  1. I've been trying to decide on a paint scheme for this truck. Since I started on it I was thinking of blending the grill shell into the hood like a 349. Then I found this. I think I found my color scheme. What do you guys think? Red cab/hood, white chassis, red drum, white fenders?
  2. Thanks a lot JT. I'm glad you like it. I agree, these fenders can look great with a little trimming. Thanks for the kind words. When are we going to see a new Orange Rig?
  3. My vote is for the larger Revell tanks. Nice work on the motor, and the chassis.
  4. The bevels are flat yes, and I used CA glue. Be very careful to only use the smallest drop of the glue in just a few spots until it sets, then take the hinge apart, then you can add a little more glue. I laid the three sections of the hinge in the beveled cradle, put a tiny drop on each section(three drops, three sections), then let it set, then slid out the center rod and had two parts of the hinge on one side, and the middle part of the hinge on the other side. Then I ran some heavier beads of glue. I hope this helps.
  5. I just found this thread, and WOW! I like what I see. Great work, great concept. The cool thing about a great custom model idea is when it's brought to fruition by top notch building. I'll be following from now on.
  6. I really wish one of these model companies would make a Peterbilt 359
  7. AITM makes this, but you'd be better of just using a W-9 and making your own fenders, or see if Dave would sell you just the fenders. http://www.aitruckmodels.com/pages/ck100kenworthc500.html
  8. Bob, he actually had the nerve to be nasty to you? After ripping you off?
  9. These came in today from Tower. Both of these will be wreckers. One boom truck, and one flatbed.
  10. Very nice work Jarda. I like it!
  11. Yes that definitely looks like Cummins manifolds on both trucks.
  12. Dennis, from what my book says (there isn't a twin steer model in it), it could have had either twin Detroit 6-110's, twin Cummins NRTO-6-BI "turbo diesel", or one truck had twin Detroit V12's. All trucks in the book have Allison 4 or 6 speeds, some trucks have two trans. As for the model, it could be a 1LLD, 2 LLD, 3LLD, 4LLD, 5LLD, or 6LLD. Also a R-55, or a R-62. These all look the same as the Hake truck, but not twin steer.
  13. Man that G model is cool! There aren't too many of those around anymore. I have a resin cab, but haven't seen a lot of inspiration. Thanks for posting this
  14. That chassis looks great. I remember Roadway ran some of these Fords. That could be a color suggestion, orange and black? White trailer? There are Roadway decals in the Mack DM 600 kit.
  15. Excellent job. Very clean build
  16. Looks great. I may have an extra set of the fender flares from the AMT kit if you want them. This thing is gonna look awesome!
  17. Yes, the Ford is frontier. I find the quality to be good. I have about 5 of his cabs and they are all nice. I havent built any yet, so I cant attest for interior/dash fitment or things like that. The prices can be a little high, but hes the only one with these cabs, and I feel theyve been worth it.
  18. The spec sheet on the truck just says "modified Detroit Diesel 653 cu". The pic was definitely took back in the 80s. This was one of the more expensive ones built. Tons of chrome, all sorts of custom cool stuff. There were only a few trucks with diesels and they weren't competitive in racing because the supercharged gas engines were getting so much faster. Here's another inspiration pic. It's a diesel powered Ford, but it's not a Detroit. It has a Continental out of a military truck. King Kong built by Jeff Dane in Killeen Texas. First on 48"s then on 66"s.
  19. Heres another Detroit powered Ford sitting on 73"s. Just to add some inspiration!
