Great idea. I'll be watching.

I was hoping to be more along than what I am here but this part took alot of work. First off I added a wiring harness that I still have to do some work on regarding a couple of circuit breakouts from the main harness. I took a piece of telephone wire and stripped the end off of it and used coil winding wire from a GM fuel pump relay to wind around the phone wire to replicate the plastic black conduit that you see on alot of more modern engines. Then I put a terminal end on the alternator cable with a nut glued onto that. After that I started on the throttle linkage by building the bracket and pivot lever (which was four pieces when you count the two PE retaining bolt heads that I glued onto it going into the intake manifold) and got that glued in. I'm going to put a hold on the fine detail for the time being and build up the headers, paint them and glue those into place so I don't have to handle the engine very much when installing the rest of the throttle linkage and fuel delivery pieces. Progress pics: I'll be using braided fuel line like this: and anodized fittings like this (I've already got these on order BTW ) to replicate the fuel delivery system:

Well thank you for the resource there Mark! Turns out that the folks that offer the body also offer a promo style chassis to go with it as I found out. Just gotta save a little $$ to obtain those items. I've already got the cowl induction scoop located. What's funny is that before I saw all this I had bought this months Super Chevy magazine which had this on the cover: Coincidence? I think NOT!

Progress on this jewel?

Thank you so much everyone. So far.....so good. We're doing a follow up visit with the doctor in San Antonio on Wednesday. You guys are awesome!

I don't think those last two pics made it through. Can you try again? Stay with it Eric! The point is to finish. Good going so far buddy!

Well the good word is that my wife is home with us now! She now starts the next chapter in her recovery as we set up her therapy here in Corpus and begin the doctor visits that will monitor her progress using routine CT scans to ensure everything is still ok. I'd like to thank everyone who has followed along with that progress and has offered their support and prayers for her well being and recovery. We're just taking it one day at a shot here and rolling with the punches but all is very well so far. She walks with no assistance and the casual onlooker wouldn't know she ever had anything happen save for an eye patch for the time being. She'll have double vision for a while but as I understand it that's par for the course and should get better over time.

I will add a bit of humor to the equation here as my son and I were at Walmart in SA just yesterday morning grabbing a bite to eat at McDonalds inside. As we came back out to the car to go back to the hospital I spotted inspiration for my next build right there in the parking lot. It was a daily driver with a baby seat in the back seat. I couldn't help but to start laughing and thinking that I just had to make this one come to life in model form. I've spotted a body from Perry's resins so far but don't know what kit to pattern it after. Here's the link to the body. http://www.perrysresin.com/catalog/pages/gm_malibuwagon.htm Does anybody know what kit that's patterned after? The perfect "grocery getter":

Terrific display of skill Steve.

Thanks Mark. Well this weekend I went to visit her and she got a 4 hour pass from the hospital. We went to Walmart and then to Hobby Lobby. She works a lot with mosaic projects and never gives herself enough credit. She did absolutely amazing! She walked unassisted through the whole venture!!! She's down a lot because now she's the patient instead of the nurse but she's going to be ok I think. Her nurse today called her a "walking miracle" and that did some good for her to hear that I think. Her recovery so far has been nothing short of phenomenal.Looks like she may get released on Wednesday to come home to start another chapter in her recovery.

Keep at it there Eric. I can't tell you anything more than these guys have already except to stay patient like you're doing. You'll punch through.....no sweat!

Old Trusty Truck

And you're learnin'? Terrific work K.K.!! -
I got the plug wires inserted into the cylinder heads over the period of a couple of days. Part of the problem was the routing but I got it down I think. I also adhered the manifold to the engine. I ended up using a dab of GM sealer at the ends of the intake manifold just like I do in real life when I install an intake. Who needs those stupid end seals??!! Just install the runner gaskets and run a bead of GMS along the "China Walls" and plop 'er down!!

First off, welcome aboard Eric! Secondly, it looks like you are off to a great start here. I noticed that the paint on the body laid down fairly smooth. That's definitely a plus!! I'm looking forward to more with this Charger. Just a couple of words if I may. It's going to be tempting to dive in and go all out in terms of detail and outcome. I encourage you to keep building at your pace, don't compare your builds with others (we all start somewhere) and don't be distracted by detail or outcome yet. Stick to the basics and be patient with not only the model but yourself as well. A lot of us on here have been doing this for a while so feel free to ask questions and try not to get discouraged. Don't be afraid to post pics whether they are good or bad. That's where you're going to get your help right there. Stay with it brother, have fun, and you'll be knockin' show winners out before you know it.

How many builds do you work on at a time?
mustang1989 replied to MrBuick's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've gotta stick with just one at a time. I tried two once and I just couldn't seem to focus my attention like I needed to doing that so I sidelined the lower priority build and went back to one at a time.
