Thanks Clayton. Its a replica of a 359 that my dad had. I built it from memory, and it had been years since I had seen it. The paint job ended up being way off. I finally got some pics of it years later. I plan on building a 1/16 of it later on. This is actually the 2nd incarnation of my very first truck model. Its scheduled for yet a 3rd rebuilt. Heres the 1:1

351 Peterbilt conversion
Superpeterbilt replied to Old Buckaroo's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Sean, what a great build. The color sheme is classic, the 5 hole buds make it "not too dressy", but something that was worked everyday by a blue collar owner operator(not that there are any rich truckers). I like the single stack, steerable front axle, Hendrickson susp, and painted front bumper. My absolute favorite feature of this build, no matter how mintute it may seem, is the single horn. Great job man. This is a great addition to the shelf. -

Good to have you back Tom. I too have experienced a disturbance in the force(I hope I said that right, Ive never seen Star Wars). My wife used to primarily work nights(plenty of build time) but now she works only days(shes home with me, zero build time). So, unfortunatley, there wont be as many posts from me ;( . Ill try to adjust to this new arrangement, and find some time to build. -
Thanks Jeff. The welds probably should have been a little smaller, but it was my first time doing this. As for the plumbing, I plan on doing as much as possible. Engine, air lines, fuel lines, and what I can figure out on the mixer. Im not too knowledgeable on mixers, but as usual Im using what I can find in photos. Wreckers and dump trucks are my background. We always had a little of both.

Questions about Detatchable Trailer
Superpeterbilt replied to raildogg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
99% of the time you just detach and unload, and re-attach. Theres not many scenarios where you would leave the deck behind. There are blocks on some lowboys that brace against the trucks frame while its unattached. As for if you can drive down the road with just the gooseneck, I really dont know. Ive never seen anyone move more than a couple hundred feet from the deck. -
Peterbilt 351 project
Superpeterbilt replied to Old Buckaroo's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Looking good Sean. The old Pete looks tough with the walking beams. What motor did you end up going with? -
I have. It was fairly easy with several movable sections, so pay attention to what not to glue. The only thing I didnt like about it is the moulded in wood, as I prefer to replace it with balsa wood so it can be stained, damaged, bolted etc. I could have cut the fake wood out, but it would have damaged all of the crossmembers underneath. All in all, its a good build.

Superpeterbilt replied to RocketJockey87's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Nice work.I Iike the blue. My brother had a 379 that was just about that same color. Is the Gw hood an extended hood, or standard? -

Great build! I love the custom mixer unit. It looks like the resin tires have been modified? Have the sidewalls been flattened? They look better. That RM 800 is a great build subject also. -

This is looking great. Nice work on the V800. Now that the cab is in paint, the mods to the hood look excellent. -

Very cool rig Chuck. I really cant tell that it was a snap kit. The motor swap is cool, as are the spoke rears.
