Great Job Luke!!!! That's what I was referring to with Black without a top coat of clear. The depth in Luke's paint job is amazing!!!! You can't get type of color hold out with clear over black. Kudos Luke!

I totally agree with Aces assessment of black paint prep etc! In fact black is probably one of the easiest colors physically to paint as the atomized paint leaving the gun, can, airbrush is easy to see due to the dark color and light refraction, whereas white is one of the most difficult colors to apply due to the same principals of light refraction. Being old school I personally like a deep straight black paint application with no clear top coat, It is my personal opinion, taste and experience that straight black has more depth than black with a clear top coat. I know it may sound counter intuitive but for my eye clear over straight black mutes the true pigment of black. For a real killer black add some violet tint to the mix (a little go's a long way) Experiment with it and spray some test panels! It's all about having fun with it and learning!

Joe, Great tip! with the press and seal. Seems as though we all have some type of griping devise to remove tops. I typically wipe the top of the bottle with a rag that has some thinner on it. For the cover and for airbrush bottles and airbrush cleaning I have two small parts cleaners that have a pumps that hold about a gallon and a half of thinner ( I think I purchased them at harbor freight for like $35 each) I have one filled with mineral spirit and the other one with lacquer thinner. I use these both for cleaning equipment and they work great! When you close the covers the are safe from fire and exploding. Cheers jwrass

Glenn, Great job! Just my opinion but I have never heard a song that I didn't like by Humble Pie! Good old rock'in blues. I had forgot about Blue Cheer and Bubble Puppy, More or less one hit wonders on the charts but great tunes on LPs I just listened to the preview versions on ITunes Good Stuff! Does anyone know if the Nuge was in Blue Cheer for a period of time, I know he was In the Amboy Dukes but I think he was in other band as well! To lazy to google to see his profile

Cato, They took the lead out of the paint during the late 70s or early 80s it's been awhile, ever since then the coverage has not been what it used to be, more so with lettering than with striping. With any large lettering I typically cut a mask on the vinyl plotter and mop it in or spray it. Striping it's not much of a problem however, I do find myself mixing white, purple or black into my colors to make them cover better. I have not tried or heard anything about the eco friendly line that has been recently introduced. Why did you get out of striping? I find it more enjoyable as the years go by! Get the brushes out and get them wet! Cheers jwrass
