  1. Too cool Sean. The stacks look great. I just cant get over how good the cab looks.
  2. Hey Gator, welcome aboard. I sent you a PM.
  3. Very nice JT. Good idea with the mirrors.
  4. Dude.... That is the coolest. Good choice in red.
  5. I really dont know Sam, it was just something that was in a box. Im wanting to say it was with a Revell model I have.
  6. Thanks Sam. The black line is just the roll of tube that comes with the old AMT kits. The yellow is some tiny coated copper wire. As for the symmetry, I drilled holes where each end attatches. I superglued one end and let it sit overnight, then using tweasers to bend them, I sized them up and snipped the ends until they appeared equal. The fitting on the yellow line is just tiny hex stock. I glued the line to the fitting first(leaving some excess line), then glued the fitting to the truck. When the glue was dry and strong, i bent the lines into place and glued them. This was not without aggravation. I broke the yellow lines off several times trying to achieve this. I hope that helps.
  7. This is coming along great Dennis. Im very glad your tackling this. I cant wait to see it progress
  8. Small update again tonight. I just did a little more work on the lines. I drilled a hole in the tank for the hose and permanently mounted it to the frame. I ran some copper wire through the trailer frame for air lines. I added some flat strip to the sides of the hose fitting to make it a wingnut.
  9. Thanks for the info Pavel. Just got this in today Ive never really been a fan of this truck for a few reasons. I dont really love the wide chrome rims in the front(that are the wrong scale), or the spread rear suspension. But after seeing Jardas build(Truckabilly), and all of his corrections to the kit(extended hood, motor swap, etc) suddenly I wanted one. I guess Im just a sucker for correcting a kit. Heres Jardas build if you havent seen it. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=47089&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1
  10. I got lucky today. I went browsing the spray paint at lowes and brought a decal with me. I found a match thats good enough for me. This is a Valspar spray green highland(its not really green).
  11. Thanks Clayton. Sean, the lights are only loosely attatched. Im thinking about pulling them off and casting them. I have a bunch of old school Petes that could use them.
  12. Another small update. I mounted some '32 Ford headlights on the 359 pedistals. I cut some brass tube to attatch to some 18 guage wire to use as hydraulic line. I only had green, so it will have to be painted. I also drilled holes and started running air lines.
  13. I could be wrong, but I believe they belly wrap the chain completely around the logs. They are chained to themselves.
  14. Im going to replace the two bars and add some photo etch mesh behind it. It will have the stock look, youll just be able to see through. Im about to get started now, Ill have some pics up later.
  15. Thanks Dan & Dennis. This one came out better than the first one I tried.
  16. Thanks JT, glad I could help. I grabbed a hanfull of these things from the Hardware store about ten years ago. I didnt know how I was going to make it work, but I knew I could use it. Then just recently I figured Id give it a go. Mostly because somehow I ended up with more dump trailers, than rams. Now they will all be replaced with this setup.
  17. Not a huge update, but I cut out the grill. I tried to save the two center bars, but they broke. I also did some work to the hydraulic ram. I sanded the putty on the trailer, and hope to have it in primer tomorrow.
  18. Jim the cab was 57-59 with a choice of single or double headlights. I chose the double, but Im not sure what year it is. I will look it up eventually.
  19. Today in the mail was a Ford Big Job resin conversion from Frontier. Its a good quality casting. The donor will be the Ford race car hauler kit. I want to put a pretty obscure car on it, I just dont know what yet. Maybe a ford Thunderbolt or a Mercury Cyclone. Now that I have it, I definitley want a second to use with the Ford dump truck kit.
  20. I think Im going to give up modeling and take up field hockey. Seriously, this is so impressive that Im exhausted. Can I ask where you sourced the brass/copper diamondplate? Or is it cleverly painted styrene?Again, mind blown.
  21. Looks great. Nice clean fit on the two cabs.
  22. Its almost full. One other reason I needed this is, during the winter its too cold to work in my shop so I need my stuff portable to bring to the kitchen table. Heres the first one I made
  23. This is the only one I dont have. Ive always liked this box art. Congrats
