction to the artwork above was 'The perfect shopping car' - then I clicked the link and read 'As a kid, I thought the Badman would be the perfect automobile for all- around daily use: big-block Chevy, open headers, straight front axle, and “Adios Mother” painted across the trunk lid'. What's not to like? -Don.
  4. In the UK You Tube / skater scene there's arisen a big thing for 'epic fails', Usually involving extremely painful contact with trees or park benches and always extremely embarrassing and equally amusing for the bystanders... Dunno if that's made it across the pond? Or maybe that's where it came from? I must admit I like the irony in the expression.
  5. Fascinating how a language evolves in different ways depending where it's used. I think we're the richer for it...
  6. Pm not yet sent as I can't PM anyone at the moment for some reason! Good choice. You live and learn on this forum. -Don.
  7. Oh I get it, thanks Richard! I'm learning a lot on this thread.... -Don.
  8. ' The US "news" media has fallen in love with the term "tarmac," ' - they must be right they're on the TV! But two - lane Tarmac just doesn't sound the same... -Don.
  9. Yes, that's one of the reasons I love 2002s! And I miss manual window winders, lighter (in weight at least), more precise and much safer than electric equivalents. Oh, healthier too - a bit of regular cardio vascular and upper body exercise!

    Badman II

The ideal shopping car! Does it have an engine and things? I like it -Don.
  11. Let's not forget "accident". My Dad who flew for the RAF and ended up a test pilot always maintained that 'Accidents never happen.'. He had his share of prangs though!
  12. Out on the Blacktop / Tarmac...
  13. Well said sir. Although most of the words you've used came from the Romans and the Greeks... And personally I get them to hold the hash browns with my easy over...
  14. 'Valve Cover - Rocker Cover' - Nowadays most people in the UK say Cam Cover as most cars are OHC. We also use Philips screws, people don't call them crosshead any more - but do you say 'slot head' for the other kind in the US? -Don.
  15. Wow - thanks all, never thought there were so many! However did AC and Shelby manage to get the Cobra built? Cheers, -Don.
  16. Oh yeah, forgot that one. Also US Sway bar = UK Anti-roll bar
  17. A couple of comments on the latest Auto Id made me think about how American and British automotive terms have developed independently - here are a few that I know, does anyone have any more? US Hood = UK Bonnet US Top = UK Hood US Fender = UK Wing US Stickshift = UK Manual US Vent window = UK Quarterlight (I just learned that from Peteski) US Windshield = UK Windscreen -Don.
  18. Well, I never knew they were vent-windows in the States! Also good to know! -Don.
  19. Hmm - looks like your rig might be a little prone to understeer, Bill! Until you nailed it, then I guess it would be even more entertaining. Prettier than the donor though. Cheers, -Don.
  20. I do miss cars with quarterlights. Great for demisting the windscreen, and perfect for us terrible smokers... Maybe that's why you don't get them anymore - so much for 'progress'.
  21. Got it! PM sent Thanks, -Don.
  22. I got this on Monday but couldn't log in till today - PM sent. Good car!
  23. C'mon Bill! A journey of a thousand miles... Cheers, -Don.
  24. And with a proper engine they reckon!
  25. Hey Bill really want to see more of this one! I'm away a lot so don't get on the forum much nowadays... All the best, -Don.
