Hey Guys, Thanks for the comments on this topic! My original intent was to give information as One Shot as a alternate paint and I got many posts and PMs by people who have used it for signs and striping. For those of you who have swung a brush in the past and who are still doing it... Much respect!!!!! To all who are interested, any World of Wheels car show will have a Pinstriping Bull Pen ( The concept started in Milwaukee, WI. In the early 2000s) The Artisans typically work on a killer panel at home (many hours) and then do panels in the bull pen ( were you are welcome and ask a brother or sister of the brush for tips and they will help) that take maybe 1/2 to a hour to complete, all panels are auctioned off for charity (Children's Hospital in our case) Panels are typically $25 to $200 for panels done on site and upwards of $3000 to 4000 for the for those really killer panels. Ray, I love the story about the frig, My mother had the most awesome Washer, Dryer, Wash Tubs etc for miles around. Scott, As many have said practice is the key!!!!! Welcome to the club!! If you ever need any help p.m. me, always willing to help. Gordon, Yeah I don't know how Dutch's name got tagged as clothing line, I do know there is litigation on the subject. I do some vinyl work (YUCK) but it pays the bills. With the advent of the nostalgia race car movement their is allot of old school paint going on ( STICKERS!!! WE DON"T NEED NO STINKING STICKERS) To all: Their is a three part youtube video of Kenny Youngblood (the master) doing a faux grill, headlights and rear taillights on a 70 Mach 1 nostalgia Funny Car, Check it out!!! It is so cool. Keep It Wet!!!! Jimmy "RASS"

Certifiably SANE!!!! Who hasn't had a dream where they could fly or wanted to fly. With the proper training I would do that in a heartbeat. Their's a little saying a co-worker of mine used to say " If your born to drown you'll never hang" Sure the guy has stones!!!! I can tell you this for a fact, there was allot of engineering that went into that stunt, That was not a wet finger job -
A techniques I use is I take balsa, popsicle sticks, dowel, you name it. I spray the sanding device with some 3-M Super 77 Spray adhesive and stick the paper onto this profile. It works on wet or dry papers. If your paper is getting dull in the area (on the sanding stick) that you have shaped the sanding stick to in a particular shape or profile, cut or sand the stick back into a area where you have sharp paper and you are good to go!

I don't get it !!!!! I love this site...... But somehow someone will drag a thread down the sewer hole. Many of the threads on this site I don't even visit anymore for just that reason. I personally like to see the answers to all the posts and if someone wants to say a post is still up or not up!!!! Is it really that offensive, does that really irritate one that much that we have to have another cesspool. I'm not going to look.....But I would bet over the last 6 month I have posted the same song more than once (please call me out if I offended you) The thing that really gets me is I know many will do the google thing and I think that's fine if your really curious about a post, just don't answer it with that information!!!! Where I come from they call that cheating. Peace Jimmy "RASS" Can we all just have fun with something without the back biting......Please

Good Morning Music Peoples!!!! I hope you all had a great week!!!! I have a themed Saturday Five. All of these songs contain some brass!!!! Some only a singular instrument others multiple. I want to mention that I listen to many of the songs that have been posted to take me back and I have been turned on to some other music and artists that I have not heard of or took the time to expand my horizons. I really enjoy the process of playing the game! I encourage all to take a listen to the songs that many fine people take the time to share. A personal Thank You who all participate and share! Jimmy "RASS" Saturday Five 1) Just like a ghost you've been a-haunting' my dreams So I'll propose on Halloween 2) I felt like a picked priest Who was being flambed 3) Om mmm I know a place Ain't nobody cryin' Ain't nobody worried Ain't no smiling faces 4) I catch the paper boy But things don't really change 5) And the wind, it catches your feet Sets you flying, crying

Both of these songs deal with tragedy! Name the tragedy along with the name of the song and artists. #1) When they broke through to pull us free The only ones left to tell the tale Were Joe and me #2) Horror grips us as we watch you die All we can do is echo your anguished cries Stare as all human feelings die

Gabriel, I'm going to go wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy out on a limb here. I had to get a ride to work for a week with my father as somehow I put a rod through my 66 dodge dart 225 slant six ( it ain't easy to kill one of those motors and it keep running) It was mid 70s and he was into country big time. Is it perhaps Luckiest Girl In The Whole USA, Tammy Winett This is just a guess????? I haven't been able to get that tune out of my grey matter for a day! Going crazy here

Question on wet sanding primer.
jwrass replied to lghtngyello03's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
It is my experience that Isopropyl alcohol can be mixed in any proportions with water or used straight out of the bottle. I use it uncut and a final wash before I pinstripe an area or if I make a boo boo...... to wipe off a design or to clean up a fuzzy edge or to square a edge of a design A good starting ratio is 70% iso to 30% water (that's how I mix it). I primarily use it as a static charge killer before paint more so than a cleaner although it is a excellent cleaner. It is my opinion that if a 70/30 mix attacks your primer in any way I would use a different type of primer. As far as solvents go (in this case isopropyl alcohol) it is not a aggressive or hot solvent. If the iso/water mix is attacking your primer I would consider that a very low grade primer and would not top coat that brand with a top coat that has a hot solvent as it's reducer. Talk about opening up a can of worms..... sand scratch's, swelling, wrinkling, yada yada. Testing before you commit is always best practice!!!!! -
In 1978 I was looking at the vinyl at Woolworths. In the bargain section I found Meet The Beatles on the Vee Jay Label!!! ( very rare) I think I paid a dollar for it. I have always played all of my vinyl with high quality diamond needles so it is in perfect shape! My only regret now is that I actually opened it. But much like vintage model kits what's the fun in that!!!!

Question on wet sanding primer.
jwrass replied to lghtngyello03's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Many Good points made here. I prescribe to the more tooth the better from raw styrene and body work. Add a little Ivory dishwashing soap (Natural scent!!!! The others (Ivory brand) contain perfumes, perfumes contain oil, oil equals fish eyes) to your water and let your sand paper sit in this solution to soften the paper. The soap acts as a lubricant, makes sanding much easier and keeps the paper from loading up. -
Doug, I own a air eraser that I use for etching glass as part of the glue chipping process. I have in fact used it to strip paint on hard to reach area's on chassis joints It also leaves a very nice even finish with gives a very nice tooth for primer. I agree with Rob they are costly. However my purchase was not intended for use with modeling. They are a nice tool to have in the arsenal. Hope this helps!!! J.W."Rass"

David, One product that works really well is Auto Art and Auto Arts Wicked brand of water based paints. I use their product a fair amount in my 1:1 Kustom painting business (see profile)Their transparent yellow #4231 works really great (all their transparent's work well for this) One thing that is nice about this product is if you don't like the results you can give a bath in soapy warm water with no adverse affects. Another plus is that being transparent you can layer the color until you get the tone or tint you want. A trick you can use as a pre paint prep for all plastics to keep the dust away is a mix of 70 to 80% distilled water to 20 to 10% isopropal alcohol. Mix it and place it in a small hand spray bottle give the object a spritz and wipe with a micro fiber towel in one direction until the surface is clean. This pre prep solution will kill the static charge that is created when you rub on plastic, you will be amazed at how much cleaner your paint work will be. I hope this helps! Jimmy "Rass" On the clear plastic spray the back side of the plastic like on RC bodies and old school slot cars
