  1. Yes, he was flying again within several months and flew Spit 8s out in Burma in '44 then later was a test pilot for Rolls Royce amongst others, on Meteors, Canberras, Javelins and anything else he could get his hands on. 'Can I have a go in that, old boy?'! He died some years back, in his mid eighties. If you're interested check out wunjopress.com/anevilboy.htm Thanks for asking. Now back to the topic - good to see this one again Bill! Cheers, -Don.
  2. Thought it was photo-shopped from a few different cars at first then my brain kicked in!. PM sent.
  3. The opposite of last weeks car - for me, this is horrible on every level and all too easy. If only I could forget it! Thanks Michael for raising a chuckle.
  4. It's all great apart from the door mirrors - I preferred the other set I've seen fitted to the car. I prefer the hard ones, I thought the second clue was a real giveaway but apparently not! Thanks.
  5. Missed this one. I like it, a good clean chop, the pink works surprisingly well. -Don.
  6. PM sent, beautiful car! Cheers, -Don. -
  7. I'll look forward to that, Michael. Cheers, -Don.
  8. Reminds me of Bob Dylan's Blues!: 'I ain't goin' down to no race track See no sports car run I don’t have no sports car And I don’t even care to have one I can walk anytime around the block'
  9. Thanks Bill I guess it's the old adage '... 6 million flies can't be wrong'. As long as people buy the mainstream stuff it's bound to marginalise the more discerning would-be customer. But you don't see many Camaros, '32 Fords or Vettes round these parts, 1:1 or to scale!. Cheers, -Don.
  10. I don't get the point of this thread. Where does the quote in the subject line come from? It bothers me that the gardening section in our local store has been taken over by cheap and nasty Christmas and Halloween junk, but I can say that I've never been concerned by too many of any particular type of car model. In fact it's rare to see any car models near where I live... -Don.
  11. Can I suggest we carry on as normal on the grounds that not everyone will have seen Trevor's comment and those who did can surely be trusted not to participate (as per Bill's honourable self-exclusion due to his reverse look-up)? I maybe motivated by the fact that I believe I'd got this one right yesterday and want to see my name in lights!
  12. I've seen worse....
  13. It looks like a 20M too which was my first guess. I bet the first owner wore flares and a kipper tie with matching sideburns...
  14. I just tried again - apparently I was close but no cigar!
  15. Don't knock it - Graham Hill used a modified one (still looked standard but would do near enough 100mph) to travel to races all over Europe during his time as a top level Formula 1 driver. Would cruise all day at 80mph - 5 or 10mph more than the standard cars top speed. An ex-girlfriend of mine drove one with some verve back in the '80s. Cheers, -Don.
  16. A slightly more challenging one to get the right model on this 'beauty'! Thanks, -Don.
  17. The easiest yet at least for me! Thanks Michael
  18. Clever use of an old tin bucket to craft the air scoops! Thanks Michael, I enjoyed that one.
  19. Well one consolation is that you can play Auto Id solitaire - you can select your own subject then try to work out what it is! Thanks to Michael and Bill for the information and thanks Matt for posting it in the first place and for brightening up my evening! Cheers, -Don.
  20. And did it inspire the first Audi TT?
  21. Yes, not a Pegaso for sure. And I agree, it's trying to look like something it's not. Cheers, -Don.
  22. So what is it? I'd got as far as looking for special bodied Simca Arondes... Cheers, -Don.
  23. Hi Michael I think you missed me off the list! I got both the French and Brazilian variants and you Emailed me with a yes to the latter. Thanks for putting these up, -Don.
  24. Well I'm sure this isn't based on a Porsche! PM sent
