  1. Good luck on your build, and if you have any Diamond Reo questions, just ask. There are plenty of knowledgable guys here. I have a few books on them, so I may be able to help.
  2. I like the color scheme. It remindes me of one my dads old WFL cabovers.
  3. Is It the oil filters?Thats the only difference I can see, but Im pretty sleepy.Nice work on that cab. The step buckets look great. I kinda want to build a daycab now.
  4. Thanks guys. Ive been wanting to do this to some of these wheels for awhile. The real split rim Alcoas never had that protruded ring on them. Sean, my plan was to use some hex rod and "round nose" it to look like the classic old lug covers. I havent figured out what size yet. Im sure I have some old lug covers laying around the shop. I have most of the hex rod sizes, so it shouldnt be a problem.
  5. Nice work. At first I wasnt sure about that super high cab, but now that its coming together it looks good. I myself have thought about building a cabover rigging truck.
  6. Im excited for you. Truck models open up a plethora of possibilities. With just those three kits, you can reconfigure them in many ways. You cant really do anything "wrong" with a truck model, because more than likely someone did something even weirder in reality. Wheels, fuel tanks, engines, sleepers, wrecker/dump/mixer bodies can all be swapped around however you want. Welcome to an obsession!
  7. Fine job. I like the color, and all the little attention to detail.
  8. That suspension is absolutely amazing. This thing looks killer.
  9. Thats not the chassis that Im using, but it will be that long, yes. I want a stretched out old school west coaster.
  10. Ill start this truck off with the most important part, the wheels. If the wheels dont look right, the whole build wont look right. Ill start by cutting off the lugnuts and drilling holes where the lugs were. This is to locate the lug pattern after I file down the ring on the rim. Then, using my calipers I scribed a line .030 down from where the ring sits on the rim. This will be a guide to file down the lip so the ring will sit down further. After filing This is the finished result. Inner ring filed off, and outer ring sitting lower so the rim sticks out more. Mock up chassis wearing new wheels front and back. This is all for now. I will begin the long tedious process of cleaning up all of the parts, filing seams, squaring up edges, and sanding everything. Then, I will tackle the cab sanding, scribing door jambs, etc. At this point Im not sure if I will open up the doors, but I will make the front axle steerable. There will be plumbing, air lines, linkage etc. Ive waited a while to build one of these cabs, so Im gonna make it good!
  11. Nice work Sean, that looks great.
  12. Just to see how the wheelbase would work out, I mocked up the cab on a built up W900 chassis. Im happy with the length, and it looks like the cab will be a good fit without too much hassle.
  13. From what I was told, most of these cabs were mastered out of wood. Dave has thinned down a lot of them. Years ago when it was MTFACO, the thickness of these cabs was much worse. I usually leave these cabs curbside(but still with engine), but I have spent the time with a dremel, thinning it out also. Nice work.
  14. Im not sure who made this one. I have three of these cabs and theyre all from different casters. It very well could be backyard shed.
  15. Great project. Just a tip, this wrecker body is too wide for these kits. Its usually about .250 too wide. This can be fixed by narrowing the bed floor. Good luck with your build.
  16. Most of your options are going to be in 1/25. Most of those trucks you mentioned are available from AITM. He carries a Sterling and several Autocars. There isnt really much of anything in 1/24.
  17. No, the K123 is the new issue with the walking beam suspension.
