  1. Future or equivalent might take care of the fogging; probably not the yellowing though.
  2. wow that looks really sharp. i like those radius rods. how well do you figure those whitewall decals will work?
  3. were there rumors of the big tub being cancelled? because when i refered to something like that it was pure conjecture and not even that. i hadnt heard any rumors.
  4. according to the automakers its the govt or nothing, right? a buyout or a bankruptcy? and obama has already said he didnt want to run a car company. he might end up hiring some stooge to do it though. but the point is, GM is bankrupt unless the govt steps in, so its a rock and a hard place for all parties. and the real point is, where do they go from here? Ladas and such arent gonna sell here.
  5. all those are super sweet. im partial to that chop and channel nailhead with the log manifold!
  6. that looks wicked and those rolled pans make it.
  7. along with the flowers you should send her boss a letter commending her customer service! and tell him that that attitude does more than all the advertising in winning people over to their products. seriously!
  8. i am sorry you lost that model, it looks really showstopping! i am also sorry i havent read every response in this thread but i just thought i would mention you should list this on craigslist with the reward youre offering. never know but you might even get a bite and be able to buy your piece back. best of luck sir and again sorry that happened.
  9. edit: is this a remake of the original? i dont have sound on the computer im using right now but it doesnt look right. seems like maybe this is a remake from 2004? if it is and youve not seen the original, i encourage you to seek out the dvd (doesnt seem to be on youtube) as this film will really blow your mind. i sort of assume most have seen this though; i first did back in the 80s if i remember right. it was an underground classic. end edit then theres always this chestnut: paris in the morning The film shows an eight-minute drive through Paris in the early hours of the morning (05:30hrs), accompanied by sounds of a high-reving engine, gear changes and squealing tires. It starts in a tunnel of the Paris Périphérique at Porte Dauphine, with an onboard view from an unseen car exiting up on a ramp to Avenue Foch. Well-known landmarks such as the Arc de Triomphe, Opéra Garnier, and Place de la Concorde with its obelisk are passed, as well as the Champs-Élysées. Pedestrians are passed, pigeons sitting on the streets are scattered, red lights are ignored, one-way streets are driven up the wrong way, centre lines are crossed, the car runs on a pavement to avoid a refuse lorry. The car is never seen as the camera seems to be attached below the front bumper, judging from the relative positions of other cars, the visible headlight beam and the final shot when the car is parked in front of kerbstones on Montmartre, with the famous Cathedral Sacré Cœur behind, and out of shot. Here, the driver gets out and embraces a young blonde woman as bells ring in the background, with the famous backdrop of Paris. [edit] Production Shot in a single take, it is an example of cinéma-vérité. The length of the film was limited by the short capacity of the reel, and filmed from a gyro-stabilised camera mounted on the bumper of a Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9.[2] This model, which could reach a top speed of 235 km/h (146 mph), was only available with a 3-speed automatic transmission. Yet, one can hear gear changes up into 5th, as well as heel-and-toe down-shifting with a high-revving engine indicating speeds of well over 200 km/h. Calculations made by several independent groups showed that the car never exceeded 140 km/h (85 mph)[3], while another[4] estimated that the car had peaked at 220 km/h (136.7 mph). Lelouch himself claimed that the top speed achieved was over 200 km/h, somewhere between 230 km/h and 240 km/h.[5]It is suggested that the sound was dubbed with the noise of Lelouch's 275GTB, which has a corresponding number of gears and a similar engine note. A making-of-the-rendezvous documentary indicates that Lelouch himself was the driver, that the car driven was the Mercedes, although the sound track is from a Ferrari. One observer was posted close to the Louvre palace at a blind junction (archway) to assist the driver.[6] Due to the increasing demand and the limited distribution of original tapes,[citation needed] the film has recently been re-mastered from the 35 mm negative and released on DVD.[7] In 2007 part of the movie was used for Snow Patrol's Open Your Eyes music video. [edit] Route The route was as follows: Bd Périphérique (exits at Porte Dauphine) · Av Foch · Pl Charles-de-Gaulle · Av des Champs-Elysées · Pl de la Concorde · Quai des Tuileries · Pl du Carrousel · R de Rohan · Av de l'Opera · Pl de l'Opéra · Fromental Halévy · R de la Chausée d'Antin · Pl d'Estienne d'Orves · R Blanche · R Pigalle · Pl Pigalle · Bd de Clichy · (aborted turn at R Lepic) · R Caulaincourt · Av Junot · Pl Marcel Aymé · R Norvins · Pl du Tertre · R Ste-Eleuthère · R Azais · Pl du Parvis du Sacré Cœur. [8] [edit] Criticism Comments attributed to Lelouch indicate that he acknowledges the moral outrage over his method of shooting this film as valid. He also states that he was prepared to take the risks in making the film, but that he however was also ready to drop it if he came across any unexpected risk (pedestrian, hurdle, etc.). 10. anyone else notice on ebay that all of a sudden there are like a bazillion Monogram Big Tubs listed? ive been watching for those and similar 1/8 scale rods for a few years now and up until about a month ago, there would be maybe one or two every six months or so and that was about it. they were pretty rare. as of yesterday when i looked again, there were 5 or 6 in various conditions from parts cars to still in the box examples, all presumably listed in the past week. its funny what a reissue will do. whats even funnier is when the reissue that is planned is cancelled! personally though. i always still appreciate and value the original and a reissue doesnt really take away from that. it *does* make them affordable again though and that means more builders and ideas out there. i think the next one i do will be a beat down rat rod which is what the last one i did started out to be!
