I modified a telescopic magnet retreval tool into a hydraulic ram. First step, carefully take it apart. Each section is held in place by two brass shims. These shims are dimpled and held in place by drilled holes. Figure out how long it will need to be and mark each piece. I marked how much I needed to cut off and drilled new holes near the new trimmed end.*Important! Drill new holes before cutting to legnth. Next step, with a cut off wheel on a dremel, cut to length. Then, with a small file and exacto knife, debur and clean up cut ends. Then start carefully reassembling it. Stick sized pieces back in side the larger piece, holding the brass shims in place until pressed back inside. . It will be attatched at both ends eventually.

Thanks a lot guys. I started building the 3406, and Im going to have to shoe horn it in. Im going to have to move the firewall back, because without extending the hood its not going to fit. No turning back now! I added bolts the the 5th wheel plate and wet tank Stock air cleaner swapped for a Farr I mounted the trailer mudflaps on chains

How to working with Photoetched Parts
Superpeterbilt replied to Pavel A.'s topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Thanks Pavel! -
Update: I dropped the 2nd fuel tank. This truck will only run local. I also tossed the catwalk and moved the wet tank closer to the cab. I got rid of the tiny Alcoas, and added some resin 5 holes and some spokes in the back. Now its lookin right. I added some angle to the bottom of the 5th wheel plate, and will add some bolts to the angle. Now that I have it configured correctly(for me), the next thing I will do is build the Cat, mount the auxillery, run the brake lines, a little plumbing, and a little body work. Comments are always welcome.

Revell snap Peterbilt
Superpeterbilt replied to Old Buckaroo's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I agree with Jesse, but part of me thinks the tank and box would look good green, to break up the red. Not that theres too much red, its looks great. This really is a cool lil truck! -
Awesome! This kind of thing is not usually my cup of tea, but this is excellent. Great job!

Ill throw my .02 in on this topic. Box art has never been a deciding factor in buying a kit. It just depends on if I want the vehicle or not. With that being said, I much prefer to look at the "art"work on the boxes. There are a few photo boxes that I display, but usually its the illustrated all the way. After all, there has to be an element of imagination to all of this no matter how old we get.

Heres my progress for tonight. I added brackets to the trailer frame to hold my shovel I added some steps to the front of the trailer I also didnt like the vertical tailgate, so I angled it a little I fooled with the tractor a little. I moved the driver side fuel tank forward a little and started modifying the wet tank. I also shorted a catwalk from the DR kit. I also added some left over Italeri hood hinges and cut off that poseable hood tab. Tomorrow Im going to get started on the 3406 and fab up the exhaust. Im going to add an auxillary trans and fab up the shift linkage.

Road Boss 2?
Superpeterbilt replied to Chuck Most's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks for confirming Mark. I guess its retaliation for some of the first COEs being conventional cabs set up a little higher with a bubble nose. Its makes good sense for mass producing. -
Road Boss 2?
Superpeterbilt replied to Chuck Most's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Im sure someone can confirm or debunk this, but I heard that the conventionals were just COEs with a hood in front of it. A mechanic I know told me that he flipped the hood, and the firewall was the face of the cabover. Is that true? -
Thanks guys. Well, I decided what to hitch it to. I wanted to do the trailer in a turquoise color, and I really wanted to put it behind a Pete. Then I remembered I started a Cali Hauler in that very color awhile back. So, here it is. All the truck needs is a motor, and the cab painted. I sold the detroit out of it. I think I may put a 3406 in it and make the hood tilt for a change. I usually glue them shut.
