  1. Thanks Clayton. Its a replica of a 359 that my dad had. I built it from memory, and it had been years since I had seen it. The paint job ended up being way off. I finally got some pics of it years later. I plan on building a 1/16 of it later on. This is actually the 2nd incarnation of my very first truck model. Its scheduled for yet a 3rd rebuilt. Heres the 1:1
  2. Thanks Dennis, it was built as a "Thank You" gift about 5 years ago.
  3. Sean, what a great build. The color sheme is classic, the 5 hole buds make it "not too dressy", but something that was worked everyday by a blue collar owner operator(not that there are any rich truckers). I like the single stack, steerable front axle, Hendrickson susp, and painted front bumper. My absolute favorite feature of this build, no matter how mintute it may seem, is the single horn. Great job man. This is a great addition to the shelf.
  4. Good to have you back Tom. I too have experienced a disturbance in the force(I hope I said that right, Ive never seen Star Wars). My wife used to primarily work nights(plenty of build time) but now she works only days(shes home with me, zero build time). So, unfortunatley, there wont be as many posts from me ;( . Ill try to adjust to this new arrangement, and find some time to build.
  5. Thanks Jeff. The welds probably should have been a little smaller, but it was my first time doing this. As for the plumbing, I plan on doing as much as possible. Engine, air lines, fuel lines, and what I can figure out on the mixer. Im not too knowledgeable on mixers, but as usual Im using what I can find in photos. Wreckers and dump trucks are my background. We always had a little of both.
  6. Hey, I can do the shiney thing! (I know Ive posted these to death)
  7. Thanks Tom. I hope you can find some time to get another build going. I need to make some time myself.
  8. Absolutely amazing work. Thanks for sharing the in progress shots. Your a very resourceful scratchbuilder.
  9. Thanks for the compliment. I dont think this one will have any weathering, unless I mess something up! This will be a fresh picked from the dealership rig.
  10. 99% of the time you just detach and unload, and re-attach. Theres not many scenarios where you would leave the deck behind. There are blocks on some lowboys that brace against the trucks frame while its unattached. As for if you can drive down the road with just the gooseneck, I really dont know. Ive never seen anyone move more than a couple hundred feet from the deck.
  11. Great deal. You came out on top of that one for sure.
  12. I would put it at about $40.00, but unfortunately theyre selling at about $80-$100.
  13. Looking good Sean. The old Pete looks tough with the walking beams. What motor did you end up going with?
  14. I have. It was fairly easy with several movable sections, so pay attention to what not to glue. The only thing I didnt like about it is the moulded in wood, as I prefer to replace it with balsa wood so it can be stained, damaged, bolted etc. I could have cut the fake wood out, but it would have damaged all of the crossmembers underneath. All in all, its a good build.
  15. Great Haul! I hope those Ford kits didnt hit you too hard. They are getting rare. I have those two myself. I would like to get the issue of the Ford LNT tractor with the blue box art. That Budweiser trailer is cool as well.
  16. No, not great, but workable. Its better than scratchbuilding one.
  17. I have bought a bunch of Kens 1/16 Cummins. They are a little rough, but workable.
  18. Yeah, it was totally a joke. I was just pulling Chucks leg, and simultaneously starting the urban legend of the "Autocar transit mixer".
  19. Nice work.I Iike the blue. My brother had a 379 that was just about that same color. Is the Gw hood an extended hood, or standard?
  20. Great work Pat. This is a really nice piece. Its very unique, and represents the 1:1 accurately. Plus, its just cool ;)
  21. Man, this build is simply stunning. It is really fantastic. Im sure were all itching to see some build pics if you have any. Super, super job man. Really, this thing is awesome.
  22. Great build! I love the custom mixer unit. It looks like the resin tires have been modified? Have the sidewalls been flattened? They look better. That RM 800 is a great build subject also.
  23. This is looking great. Nice work on the V800. Now that the cab is in paint, the mods to the hood look excellent.
  24. Very cool rig Chuck. I really cant tell that it was a snap kit. The motor swap is cool, as are the spoke rears.
