Here we go. This is just after a washing with mild soap and warm water with everything nice and clean. and here is a day later after polishing with Novus #2 and then I hit it with Novus #1. I was shocked really because the original paint didn't look like this! and a shot of the rear of the body.... As one can plainly see, paint coverage wasn't a strong point of mine back then. lol more on the way........... -
Man that looks really good! Especially for being started over the weekend!!!!

Thanks Greg! Dude I'll tell ya....it's gonna take me a lot less time to do what I want to do with this build than it would if I started over. LOL! I'm buiding a 56 Ford F-100 now that I've been on now for about 4 months already and there's another 4 months to go at least. There aint no way I'm about to start another build right now. -

John: Thank you. I've gotta say my modeling skills back then were pretty much a "shake and bake" style. Al: LOL!!! -

Thanks Andy and Dave. I thought about the barn find look a lot but wanted to see her as I built it years ago. About the only thing I'll do is replace the front tires, headlights that are now missing and a few nick nacks here and there. I'm not going to do the same thing I did to my 70 Dodge Challenger that I built here with going all out just because I wanted this one to be as it was back then. -

More pics after taking it all apart. I was surprised at all the dust that had collected in the interior.... I may change that supercharger intake out. I think I have something that will work and look somewhat better... Here's the original glass hood after cleaning all the dust and grime off, shaving some excess flash off and dipping into Future: -

I must have gotten lucky because I sure didn't have the patience or the skills back then to iron things like that out. lol -
Man do I ever hear you there! I tried to use the decals on my F-100 that looked great on the sheet. Hell they even laid down great on the hood but when they dried they bubbled up so bad they looked like colored bubble wrap!!!

Cool! I built this one about 20 years ago and it was a dog of a kit. Will be watching.....

Great start! I really like the wheel change up. What's up with those red wheels on the box top?

Thanks Kevin! Daniel: Yes siree! That is a clear hood. It's hard to tell though. -
I started this over in the General Modeling section because I couldn't remember which kit this was. Thanks to those who replied and helped me find out just what this one was. I'll be taking this from its current state back to the way it was when I first got through with it some 30 years ago. First will come the clean up, then replacement of the headlights that have long since been knocked off and the installation of the windows. Also I'll be re-conditioning / replacing some of the parts that were damaged from heat along the way like the front tires. The parts will be coming from a spare kit that I picked up this morning. The end result is to not re-vamp this thing but merely to put it back to an original build state and then put it in my display case. I drove 500 miles visit with family and pick this up from my parents house over the 4th of July weekend and its the last of 5 models from that room that I have rescued. The other 4 were under the protection of display cases so they didn't fare this badly. What you are looking at is a model that's been exposed to 30 years of dust and North Texas 95+ degree heat in the back room of my parents house that has no climate control of any kind. So with that. I'll get started Baseline pics:

I really like the exhaust work Jim! Where would you get the exhaust clamps if you were to go that route?
