I have been on the forum for two years and haven't posted a build to this date. Why? because I haven't built anything in almost 25 years. Been warming the bench too long.......... I started this build about Dec 1 2015. This is a kit I bought in like 1974 and got as far as gluing half the chassis together. Jungle Jim Liberman was one of the early pioneers of Funny Car Racing. Born Russell James Liberman on 9/12/1945, JJ perished in a head on crash with a bus on 9/9/1977 3 days before his 32nd birthday. Known for his showmanship Jungle and his side kick Jungle Pam Hardy put on quite a show. JJ often did half track burn outs ( which I had the pleasure to witness at Great Lakes Dragway) Pam in her halter tops and hot pants would guide JJ back into the rubber that he planted on the pavement. Their is plenty of footage of this Duo on youtube check it out, you won't be disappointed. Be gentle gents, it's been 25 years. Note Date on box. Mock up of chassis without body and with body, Notice how the stance is too high in the rear! and the injectors are not correct. We will fix that in the next installment. During my research their are many errors in the kit as it pertains to the 1:1 car, follow along as I correct the obvious Peace Jimmy "RASS

Frank, All inter-coat clears were designed for use as a barrier( all brands) between base coats, tape outs etc........ it could easily be used as a final clear on a model........ I use it on my art panels on a regular basis. It would not be used as a final clear on a 1:1 as it does not contain the UV protection that a multi component clear would. SG 100 is in fact a reducer. If it were me, I would just use the rattle can of clear, no need to airbrush. If your mind is set on airbrushing you could push the clear through the .75. You will however most likely have to reduce the clear further and experiment with air pressures. Good Luck Mate Jimmy "RASS"

Haven't been here in a Long Time........ Yikes!!!! this thread is on life support

One Shot Clear is a great clear! Be careful when you apply with a airbrush it's pretty slippery stuff. I would recommend the following when spraying One Shot: 1) Make the first coat a tack coat.....Meaning: Light to medium coat with even coverage. 2) Do the knuckle test.........Meaning: Off to the side of the subject or a area that can't be seen, drag or touch your knuckle to the surface, a slight drag or sticky apply next coat 3) Apply a full wet coat......... If you plan on additional coats, repeat step 2 I purchase all my small quantities of HOK from Coast Air Brush and TCB Global. Both great people to deal with! Jimmy "RASS"

Frank, My apologizes for addressing you as Tom! I'm glad I could be helpful. Sent is one example of some of the panel work I do. (All Freehand) I did this one last night. Cleared this am......... No Problems
-
Tom, I have many years under my belt using HOK products (See Profile) Although I would not do this on 1:1, I don't see any problems with using any brand of rattle can clear. I do this all the time with no failures on panel art that I do. I have been using Duplicolor Lacquer but wouldn't hesitate to use any brand really. Let the subject flash off for a few days before you clear. If in doubt do a test panel. I hope this helps! Jimmy "RASS"

Dr K, Way to hit one out of the Ball Park! What a great build and thinking outside the box. A match race with this car and the Flying Dutchman back in the day would have filled the stands ! Absolutely Fantastic.......... Jimmy "RASS" -

David, Their are quite a few tapes made by FBS. I use them all as different paint procedures require different tapes (I'm talking 1:1) for modeling I would get one roll of the crepe type tape and one roll of the vinyl/plastic tape In a small width. Experiment with the two and see what works for you. I purchase many of my supplies from Coast Air Brush they are a great source for the FBS they will also have a copy of the Air Brush Action magazine I mentioned. I hope this helps! Cheers Jimmy "RASS"

For those of you who have ever wanted combine paint with decals instead of all decals there is a great article in the July/Aug issue of Airbrush Action Magazine The subject matter is Don Schumachers 1967 Dodge Charger Stardust Funny Car. The process is fairly simple for those with Airbrush Experience or for those who want to just give it a go! If you are familiar with this car, the paint scheme is Paneling with Fades (which is making a come back in the custom 1:1 arena) the results are very impressive! To duplicate this build with decals alone and have a really nice show piece IMO is not in the cards (I have the decal set) The article also shows the use of FBS automotive tapes which I have been touting for sometime vs Hobby tapes (automotive tapes less $$$$, more product per $$$, better performance) Check it out!!! It will be well worth the $ 7.99 if you are serious about taking your paint skills to another level. Jimmy "RASS"

Suggest air pressure regulator for airbrush?
jwrass replied to dawgvet's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Jed, I totally agree with a regulator/oil and water trap. I only way to know the true pressure at your Airbrush is to have a regulator at or near the brush itself as the pressure will change from the compressor to the airbrush through fiction loss of the air traveling through the hose. Most airbrush outlets carry these gauges with all the bells and whistles yada yada. I use a simple regulator that most people have on air tools, I really don't need to know the pressure as I adjust that by how the paint is flowing through the brush and by sound. I hope this helps! Post # 6063 #4, Hint # 6071 The Band was the Cuff Links. A few got the title right Post # 0675 #1 I didn't think anyone would get this unless your taste in music went a bit underground, He was the lead singer in Roxy Music which was not mainstream but a great band. The answer is Right Stuff by Brian Ferry I would recommend anything Brian Ferry. IMO great artist!!! Most likely won't have a W.B.W way to much going on. Jimmy "RASS"

I'll wait until next year when you can buy a whole lot for a $ 1.99. I think they would have better luck with 60's and 70's cars. Would love to see new and reissues for the open wheel cars. With open wheel cars gaining momentum again (almost dead for 20 years, thank you Tony George) I think that may pay more dividends. Don't get me wrong, I love all types racing but just can't seem to get through a NASCAR race without dosing off the last couple of years. Must be old age.

Great Job Gents!!! #)1 The Snake #s) 2,3,4 & 5 Capt Reverb Crazy Ed! I can relate to having Idiot songs tormenting me. My semi cure is to think of anything Helen Reddy, but then I get migraines and nightmares  Tracy reminds me of Sting-Ray Bicycles, Skate boards with Steel Wheels (sidewalk surfing) and not much skin on my elbows and knees all summer long. I wear those scars like a badge of honor (not like kids of today dressed up like they are going to a SWAT raid) I do think that helmets are a good thing. Knowing me If they had them when I was a kid I would have ditched mine as soon as I was out of my parents site. Hint for Tracy, Many of us have a stash of these somewhere. The last time I wore these was at my Daughters wedding. Think shirt sleeve! Now that's answered. Working on Wake me up Saturday! I think it may be on a theme of songs that can make your ears bleed. TGIF! Everyone have a safe day and night . Peace Jimmy "RASS"
