Back to the topic - The famous Denis Jenkinson, aka DSJ, Motor Sport magazines European correspondent, was once stopped while in a 300SL Gullwing by a policeman who insisted that DSJ open the drivers door. Despite repeated warnings to stand well back the policeman stood his ground and insisted that the door be opened immediately. It caught him neatly under the chin!

"Ekranoplan" is a Russian term for "ground-effect vehicle". We call 'em WIG (Wing-In-Ground-effect). They don't actually fly, but stay in ground-effect. The big ones were intended to be high-speed missile carrying surface-attack alternatives to subs. Thanks for that Bill. I love stuff like that.
