  1. Got the carburetors underway. I used some throttle linkage from my Model Car Garage linkage PE set for the the throttle pivot lever and needles for the fuel inlet lines. I'll end up cutting the pointed portion of the "lines" off and routing fuel lines to them. I've got to finish the distributor and mount it into place with the ignition wires before I start on the rest of the throttle linkage but here's the start of that.
  2. Chris: Thanks bud! Fire away with those pictures! If it helps any, I tend to forget more than I remember! lol. It gets me in a lot of trouble with the Mrs. at times..... echo: Thank you for the link. I'm probably gonna order that resin frame and related goodies. Will have to wait till after me and my wife's anniversary but it'll get done. I appreciate your help.
  3. This is a really good lookin' build. I like what you've done with the engine. Great attention to detail.
  4. Okee dokee folks. This one is going to go back into the box for the time being. First off I don't have enough information on this one to pull it all the way together like it's supposed to look which brings me to point #2. I have never seen a kit that is this inaccurate and has such poor fit. The wheel base is WAY off and the engine is too far forward. There's gonna be a lot of fit issues and a lot of visible errors to contend with that's going to call on skills I don't have at the moment. I've never "put one on the shelf" but this one is going to require ALOT of patience and ALOT of attention to the point that I see this one taking longer than a year to correct and I'm not prepared to spend that long on it right now. I'm still gathering parts for it in order to put the correct suspension under it and am still working on ideas to properly relocate the engine and have everything that is visible under the glass to look "correct". I didn't want to leave this thread with a dead end so I'm giving a temporary closure to this build right now. When I get my bearings straight with this build I'll come back around to it because I do want to build this one. It really eats at me when I'm wanting to and can't for whatever reason. I'll definitely be revisiting this build. I do thank all who have encouraged me along the way with this one. Just know I'll jump back to it at some point.
  5. ..............and its RIGHT there on the BOXTOP ladies and gentlemen how big it is!!! 60cm x 54 cm. Sometimes we miss the very basics folks........
  6. It's been a while since I've had any kind of an update here. Just tryin' to spend more time buildin' and less time postin' ! lol I've got the front and rear suspensions set up.....finally!!! All the tires are test fitted into place. I have to order some replacement front tires. I trimmed 'em a little too much on the inner ring so the rim would fit properly.........dangit! A little closer in there to show the front springs and the brake calipers that I robbed from a Dodge Viper kit. I did a skeleton assembly of this kit the way it's supposed to look OOB. Good greif................ another view.......... A recap photo to show the difference...... Then the direct comparison shots.... Man am I ever glad I changed it up......Jeez!!
  7. Man the details are all there on this one JC!! Keep givin' it hell!!
  8. That's a nice lookin' Challenger there so far Randy.
  9. Still givin' it hell aren't ya Rich? That interior is lookin' great man!
  10. Wow!!! That would be a cool build to see! Can't imagine the work that would have to go into something like that! Just how big is that 1/144 scale Dora anyways?
  11. First off , welcome aboard Kevin!! Secondly , you're doing fine. Cant wait to see the rest of the build!!
  12. Yeah she'll most likely be keepin' that one for a long time after you're done with it. Way to go....dad!! .
  13. This is heading in a direction that greatly interests me. Great ideas so far Rick.
  14. Engine detail looks good! I like the wash on the air cleaner to bring out the detail of the filter element. I also like the upgrades to the suspension. Nice touch with the shocks and springs. Mister I couldn't have worded that better myself. Over engineered....................a lot!! Ten parts to build something that normally would only require around 2 or 3 maybe.
  15. Nice work so far Randy! I built....er...rebuilt one of these last year and enjoyed every minute of it. Monogram left a lot out in the underhood detail department but they turn into pretty neat little builds still.
  16. Man that's a slick paint job!
  17. Thanks Angel! I painted the front suspension this morning and tinkered around with the wheel mount points some more. Hopefully more progress this weekend.
  18. Thanks Carl! Hopefully I can get into some hardcore construction again by tomorrow morning instead of all this set up. lol
  19. Man that paint looks sharp Kevin..............dang!
  20. Like Jantrix, I think they all have their good ones and bad ones. I spent almost 2 decades working in General Motors dealership Service Departments so like most auto techs, I approach all vehicles in a technical aspect as well as a driver aspect and I always say this pertaining to them- These days they are all pieces of junk, some are just less so than others. As for the classics: I love Mustangs, Camaros, Chargers and the list goes on because all the "Big Three" had good ones. I tend to lean towards the ol' Chevy's a little bit just cause they are cheaper (and easier for the most part) to work on. I'm definitely a domestic auto kind of guy for sure, even though varying percentages of our autos are still manufactured elsewhere. There aint nothin' that gets my goat more than looking at a brand new part for a Chevrolet with a dang "Made in China" sticker on it. The almighty dollar.........good grief !
  21. Man the stance on this thing is just beautiful !!!!!!!!!! Can't get enough of this one.
  22. Good Grief Rich!
  23. I'll second that one right there!! I have one of these in my stash. I may have to give er a shot. Good build man.
  24. Welcome aboard Mark! Glad to have you here. I came here as a military aircraft builder and have been converted to model car building. I may have to build another aircraft and all but I'm having a total blast hanging out with this crowd. Look forward to seeing you around.
  25. Thanks Richard!! Over the course of the last few days I've been working on wheels and tires and the stance I want out of this thing. First off I got the wheels to fit better in the tires and then scuffed the road surface part of the tire up using a 1/2" socket on a drill. I'll wait on the finishing touches to the sidewalls till later on in the build. Still handling the tires too much right now. Then I went to work on manufacturing a set of springs for the front. The OOB ones were atrocious !!! Then I did some more work in the front in regards to wheel to spindle mounting and dropping the front end where I wanted it. Everything is mounted up as it will be with the finished product and now the stance is dead on with the exact look I was after. and finally the rear view. Now I get to move on to construction.......finally!!!
