Andy got back to me and I'm going to shoot some pictures for him... Why not share it on the board....There's two reasons...1 is the almost complete lack of support of NASCAR on this board, which this project is (Especially 1/64, which this project also is!), and the second is that the project may be more then I can handle and I don't want to get anyone's hopes up prematurely or incorrectly. When I do have something definitive to say...I'll post it. Depending on how something goes that I'm working on....that may be as early as the end of this week

I'm working on a project that I need some clear parts for...it appears the best possible choice is vac-forming. I have what I need to have vac-formed, BUT...I have no clue how to go about doing it OR having someone else do it for me. I'm going to need multiple copies (into the dozens) and diffrent designs. Any help? Even ideas? Thanks!!

What Would You Like For Christmas?
Billy Kingsley replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
59 Edsel! Not seen since 1959. 1962 Pontiac Catalina. I only got one of them when it was issued a few years ago, in fact, I only got it last year. I have a need for several more. Polar Lights NASCAR kits...do they count for AMT? -
That's pretty darn cool, Raul! Great concept and great execution.

Resin Paint Question? Can Someone Help
Billy Kingsley replied to 82notch's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
You can tell when resin is ready for prime/paint steps by when Masking tape will stick to it. If it sticks, you are ready to roll. If it does not stick, paint will not either, and it needs to be cleaned more. -
Replicas, Miniatures New Stuff!!!!!!!
Billy Kingsley replied to cruz's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Thanks for posting. That looks very nice. I'll probably have to get one of them. I have very few early trucks in my collection, and who doesn't have a 32 Ford donor? Even I do, and I've only ever built one of them, for a club project! -
Hello Again....
Billy Kingsley replied to Jeff Sauber's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Jeff, when I saw this all going down I thought to myself, 'that doesn't seem like Jeff' and I'm glad to see that it's not. I sure hope you changed ALL your passwords!! -
And I can't believe it is! As I have related elsewhere, I have fought with these kits many times over....I pulled this one out and worked at it several times with little positive results...Until yesterday. For some odd, unknown reason, it just fell toghter. All the parts fit on the first try, and nothing broke. I didn't put anything on backwards or the wrong location or anything! This is: My first Polar Lights kit, my first NASCAR Mercury, my first fully secured (read: glued) wheel assemblys, and my first time attemtping to lower the front end (I think I actually lowered it too much). What I did there was take the spindle, and glue it on sideways, with pieces cut from the sprue to keep them stable. It helps that I built it curbside. The decals came from Dave Van, however, he neglected to include contingencys, and it's missing some. I can't make out what they are on the one blurry photo I have, so I of cource can't apply what I can't ID. The contingencys that are there came from DSAO, Slixx, AMT and an unknown 1983 Bill Elliott sheet. The color is likely too dark, as well. But I really couldn't care less, because it looks great to me. Thanks for looking and enjoy the photos! BTW: I didn't tell anyone I was working on this car...very unusual for me, as I normally mention it somewhere.

Hi guys, I took these pictures last night even though I got the order on Friday. I left these parts with him in Toledo and they arrived back to me already. This is a before shot...there are some more though that I got in Toledo which I also had plated! I broke this one when cleaning it up...can barely see where now!

