  1. That Freightliner is clean, and that trailer is amazing!
  2. Looking good so far. Ill be watching this one. Are you going to put a roof on it?
  3. Thanks man, thats a huge compliment. Dave built this a number of years ago. Id be lying if I said that this truck, and a lot of Daves other trucks havent inspired me. I do have one of these in the works, but these trucks are all scratch built. Uve been working on mine for years just to have a rolling mocked up truck. Im building it off of the blueprints of the real truck that I got from the Mack museum. Well, you can copy the link here if you find it.
  4. The revell kits are snap together, and not even close in detail to the Freightliner. The wheels, suspension, frame, etc are toy like compared to the detail of the Freightliner. They are different skill levels.
  5. Well Clayton, Im flattered. Seriously, im glad you like it that much. It turns out, its my favorite also. Just because of the length of detail. It was the first of many firsts for me. And for favorite built by another modeler, it would have to be Dave Natales replica of Dave Mauros Mack FKSW. From what I know the 1:1 is the last diesel 6 wheel tractor in existence. Daves model is as impressive as the restored 1:1. The bar was definitely set high with this one.
  6. I think it would be interesting to see everyones favorite build from their own collection to date, and favorite build from a fellow modeler. It can be current, or from years ago. Show off your favorite piece, and the piece you wish youd built.
  7. Excellent work. Great sectioning on that dash and interior.
  8. most of that looks copied from the "Can Do" wrecker, and thats what I was going to suggest.
  9. I would guess that it has hydraulics under the cab. It would have to still tilt some how.
  10. Thanks a lot fellas. Classic Old School is what I was going for, so I guess Im pulling it off. Now for the most tedious detail yet. Im leaving off the Pete hood ornament and replacing it with two handles like we had on our Pete. I bent the handles out of .030 brass round and filed the bottom flat. It took a few tries to get the shapes simetrical and uniform. Im happy with the outcome Ive also been working on the Cat. Being that it was a snap engine, I filled in some of the holes, and filled in the backs of some of the hollow pieces. I cut off the transmission and replaced it. A top plate and bolts have been added to the trans. All of the engine seems on the turbo etc, have been smoothed and puttied. The motor will be painted the same Antique White as the stripes on the truck.
  11. Great score Sam. Im glad to see you finally got an Autocar. Hopefully its the first of many.
  12. The tractor has been painted and decals installed. I got the tailights in and mudflaps on. Still a ways to go.
  13. It looks to me like it could be a Montone. I have a brochure on them. Just PM me and I can scan it for you.
  14. The problem would be clamping on the resin without breaking it, and most cabs would have too many curves to machine in flat sections(Im assuming your wanting to use a mill?). The resin grinds away so easy with the dremel. As long as it has the speed control, you dont want to run it wide open.
  15. More amazing work. That boom is spectacular. Good call with the custom shape. Its really the only thing that would have worked.
  16. I dont how a street roller is better than a massive American engineered car eating Dinosaur, but whatever. Cool find. Ive always wanted to see it hooked to a truck. I havent seen that thing in years. I didnt know it was still around.
  17. Awesome, thanks again. Much appreciated
  18. Im glad I found this. I plan on doing the same conversion. All of your photos are very helpful and the car is coming along great.
  19. Thats really the main two issues. The 3408s come in the Revell KWs, and I know we have that engine list in the Truck Stop for what else it might come in. Im sure someone has one for trade.
  20. Thanks for the info. Your recommending the Revell also?
  21. From what I understand there are two of them. Clydes I is a 379, and Clydes II (the kit truck) is a 359 extended hood. Bill Signs also has some matching 357s and 377s in the fleet also. I think Clydes I & II are the only ones with the custom grill. It looked like they all had the spread axle set up.
