Excellent. Super clean, and an excellent paint job. I really like it! Michael

OK. I looked at Mosher's Mopars, and like in the pic above, they (Mosher's) run the positive cable along the trunk floor, through the interior on the driver's side (somewhere?) and pops out through the firewall below the master brake cylinder, where it's then attached to the firewall, right there about 6 inches above of where it comes out. You sir, and Mosher's is good enough for me! Many thanks for allowing me to sideswipe your thread a bit. Michael

Hello Fastback340, I'm enjoying and learning all I need to know about plumbing underneath my 64 Dodge S/S that's on the bench right now. Thank you! One little question maybe; How/where were the battery cables run when the battery was in the trunk? Along the frame rails, or inside the car? Michael

What Alclad or other combination can be best used for carbs? Michael
-
Eric, fantastic! Check out the exhaust pipes! Those are very convincing pics, thanks Eric. By the way, what kind/size of spark plug cables did you use? They look perfectly scaled. I think too, mixing and different colors on a single motor looks excellent. This is what I'm striving for, thanks for showing. Michael

I know about Duplicolor stuff. Over here in Germany a good Duplicolor series is called Rallye Lack. The grey primer is good, fills nicely too. I'm looking for a shiny, but a little brushed looking finish for valve covers. Not chrome. Also coloring for the carbs, maybe a little bronze colored wash? Michael

That looks very nice, Bill! What's been done to the blower? I like the different metal finishes, looks good. Michael

Hi guys, I'm starting my new project and I'd like to know which/what Alclad paint you use on motors. The 64 Dodge I'm building has a Hemi, and the valve covers are white plastic. Since the valve covers will have to be painted, I might as well make the heads look like aluminum and not cast iron, painted orange. I don't want them black, so I ordered Alclad burnt metal and polished aluminum. What do you guys do with your motors? Michael

new to airbrushing, where to buy paints?

Mark, are you serious? Uh ohh! How much do you, or what percent do you thin with for airbrushing? Oh my, this sounds good. Michael -
Hi Pavel, I've found out I can get Gunze paints online, as well as other Euro paints. I'm still looking. Thanks for the tips. Michael

Gotcha! Thanks guys for your patience. What brand of lacquer could be recommended? Please note, I'm in Germany. My town has a population of 1/4 million, and is the state capitol. 4 Hobby Shops, only one has plastic model cars, only Revell Euro models! No Alclad, but BMF. I was even told recently, hold on now...."no one builds model cars anymore". I've found internet Shops that have lots of paint selection, but mostly enamel (Humbrol) which I have. Probably 3 days to dry, but I'm familiar with the stuff. So, tell me about lacquer, and brand names. Michael

Hmmm. Sorry to have to bug you again. Like this?; 1. First color. 2. Mask it. 3. 1st Clear coat. 4. Second color. I'm still lost. Do you mean you clear coat the already painted area that will receive the second coat of color? The color scheme is basically white sides, and dark blue roof. So, the complete car is sprayed white, then masked for the blue. Then clear coat....the roof? Or, how can I clear coat the sides, when they're masked? Do you mean the roof is clear coated before applying the blue? This may not even be of importance, I just don't understand the method. Should your 1st sentence read like this; "I shoot clear after the first color is applied, (then the) and body is masked for the second color." ?? Michael

Thanks guys! @Foxer....compatible. Do you mean like enamel / enamel? @cobraman....after 1st coat, you mask. Then 1st clear coat. Where do you put the 1st clear coat, on the masked part? Could you clarify? @Art, the clean paper makes good sense to me. I haven't had quite the success with Acrylics / Air Brush as I do with enamel, so for the first model I'm going with enamel. I can imagine that I'll have to wait several days before I can mask the white, 1st color. I'll have lots of wiring to do in the meantime. Michael

Hi guys, Decades have past since I built my last model car. Lindbergs "Color Me Gone" is ready to get started. What's the best way to handle 2 tone paint jobs? I have a new Air Brush and have been practicing. I thought about shooting the whole body with white, then just brush on the dark blue, like in the old days. Can I AirBrush the dark blue? I could use fine tape and block of the side of the body, and spray the dark blue, but I'm a bit apprehensive of overspraying. I have experience painting the plastic hulls of ships using some fine tape to keep the lines neat and clean. How is it best done nowadays? What would you recommend me to do? Michael

Something tells me Daddyfink knows a thing or two about rail jobs. Looking cool Daddyfink.. Michael -
afx, I think the motor will work fine in a boat. The oil pan is probably not even visible, am I right? A Hemi and Hilborn injection will draw enough attention away from what type of oil pan is applied. Go for it. Michael

Hi Dale, Yes, 37 years is a long time to have the small cars in front of your eyes again. We're sitting in the same boat, and I really feel that you are doing remarkable work. My compliments! Good luck with further building. (My, how the times have changed). Greetings Michael

afx, it's an af/x motor. Mopar 426 with manifold for Hilborn injection. Makes for an early af/x, early funny car motor. If you run across another one, can I have it? Michael

I picked up another cold light bulb for my DIY Light Box. Finally I'm getting the light, right. Still trying to make them better though. Michael

Another Hemi Car: Come On..REALLY?
10thumbs replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I hear that. My brother would get so irritated when a Chevy blew up. He'd say the dude went to Walgreens on Sunday to buy a cam but he put it in backwards. lol. Mopars had to be built and machined, that's why they were quicker and lasted longer. Michael -
Another Hemi Car: Come On..REALLY?
10thumbs replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Another Hemi? ....and this posted from a Chevy Guy. If not a Hemi Hot Rod, then it'll have a SBC or BBC in it for sure. But hey, if I was going to buy an old vintage muscle car, and it just happened to have a Hemi in it, well OK. I'd take it (if I had the cash). Hemi's are cool, and look good under the hood. Sure, small blocks can be built to whoop on Hemi's, but Hemi's can go faster. I don't mind them, but then again I wouldn't especially like to have a SBC in my model....it's too small. Michael -

Along with the jewelry supply house I'd highly recommend a medical/dental supply. All kinds of cool clamps too, as well as rotating instruments, burs and things. Cheaper than hobby shops! Michael -
Thanks for the insight, Walt. Now I've a better picture of the work you had. I love them awful altereds. Michael

Hi Casey, now that's an interesting prospect. Since I recently received a bunch of nice Resin wheels from Comp Resins, a trade sounds real good. Maybe I'll get lucky. I've had a look at the ones I have and I'd need to thicken them up a bit then clone them. Lots of work but it can be rewarding. I recently duplicated a Wax Wedge Motor I had laying around (unknown kit) and it came out acceptable. Thanks for the reply. Michael
