Came in the mail yesterday. These Accurate Miniature kits are amazing OOB and I've been wanting one of these for YEARS!! These things usually go for a pretty penny but found it still sealed up in the plastic for 25 bucks.
-
So THATS how you do it. Good idea and thanks for the tip.
-
Lookin' good Wayne! How do you get your brush painting to look so smooth. It looks AB'd on!

Man I'll tell you Wayne, I just love seeing these armor builds of yours come together. Great paint and scratchwork man.

If there's one thing I like it's unusual aircraft like this one which is nicely represented here. Alot of the Luft 46 stuff was "out there" but there were some good ideas floating around in all of those concept planes and subsequently real planes such as this. Thumbs up on the build and something different Phillip!

Good to see you back Danny! Looking good so far buddy.

Well folks I managed to get the flat coat/ sunbleached effect going. I mixed up some MM flat acrylic with a few drops of light grey and cut it all with 70% ISO. It gives me the desired look I'm after.
Here's the before coat shot
and the after coat shot .
Will be moving on to undercarraige and all the other stuff next. I hope to have her on wheels soon!
Another after shot:

I'll echo that Ray! Man that's alot of stuff packed onto the top of that bad boy Wayne! Thats all going to look great all painted up.

Chris:As Wayne said, that's going to work just fine. I use the same method on my aircraft interior builds and it works like a dream.
Mark:Did you say novice???? That looks great. Automotive builds are something I'm working towards in getting as good as you guys here are. Thumbs up on this build!!!!!! Let me know when you are ready and which picture to use and I'll get you posted on the intro post dude. You know you gotta sign up for round two and show us how you pull some of this kind of good work off.
Everybody:Thank you for the encouraging comments. I applied the flat coat this morning and noticed a little silvering in a couple of the decals. I'll have to weather those just a little more to hide some of that mess but other than that it aged/faded the paint nicely. The sun and weather in the Mediterranean theatre was never kind to aircraft.

Got the wash applied to the upper and lower surfaces as well as the elevators. Also been working on stuff like the landing gear assembly and painting. On the topside the panel lines were really brought out but on the bottom the effects of the wash are more apparent with staining and panel line definition I'm finally figuring out how to get the paint coats on thin enough to let the effects of the pre-shading to "bleed through" as clearly seen on the bottom and some of the areas on topside. Haven't gotten good enough yet to remember to pre-shade between the different colored coats of camo. Better luck next build though.

More to come, it's been a busy few weeks here.
First off Chris: your progress looks good and looking forward to the weathering of that crate/support.
Secondly man did you say that right brutha Wayne! My progress has slowed to a crawl for the same reason! Your Sherman is taking a great look on with that fabrication work of yours.

Man Ira,the left side of your brain has got to be superhumanlike in development. This stuff you come up with is amazing and it gets pulled off like it belongs! Watching................
-
The painting, decaling and weathering skills you used really bring this thing to life, and that's not to mention the photography. Great modeling.
-
Thanks Wayne! Man it's been a while since I've seen you! How's the sub coming?
-
Thanks Ray!! Can't wait to see another one outta you.
-
Thanks Chris! Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Never a question or an issue with these guys, just straight up service. Got a Stuka with a new box in plastic wrapping and everything that must have totally slipped through the cracks because the box was perfect and the sprues look like a silverback gorilla stepped on 'em. They replaced the kit! In a week!! No complaints at all here with their service.

Lets change the face of this bad boy a little here:
