  1. Hi Bill I sympathise as it happens my 530i Touring clutch slave expired on 30th December - I just got back from an interesting 20 mile clutchless drive down to my BMW specialist as I don't have time or resources to do it myself. Glad I learned to change gear the hard way at an early age in my old RME Riley, these old skills come in handy. Might write a strong letter to the Motorenwerke as the car has only done 250000 miles... Hope you get yours sorted soon. Cheers, -Don.
  2. PM sent, happy new year to Michael and fellow quiz contestants. Cheers, -Don.
  3. What scale is the Nothing? It could almost pass for a 1:1!
  4. It's not necessarily a new phenomenon. In our hallway by the front door we have this poem written in beautiful calligraphy by my sister: In my heart hate abounds I seethe with it on every occasion Since I've taken to hating fools I hate almost everybody - Jacques de Cailly, 1677. Present company excepted of course
  5. New PM sent. Thanks, -Don. -
  6. Well at least my PM did get sent OK in the end. Two quizzes for the price of one this week then! Thanks, -Don. -
  7. I doubt someone went to the trouble to change bonnet, wheels and grill, and even if they did, you can only go on what the image shows you. The point of the game is in the details, to my mind - but it is only a game! Keep it up Michael. -Don.
  8. Michael - that's well out there! Tried to send a PM to you but getting 'carsntrucks4you cannot receive messages.'. I'll try again later. Cheers, -Don.-
  9. In fairness Skip, your pictures do clearly show the differences in wheel and scoop size and the grill design that distinguish the two models, as Michael says. The difference in engine displacement is not so evident! Cheers, -Don.
  10. More my era! I remember these well. Thanks, -Don.
  11. I love this though it's a shame the fruit turned into veg - 'Vegetable Wagon' wouldn't have the same ring to it!
  12. Yes, he was flying again within several months and flew Spit 8s out in Burma in '44 then later was a test pilot for Rolls Royce amongst others, on Meteors, Canberras, Javelins and anything else he could get his hands on. 'Can I have a go in that, old boy?'! He died some years back, in his mid eighties. If you're interested check out wunjopress.com/anevilboy.htm Thanks for asking. Now back to the topic - good to see this one again Bill! Cheers, -Don.
  13. Thought it was photo-shopped from a few different cars at first then my brain kicked in!. PM sent.
  14. The opposite of last weeks car - for me, this is horrible on every level and all too easy. If only I could forget it! Thanks Michael for raising a chuckle.
  15. It's all great apart from the door mirrors - I preferred the other set I've seen fitted to the car. I prefer the hard ones, I thought the second clue was a real giveaway but apparently not! Thanks.
  16. Missed this one. I like it, a good clean chop, the pink works surprisingly well. -Don.
  17. PM sent, beautiful car! Cheers, -Don. -
  18. I'll look forward to that, Michael. Cheers, -Don.
  19. Reminds me of Bob Dylan's Blues!: 'I ain't goin' down to no race track See no sports car run I don’t have no sports car And I don’t even care to have one I can walk anytime around the block'
  20. Thanks Bill I guess it's the old adage '... 6 million flies can't be wrong'. As long as people buy the mainstream stuff it's bound to marginalise the more discerning would-be customer. But you don't see many Camaros, '32 Fords or Vettes round these parts, 1:1 or to scale!. Cheers, -Don.
  21. I don't get the point of this thread. Where does the quote in the subject line come from? It bothers me that the gardening section in our local store has been taken over by cheap and nasty Christmas and Halloween junk, but I can say that I've never been concerned by too many of any particular type of car model. In fact it's rare to see any car models near where I live... -Don.
  22. Can I suggest we carry on as normal on the grounds that not everyone will have seen Trevor's comment and those who did can surely be trusted not to participate (as per Bill's honourable self-exclusion due to his reverse look-up)? I maybe motivated by the fact that I believe I'd got this one right yesterday and want to see my name in lights!
  23. I've seen worse....
