  1. It would still be nearly six tenths of a mile long and would rise and fall around 40 feet from the lowest to the highest part of the track! I was lucky enough to have the chance to drive an E30 M3 (BMW) around the 'ring a few years back, had a blast but you can't learn a track like that in half a dozen laps.
  2. Okay here's some proper lyrics!: The sword swallower walks up to you And he kneels He crosses himself And then he clicks his high heels And without further notice Asks you how it feels And says, "Here's your throat back Thanks for the loan"
  3. The wood effects look great!
  4. so is a Hemi a good cure for a headache?
  5. Back in '75 a friend of mine had a Mini that he fitted a Wolseley Hornet bonnet to, but without the Wolseley grille. This gave a really neat forward facing scoop. He also stripped the interior and drove the thing like he stole it. Sadly one night he got into a race with a local dentist driving an MG-B in the town where we lived. The two cars made contact, the MG clipped the kerb and rolled, both cars were written off and the dentist was killed. Big local scandal. Chris didn't go to jail for his part in it but lost his licence and his interest in driving. On a less downbeat note, here's a Hornet (a Mini with different bonnet, trim and extended tail) - you can imagine it without the special Wolseley grille, just an open scoop above the Mini grill.
  6. I was just wondering what had happened to this! Now I know. How will the driver get in and out? (I know, there isn't really a driver, it's a model - but you know what I mean!)
  7. Inspired by a dialogue in the Name That Tune thread: How can you tell when the drum riser is level? The drummer dribbles out of both sides of his mouth at the same time!
  8. I love the collection of vehicles in the background of your photo, John!
  9. A trucker is eating his lunch at a roadside grill when half a dozen Hells Angels roar up outside. They dismount and walk in past the trucker. One of them 'accidentally' jogs his arm and he spills a bit of coffee on his food. He just carries on drinking the coffee and says nothing. So another biker picks up the ketchup and empties the whole bottle over the trucker's meal. He just carries on eating. The Angels are tickled by this so another of them sticks a chip up each of the truckers nostrils while a fourth pours salt all over his steak. The trucker pulls out the chips, scrapes off the salt and finishes his meal, then gets up and walks out. So the bikers laugh and order their food. One of them says to the waitress 'He wasn't much of a man, was he?' She says 'He wasn't much of a driver either - he just reversed his truck over six motorbikes!'
  10. I guess you're right but why would someone's head give a clue as to the identity of the car? I'd like to think the guy in the coat is walking to his chopped and channelled Merc parked up the road... - just stooping a little!
  11. Good luck with the job, and keep the postings going please, I'm not generally a Ford man but I do love those Anglias - yours looks fine so far!
  12. Yes, he's certainly a good musician. Just doesn't chime with me, that's all!
  13. Fair point! Speaking of enthusiasm, here's one that always gave 200% (the inspiration for Animal on the Muppets, Jake?):
  14. 'Bentley Boy', Woolf Barnato. sketched out this Speed Six, the coachwork is by Gurney Nutting. The single back seat faced sideways due to the fastback design. I used to see this car, and met it's then owner. at our local Bentley Drivers club pub meeting, when I used to go with my Dad back in the seventies. I alwys used to say it was my favourite car, still love it/
  15. That'll be Love in Vain by the aforementioned best rock'n'roll band in the world! I You're so right about the point of this thread, the whole forum in fact.
  16. It was 4561 cc / 278 ci and yes it did look a bit like a hemi. It gave 220 bhp. There was a smaller 2548cc / 155 ci version they used in the SP250 sports car and the V8-250 saloon. Here's the bigger version: Sorry, back to the topic - to me the seats are good in that material, I remember them being rather like that back in the sixties
  17. The Beatles are (were) brilliant, and no-one can touch Lennon as a vocalist. But I have to point out that the Stones are the best dam' rock and roll band on the planet. We may have to agree to disagree on this! But please Harry, to see you mentioning Dave Grohl in the context of great drummers has quite spoilt my day! I agree with the others you list. But to each their own
  18. Yeah, just offset the rad so the turbo can pass some air and it'll be fine! Looking good so far.
  19. An augment? But I agree, I'm not a fan of some kinds of jokes - and that's just my opinion. It wasn't said as a joke, but I do see the humour in the immortal words of John Sedgewick in the American Civil war: 'They couldn't hit an elephant at this dist-'
  20. It's got to be the gasser! Either way it'll need tubbing.
  21. I know this one too! PM sent.
  22. The Stovebolt Special is now owned and competed by Simon Taylor, racing driver and now editor of Classic and Sportscar magazine. He hillclimbs and sprints it regularly, and drives it on the road. It is well fettled and now looks like this: It's worth a Google, there's a few videos of it in action up there. Still running three twos on that Chevy!
  23. Yes. I first heard this sung by Joan Baez, I love her version.
  24. Not boring at all, it's like a journey of discovery and it's great to see these models enjoying the light of day once more!