  11. yes sounds like what you want to do is convert the car from a series 2 to a series 1, the most obvious visible difference being the cycle fenders for the 1 instead of the extended fenders on the series 2 that tamiya has kitted. i dont know of any conversion kits but you shouldnt have much problem finding or making some substitutes. i dont know of any specific upgrade kits out for it either though but i believe its Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland makes cast resin copies of a twin cam motor that looks great in the seven.
  12. that is gonna look NICE with the interior and trim in place! curbside or are you going to do a motor? i assume the diecast had a motor? lookin sharp! hoovering up the weeds just like i like em!
  13. that paint scheme looks kool, lower it to the ground and you got a winner.
  14. better late than never, i did some research and found: shows me a couple of areas of improvement like removing the EFI harness and trimming it down to sit lower. and i should make some sort of airboxes which the kit seems to have ignored completely. like i said, better late than never! thanks again for looking, more pics to come.
  15. thanks for the encouragement folks, thats exactly what i did, just snipped it off and did the tip in silver from a silver sharpie. dont even notice it! now trying to make that top pulley look better! thats the problem with macro lenses!
  16. thanks for looking folks! heres a quick update set of photos of the motor completed, save for positioning the exhaust pipes. i think i will have more luck doing it in situ than as the instrux indicate beforehand. that slot in the bottom plate engages into a tab on the top of the front suspension crossbeam. couple immediate problems: one being the seam in the radiator pipe that i neglected to see until i took the photo a few minutes ago once again, and also that stupid piece coming out of the front plate of the engine was supposed to hold a pulley with the stock belt arrangement. well guess what, with all the telling you to fill this and drill that, the instrux neglected to mention removing it so now its there. when i was assembling it i figured something fit on there. wrong again. its gonna be a bear to get a razor saw in there now. maybe a dremel with the circular buzz saw blade will get it. or of course there always the sprue cutters and dealing with the cleanup afterwards. or i could paint it flat black and pretend it is not there. dunno.
  17. and if you use more flexible wire you can get a little wiggle room when it comes to mounting position and angle but still seat right down on the door or fender surface. great tip and photos!
  18. wow thats a pretty clean set up! thanks for posting these, they ought to go into an archive.

  20. hey! i like the way you think! thats what they are!
  21. ok heres some photos of the motor, just got the wiring done and the injection harness on, still has a few more parts to be added, in the next photo: engine, i built the distributor with aluminum tubing and epoxy, everything else is out of box: some bits ready to put on the block: wheels and tyres, yeah i think the decals are on upside down heres a shot of the rear suspension: and heres the notorious ejector pin marks coming back to haunt me! thats about it for now, im also getting the body prepped for the two tone body (a big deal for me I am afraid) and the interior is ready to get put together and detailed, more pics to come! thanks for looking!
  22. you know i may very well have bought this kit at NNL a number of years ago; i cant remember exactly where i got it but its the only one i had seen. in that case, thanks, raul! im going to try to finish up the motor and take some pics tonite. i do have to say you have to pay *real* close attention to the instrux, especially the sort of hidden directions to fill or open up holes in the body. and on the chassis even though i tried my best, one hole got left open, it was probably to hold the stock exhaust system. went back and looked at instrux again, its not noted at all. you have to remove 5 or 6 objects that are molded into the body and some other modifications like two big holes in the trunk lid, to fit what appear to be fuel cell filler caps. anyway pics soon!
  23. so what youre saying is youre getting old and crotchety and set in your ways. welcome to the club. its all downhill from here.
  24. minidreams: so the ink doesnt dry until you clear coat it? will it standup to tamiya clear out of the spray can? any special tips for sealing the gel? i assume that what you do is your basic paint job, then dullcoat it so the pens will work well, then do the gel pen business, and finally seal the whole thing with gloss clear to also get back your gloss finish. correct? that stuff youre doing is awesome.
  25. >Agreed, but didn't the most recent Big T reissue have pretty much all of the Big Drag parts except for the blower? i dont think so, there was a lot more to the big drag than the blower i think. most or all of the stuff was available in those parts packs such as the center seat roll bar, the moon tank, steering wheel and a number of other parts...headers had to have been special(?) plus i think the floorboard is different but maybe not. if all that stuff came out in a recent big t, then i missed it and gotta find one!