Question For Mcm...
Billy Kingsley replied to jamie's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Jamie, if I have even one done by then it'll be a miracle! LOL!! You know, Penthouse did try to sponsor Kenny Wallace at one point....NASCAR wouldn't allow it on track. -
Question For Mcm...
Billy Kingsley replied to jamie's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
All the Tobocco ones were produced before 2000. Beleive me, 1/64 NASCAR diecast is my #1 hobby! The only one I'd have to check on is the QVC exlcusive 30 Years set which included the Kodiak car Rusty won the 1989 Championship with, but that set may have been issued in 2000, hard to remember after this time. It's illegal for them to make the Hard Licqor cars in 1/64. Like I said, no Jack Daniel's, Jim Beam or Crown Royal allowed. The Bud and Miller Lite are made, and the Coors is supposed to be made, but they are sealed on a base. Those are considered soft licquor. By the way....This info came from a Motorsports Authentics employee. -
Question For Mcm...
Billy Kingsley replied to jamie's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
When Winston left Winston Cup at the end of 2003....it wasn't because of NASCAR not caring about it's past (I never figured that sentiment out, that ran so rampant through most of NASCAR fandom) it was because the Government forced them to. They had until IIRC 2006 to get out the sport completly, and any time after 2000 RJ Reynolds was getting fined by the US Government every year, simply for sponsoring NASCAR! I believe the same set up was in place for NHRA, but I don't know for sure as I don't "do" drag racing as a general rule. It is also illegal for any of the diecast companys to make tobacco sponsored cars in any scale, and I believe the same was true with decals for models. You notice Slixx never did any Harry Gant or Ken Schrader decals! The Government still won't let them make the so-called Hard Licqor cars. It's actually illegal to make a Clint Bowyer. Jamie McMurray or Robby Gordon car accurately in 1/64! I have to say, I've been watching alcohol and tobacco cars, and rooting for them since I was 8 years old back in 1992. I never once tried tobocco or alcohol, and I likely never will. I enjoy having full brain capacaty, and I, like all people SHOULD be, am smart enough to make my own decisions. Back in 1996 or so, I was at a card show in the local mall. Some dealer had a 1995 Kenny Schrader RCCA car for sale. He would not sell it to me even though my mom was there with me. He refused to take the money from my hand, I had to give it to my mom and SHE had to be the one to give him the money before I would get the car. Which she instantly handed to me. I nearly expected his head to pop off ala cartoons. Sad, sad, state of affairs when people are not even trusted to think for themselves! By the way, Jamie, you are going to love a project I'm beginning to work on. Every Skoal #1 or 0 there was...I've already got one of the Oldsmobiles and the 1993 Ford in progress, and the other 3 Olds will not be far off either! This will encompass 4 Rick Mast, 1 Terry Labonte and 1 Irv Hoerr builds... -
Model Cars Opinion Poll
Billy Kingsley replied to Jairus's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There are only two things that can improve the magazine from where it's at now: #1 Go to all color. Black and white photos just don't cut it, especially in this day and age. The only thing I can think of to argue against color photos is the cost....I know that color cost more then black and white, so if that's the reason, then that's fine...Because I would rather have years of black and white versus a bankrupt color magazine. #2, NASCAR! NASCAR modeling is about the only segment of car modeling that MCM continually ignores. It's almost all that I do, and there are plenty of builders out there who are far more talented then I am, some of them even post on this very board. Bill Coulter's Speed Visions is an improvement, however, it is not anything dedicated to NASCAR in the magazine...and I don't even ask for that. I would be happy if you photographed at least one at a model show, and actually ran it in the magazine. 1 random photo of a NASCAR build every year doesn't count... All I ask is equal time for my build choice. The snide remarks about NASCAR models by Darryl Gassaway aren't really too endearing either. -

Anyone Knows Tkm Models
Billy Kingsley replied to tooltime-fan's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I was thinking to myself that I wanted to try a TKM kit, just to see what all the fuss was about, and see if it's as bad as EVERYONE says....After all, I've built more R&R Vacuum Craft kits then any other caster's work....but after hearing that, I think I'll pass. I wonder, is it an attempt to save money on expensive resin? Still, there is little to no exuse for that. -
Sagging Springs
Billy Kingsley replied to 62rebel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I built an AMT 49 Ford some time back (02ish I think) and originally had it sitting highly raked. When I took it to Toledo for the NNL it got damaged in the 11 hour ride...the rear suspension was one of several things that happened to it....I liked the look with the car dragging the tail and left it that way when I fixed it!! -
A female Johan kit? Naa! According to Dictionary.Com it's "Optical Hawaiian Array for Nanoradian Astronomy".... ...Cool! Seriously though, glad to see a little personalization on the board...Member by everybody's name gets boring!

If you'd like you can email me at elcaminobilly@yahoo.com so I can get the address to send it to... Thanks, Billy
