So easy it sent me galloping off the wrong way totally. PM sent. BTW Hi Geoff - I went to Solihull school, lived at 626 Streetsbrook Road. Good memories!

Well you live and learn!

I may run out of time on this, can't wait to find out what it is!

After a couple of happy hours I conclude it's not car A which has wire wheels but not chain drive, and it's not car B which has chain drive but not wooden wheels! Good one Tulio.

That's my vote. They are all lovely, I can't help but prefer the ones that are based on the real cars but all are so evocative and priceless! Slightly off the point, I think if they were all real and were to run in the same race it would come down to who's piloting the Mercedes, but I'd still vote for El Chueco! Never seen his 250F referred to as a Maz before!

It's up to you what steering wheel you use - but I wonder if the driver can see the gauges? The sled is looking good anyway!

Another Hemi Car: Come On..REALLY?
DonW replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My 1953 Riley had hemispherical combustion chambers as do my BMWs! Accept no substitute... but on the other hand it's good to have a bit of a choice I guess. -
The Pontiac Bonneville was Syd's, he swapped it for something or other and sadly it didn't work so he never drove it! I had some friends who knew his family. Long after his last recording, they were talking about Syd and the phone rang. It was Syd, he thought they'd called him and wondered what they wanted... Great loss.

Use the force, Wayne!

Actually the looks are starting to grow on me, it's a bit odd but it's got a happy face. I shan't be troubling the car lots to try and get hold of one though...

I love the Beach Boys, but who is in the band nowadays?

Cheers!

PM sent, I recognised just where to start on this one!

Who watched the TV special on the Beatles...?
DonW replied to Ramfins59's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I'd say they already are, ever since Rubber Soul and Sergeant Pepper! -
Fair enough John! On a similar note(!) the Sisters of Mercy use a drum machine, they call it Doktor Avalanche and it seems to have the same status as the rest of the band. No I don't like their music much!

I saw them live supporting the Stones way back in the 1980s, in Bristol. They were good. But the strongest memory is of Mick asking us all to respect the wishes of the residents of the city and leave as quietly as possible once the curfew time was reached, apparently there had been a lot of concern about noise. So we're all dispersing like Mick asked - then the Stones crew started the most monumental firework display that shook Bristol to it's foundations for many long minutes. There were hundreds of complaints from the good citizens, but you just don't tell the Stones to leave quietly! Apart from that, I'm fed up with people saying the Beatles / Stones / (enter successful band of your choice) were talentless. It takes massive talent and commitment for anyone to write, produce, perform and sell their own material, you have to be deliberately obtuse to deny that. You may not like it, that's another very different matter.
-
Each to their own, you may not like the Beatles or their music but you can't deny their talent. I'm not a Stevie Wonder fan - but I respect his talent. Personally I like hard rock and psychedelic music, but that goes from Motorhead to Bob Dylan, the Doors, Joplin, Zeppelin, Hawkwind, the Stones, and the Beatles - I could go on! There's a lot of good stuff out there for everyone.

Sinkhole at Corvette Museum swallows 8 cars
DonW replied to mikemodeler's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yeah it's a great shame. We had a couple of these in the UK recently, one swallowed a car (not a 'Vette thankfully!), the other got some poor guy who was in his bed - they never found him... It's tragic about the museum cars, but am I right that no-one was hurt? How much warning do these things give people? -
Isn't it lovely though! Pretty rigid looking body too with no openings apart from bonnet (hood!) and 2 doors.

Ken have you got any pictures? What happened to it? Nice build, Kasey -Don.

We often have lots of snow here in South Wales in wintertime, but not this year. This morning for the first time this winter there was snow on the mountains and we had a few minutes of sleet but that was it. Sympathy to those of you who are suffering an excess of the stuff, not to mention the media scaremongering! My wife just brought me a mince pie that she just baked, and a teapot. I was on the 'phone and for some reason I assumed the teapot had custard in it (she often does that) so I poured it over the mince pie. It had tea in it of course!

Got it! Great choice Harry, PM sent.
