hey thats some great work there, i have a question. you know that car lift there, i think fujimi makes it, did you built it tight enough so it will actually support a model car? i built one a long time ago and though i tried to keep the tolerances tight enough, the car support parts just kinda flop around. i was thinking about tearing it down and redoing it so it was sturdier and was wondering if you had any tips you could share. i tried shimming the arms but didnt have much luck when it was assembled. thanks in advance and thats some impressive detailing you are doing there...that loft area is looking great. and brilliant use of that banana too!

Anyone know of a 67 Mustang Hardtop Body?
jbwelda replied to jbwelda's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
1/25 or 1/24 would be ideal but i was willing to fall back on 1/18 diecast. but as it is, the resin transkit is going to fit the bill perfectly thanks again all! -
thats the kind of vehicle you cant park on the street anymore or some little old lady (evidently not from pasadena) will report it and it will get towed away. at least in a lot of communities these days.

count me as one against those do dads on the hood, thats exactly what i thought when i saw them: those stick on things that look like buick portholes or something. other than that i like the car itself and the parts look great so this is one i am looking forward to. -
a friend of mine today asked me if i could build a model for him of his 67 mustang hardtop. as most of you probably know, 67 was the year they went to a more bulged out, muscular look and is actually sort of the prototype of the current mustang offering. so i did some research and i found that amt made a 66 hardtop and made a 67 fastback, but no 67 hardtop. i just happened to be at a model show today and i asked a couple of my knowledgeable buddys there and they confirmed: no 67 hardtop. BUT they said, at one point one of the magazines did a how-to article on creating a 67 hardtop by combining the top and trunk lid from the 66 with the rest of the 67 body and supposedly it wasnt herculean in its proportions. so that sounded like a good idea. but the problem is i probably dont want to make this mustang my career, and would prefer an easy way out, hence the question: anyone know of a 67 mustang hardtop body presumably for the amt 67 mustang fastback donor kit? many thanks in advance and sorry for the long buildup!

I have had this excellent Broadspeed Mini Cooper resin body around for some time, as anyone who has tried to get hold of these kinda legendary creations would have to know...i only knew about the company for about a year before production ceased. anyway i have had this body sitting on top of a tamiya racing version mini cooper base kit for awhile now, and recently i had the opportunity to massage the body, primer it, fit it to the tamiya mini chassis, partially finish some wobbly web style wheels the Broadspeed variation often wore and tonite i stuck the wheels underneath and did some posing and photographing. i probably wont get back to this seriously for a couple months yet but just wanted to see how much interest this variant brings. here is the base kit i am using, it has some race car parts like rollbar, racing front seat, some augmented instrumentation, stuff like that: now the body take a bit of getting used to, just like its 1:1 prototype. it remains relatively untouched forward of the back of the door, but from there back it looks like someone swapped in a Marlin fastback in slightly less spendor sizewise, tapering back to a very seventies looking Kamm back with Ferrariesque overtones. Kind of like a fine wine but i digress. actually though, it does take some getting used to and i am not positive i am quite there yet. heres a shot of the virtually unchanged from stock front end, with emphasis on the wobbly web style wheel...they are metallic black over gloss black and i still need to "chrome" the outer ring around each wheel. should stand out a lot more then: heres where things start going all sideways...roof looks very grafted on but has a certain grace to it. the wheel tucks into the wheelwell nicely, i am going to have to do some major doing to get the car to sit down on its suspension like this though. i have build two tamiya minis and both ended up almost looking like 4X4s, which was ok for the one because it was a rally car and it was ok for the other because it ended up in the air in a garage diorama where its suspension should be relaxed anyway. but again with the digressing... and here you can get a look at the rear end with the very pronounced Kamm back effect. the design especially in the back looks very european to me, and this was a pretty significant variant on the typical mini cooper design: so i plan on painting this tamiya mica red with a red clear coat afterward for no other reason than i really like that color and it will contrast nicely with the black shiny wheels. this body and the Traveller body i still have from ScaleKraft are both excellent. the kits they were included in, for roughly 60$ if i remember right, had interior panels, vac formed glass, wheels (these wobbly webs for instance), some very nice looking weber carbs to put on the standard tamiya motor, and short of having to trim flash out of all the windows (not a major undertaking, kind of a relaxing evening kind of thing) there wasnt really any cleanup necessary on the body. as you can see i have primed it and while i havent looked at it super close, in my fitting session i dont recall seeing any pinholes or blemishes or anything. the kit included a new hood to fit the body and i couldnt understand why because the tamiya hood fit pretty perfectly. then i noticed the hood is relieved underneath whereas the tamiya one is very shallow. i am assuming that is to allow clearance for the weber carburetors. we shall see. thanks for looking and of course any questions cheerfully addressed!

you learned something, hopefully anyway: do not count on walmart for anything except a bunch of low life customers, not that they arent amusing in and of themselves. and unless you want to be mistaken for one of them, never go there to begin with.

so follow that link above to exoto, and now you find a formerly 398$ (kind of optimistically priced if you ask me) 1962 260 AC Cobra competition car for only 98.95! thats 1/18 scale. seems like a pretty good deal to me. but the cobra daytona coupe above is the bare metal finish car, a limited edition of i dont know how many. i bought one too. i am not positive but i dont think you can find these for 98$. if you can please point me to it because these are very nice!

so does that english car get its MOT yearly or whenever its due? as i understand it if a car will pass that it is in pretty excellent shape because they dont fool around at the licensing agency like they do in the states where you can get around just about anything if youre clever enough. -
some neat stuff there...that mercury wagon in particular. but do i read it right that everything is stock inside and out except there is NOT a stock motor included? there is some souped up OHV motor? sorry i am not familar with what is in the custom merc but i guess you mean that motor? a flathead with speed equip, i presume? the wagon really does look kool, i am going to want one out of the chute, its just kinda strange about the motor. that chp trim on the mustang is pretty great too. does this mean the stacey rat roaster is put off till 2013? or was it always scheduled for 2013?

i am sure if stopped by any diligent police officer, that officer could find one or more infractions of the vehicle code. just because it got licensed for use on the street doesnt mean its necessarily legal for street use. i would assume there is some part of actual 63 vette they got numbers for so it wasnt a purely manufactured car, and just gets registered as a 63 corvette. its up to the forces of right on the street to make sure it runs legal...and this one clearly isnt in california for more than one obvious reason, but it doesnt look to be registered in california. i just know if you drive this thing across nevada and/or utah on interstate 80, the main road, i would be willing to bet you would collect some tickets just trying to cruise along at a decent clip. and if you hardly even stepped on it at all in the presence of LE you would be opening your wallet pretty good at the next town.
