  1. How about a pinstriped line instead?
  2. This is a beautiful model.Perfect design work. The leading edge of the fender skirt and the front fender/headlight panel leads your eye into a great forward angle that just shouts ground hugging kustom.Outstanding work that is a real eye grabber! As for a seperation device between the colors you might consider crafting a couple '53 Buickesque sidespears and either having them chromed or painted in alclad. No matter what you do this already scores very high on the "wow factor"scale.
  3. Nice glossy paint.Lack of that kills a lot of well intentioned builds.
  4. Blair, What will the Bedford recovery vehicle be based on?Something old?Something new?Or something strange painted blue?
  5. Sometimes it's good to step back from a project, put away some of the clutter that covers 90 percent of our work space and just chill.Personally I can tell you that any time I am not working on modelsI I am thinking about either what I am working on,or planning the next project,or looking for parts.Part of my brain is always focused on it.Ask yourself how many times you wake up in the morning with a solution to a problem you were having with whatever your current project was at that time. I have even given some models names that correspond to what time it was when I woke up with the idea.Case in point is a steam powered 1925 Ford model T coupe I call the "333"coupe.You guessed it,I woke up at 3:33 am with the basic concept and built the model based on that concept. I know we all look forward to your future posts on this very kool project!
  6. What a great thing for the builder of the real car to allow you complete access to it and then step up and offer you some of the original paint! That's not something that happens very often. No worries abou the color being"close"or"almost right"this time.I'm sure this build is going to see a lot of magazine coverage, all well deserved.
  7. Great job.realistic scale details and finish.Really a model to be proud of. You mentioned wanting to get a rorary tool for thinning door jambs,I would suggest looking into the Dremel Stylus model. It's extremely handy as it's finger tip contrled much like a stylus for a tablet device. They are battery powered so there's no cord to mess with either.I got mine on line as none of the LHS I have available do not handle them. You can add their # 4486 multichuck that fits all the tools tips you'll ever need and you'll be ginder'sheaven!
  8. I am Ardun....Hear me roar!! Personally I'd like to see someone(with better eyes than mine)do a disassembled quick change that could be displayed on a work bench or on the blacktop under a rod that was being repaired by it's owner.
  9. Now we're talkin!I would two door one one these in half a heart beat and drop it to the ground.I think I'll start a search for one of these and add it to my already too long bucket list of things I like to build before I get to old to remember which end of my Exacto knife is the sharp one! Any one with one that's available please pm me.
  10. I highly recommend Replicas and Miniatures to any builder looking to create a traditional hot hod model. He has engines, manifolds, wheel and tire combos,Duval and Hallock windshields frames plus a whole lot more.Superb quality castings and finite details not availble anywhere else in this type of parts.
  11. Use the quick change.Old age is not for wimps! We have reached "the metallic age":silver in our hair, gold in our teeth and lead in our ___.
  12. Yor are making the right decision by scooting back from the bench and spending time with your grandchildren. The models aren't going anywhere but the kids will be grown and gone all too quickly.Kudos from one grandpa to another!!
  13. The last time I saw Rick he told me the high end die cast market he was employed in really in trouble and that he had been let go from Danbury. His actualy employment for many years was working at a shop that installed sun roofs in cars.Rick is a great guy and a great model builder as well.
  14. Outstanding weathering.Would you please consider posting a tutorial on how you applied that rusty finish?
  15. I have benn trying to find a current email address for long time friend and fellow NNL member Rick Hanmore from NY but all my messages boomerang back. Woody42@woh.rr.com
  16. A lot of your pix are posted sideways. You might want to check on that.
  17. Hard to find any unused superlatives at this point in the comments.Scratch building at this level si truly becomes an art form. You have to be able not only know what the real thing looks like but be able to go beyond that andundersdtand how all of the systems work and the proper way to plumb and connect them correctly. You've succeded very well in all of those areas and done it in very believable scale. The chassis work looks absolutely real except someone keeps photo shopping that darn quarter in there.I applaud your exceptional skills and dedication to replicating this car co accurately.A real show stopper and a lot of fun to follow. This will surely has to inspire a lot of builders to try something new or add more details than they had planned.Thank you being willing to share your process with the rest of us.
  18. Tommy, that shelf between the back seat and rear window glass is called the package tray.
  19. Nice hot rod build.I like the color choice as well.Great to have a build not drag on for months and months and still turn out so beautiful.
  20. I love these Aero sedans.Wish Galaxie would reissue that kit.If you have any questions about under hood or interior details I might be able to help as I have a real one parked in my garage.
  21. Nice choice of body type to build.I buit one of these back when the original kits were still available on the store shelves.I built it for my brother in law who had just purchased a real one in that awful light green color that was avail from the dealers at the time.Good luck.I'll be following your progress.
  22. Not being sure just what that engine was I looked it up on the web. That will be an interesting scratch build for the motor alone. There are a lot of drawings and photos available on line to assist with details. Will the exotic engine choice influence any other features such as wheels, interior appointments or suspension engineering choices?
  23. The Cougar name was one of the labels being considered for what eventually became the productionnMustang.Atfer that name was rejected it was applied to the Cougar show car.
  24. Great job!Outstanding body work for such a fragile body.I am also pleased to see that I'm not the only one that has sanded into a big pile of body putty and found a car hiding inside. All kidding aside this is one to be proud of.
  25. Everyone one who replied before I saw this has already laid on the great comments and praise I was thinking.Outstanding build, great realism, very realistic foil work and something you should be very proud of.As heavy as the real cars look they were the rulers of the NASCAR world for a long time.
