  1. Thanks Angel! I painted the front suspension this morning and tinkered around with the wheel mount points some more. Hopefully more progress this weekend.
  2. Thanks Carl! Hopefully I can get into some hardcore construction again by tomorrow morning instead of all this set up. lol
  3. Man that paint looks sharp Kevin..............dang!
  4. Like Jantrix, I think they all have their good ones and bad ones. I spent almost 2 decades working in General Motors dealership Service Departments so like most auto techs, I approach all vehicles in a technical aspect as well as a driver aspect and I always say this pertaining to them- These days they are all pieces of junk, some are just less so than others. As for the classics: I love Mustangs, Camaros, Chargers and the list goes on because all the "Big Three" had good ones. I tend to lean towards the ol' Chevy's a little bit just cause they are cheaper (and easier for the most part) to work on. I'm definitely a domestic auto kind of guy for sure, even though varying percentages of our autos are still manufactured elsewhere. There aint nothin' that gets my goat more than looking at a brand new part for a Chevrolet with a dang "Made in China" sticker on it. The almighty dollar.........good grief !
  5. Man the stance on this thing is just beautiful !!!!!!!!!! Can't get enough of this one.
  6. Good Grief Rich!
  7. I'll second that one right there!! I have one of these in my stash. I may have to give er a shot. Good build man.
  8. Welcome aboard Mark! Glad to have you here. I came here as a military aircraft builder and have been converted to model car building. I may have to build another aircraft and all but I'm having a total blast hanging out with this crowd. Look forward to seeing you around.
  9. Thanks Richard!! Over the course of the last few days I've been working on wheels and tires and the stance I want out of this thing. First off I got the wheels to fit better in the tires and then scuffed the road surface part of the tire up using a 1/2" socket on a drill. I'll wait on the finishing touches to the sidewalls till later on in the build. Still handling the tires too much right now. Then I went to work on manufacturing a set of springs for the front. The OOB ones were atrocious !!! Then I did some more work in the front in regards to wheel to spindle mounting and dropping the front end where I wanted it. Everything is mounted up as it will be with the finished product and now the stance is dead on with the exact look I was after. and finally the rear view. Now I get to move on to construction.......finally!!!
  10. Good Lord !!!! What tha ??? Holy....!!!! You gotta be....!!!! Wow!!! Nice technique on those seats and it looks killer !!!!
  11. LOL. I've always liked the look of this car and that's probably the main reason right there Greg. I had this kit as a kid 34 years ago and made a mess of it. While I'm not going to the great measures that you are with yours, I hope to make this one a helluva lot better than back then. lol. 'Course.............I built the gasser version back then too.
  12. Man I turn my head and then check back in and ol' Derrick here's got half the dam car built already! Screamin' progress and looks good so far bud! BTW if you ever wanted to paint those letters on the tires there's an acrylic white pen available at Hobby Lobby that works great. You've gotta be careful shakin' it up too much or pressing down too hard but it yields excellent results on the white letters on model car tires. It's worth the small purchase.
  13. I like the progress and the change up. Where did the carburetors come from?
  14. Now this'll be cool to watch!!! Go for it Dave!!!!
  15. Looks like you've got some neat ideas floatin' around with this one Anthony. I'm currently using this chassis on my Revell '54 Chevy Sedan Delivery build. I can't believe how well it fits up into the body of that thing.
  16. It's like Revell can't seem to make a re-tool of this one. Instead it's the same ol' stuff with a different set of decals...................and wheels.
  17. Thanks a lot Carl and Dave! Picked this one up yesterday for spare parts. Sheesh!!! I don't know how in the world Revell could market this kit under that theme and expect it to sell. Jeez!!! In any case a lot of the parts are cleaned up on these re-release kits I have found and I'll be cutting the rear door from the body to display it open.
  18. I agree with the high backs that you chose as well Rich! Keep up the good work. Man this is killer!
  19. Thanks Bill! Yeah I was even gonna build it like the box top and was thinkin' "Yeah..........yeah... ...no......no,no,no,no,no!!!!" lol
  20. I finished up with the rear suspension this morning by painting the shocks , the rear mount points on the springs, painting the spring mount bolts at the axle and adding PE bolt & nut heads to either side of the leaf spring mount eyelets at the spring ends. Shocks and rear axle/ suspension are now part of the chassis. I also added PE bolt heads to the front subframe to main chassis for a bit more realism. I ended up using a spare drill bit for an axle so that everything would tie up nicely between the wheel/ axle fit. Suspension progress with all shocks, plumbing and PE hardware installed: Here's the ride height I was looking for in the original mock up with attention directed towards the rear wheel/ tire in relation to the wheel opening. and here is where I'm at right now with the axle installed displaying assembled ride height as it is right now: Man those "meats" just look purdy underneath there don't they?
  21. Wow!! I never knew. Thanks for the information on that Bill!!
  22. And here I thought that AM only did cool WWII aircraft kits! Good lookin' build so far Derrick. Got any photos of the kit box?
  23. Yours is all well deserved man. A good model build is a good model build.
  24. Now this..........grabbed my attention. Wow!!! I have yet to ever see one of these!!!!
  25. Good job so far on this one James!
