Chris, I haven't been around in awhile OMG!!!!! Absolutely stunning!!!!!!! You have been burning the candle at both ends. I'm happy to see you are using 1:1 paint products!!! PPG, Custom Shop and HOK are favorites of mine. I'm hoping you found those products to be very friendly! I know you have been getting some flap about the time you have put in!! I'm sure it's all in jest!! By definition you may have built a model or facsimile of Snakes Car. However in reality you have a piece of artwork!!!!!! The time and dedication you have put in for your self enjoyment of the hobby you love is has to be very fulfilling!!!!! Taking us along for the ride on this most incredible journey has been a act few would attempt!!! It takes time to shoot the pictures, edit, and respond the way you do is a act of brotherhood and unselfishness. THANK YOU!!! I look forward to the rest of the ride!!! Jimmy "RASS" -

Ditto on Aces reply. For 1:1 I measure in oz's and use Zahn cups. For models do like Ace says and you will be fine!! Soon you will be mixing and spraying like a pro!!! FYI, HOK: Has a striping and lettering urethane in many colors used for 1:1. It is compatible with all HOK products and works great through a airbrush. It comes in the small cans (I think they are 1/4 pints) I use this product all the time on 1:1. I HAVE NOT used it on plastic!!! IMO I don't see a problem because the product is not that aggressive or HOT and dries very fast. Best practice is to always test first on a practice panel. This product is awesome! Peace Jimmy "RASS"

Kyle, I have not used any of these products but have sprayed many gallons of kandy paint in the last forty years. (See profile) If you are trying to emulate a Kandy finish always paint in what is called straight line thinking. Meaning start at the front or rear and paint the whole side of the object. With a kandy finishes your technique needs to be much more disciplined that with conventional colors. Start your paint flow before you reach the object and continue paint flow past the object. Do not make like your airbrush is a keyboard! Nice steady flow and cadence makes for super paint work. Although you can get various shades of say kandy red by putting fewer coats on however Kadies are designed to reach what is called a ceiling color. Meaning it will reach a optimum color (as shown on a color chip) usually 3-5 coats depending on the color and base, after it reaches the ceiling color it really doesn't get darker (that's a misnomer) it gets what we call muddy, Dull, Less Depth, Less Reflectivity of the base color. Kadies can be mixed to any color of the rainbow and then some. It is best practice to spray the color you desire and use the 3-5 coats procedure vs cheating the surface of pigment I hope this helps! Peace Jimmy "RASS" Spraying colors on models having shades lighter that what is on a color chip is fine as they are not exposed to the elements, however on a 1:1 you would have a condition called color holdout you have to get the proper amount of paint on the subject to prevent the color from fading, A good UV clear coat helps with preventing fading but you have to get the pigment down to have the color be lightfast

Mike, Your work looks great with the pre thinned. What I was trying to imply is not all paints are equal. some require more reducer and some require less. Even if you buy your paint pre reduced I would still want reducer on my bench to adjust the mixture, You will be able to perform much better paint finishes when you have the ability to adjust your mixture. I have been spraying these components 1:1 for some 40 years (see profile) I know through experience this to be true VERY nice builds great choice of colors!!! Peace Jimmy "RASS"

My hard drive on new laptop that I have had for about 5 weeks total crash! Took it to where I bought it and it will cost me to have all of the operating software reloaded. I haven't purchased a computer in like 3 year and they use to come with a recovery disc. Apparently not with H.P. Now I have to do the whole thing of downloading a bunch of software YADA YADA. I'm going to call H.P. tomorrow as I think I'm getting hosed

Just a FYI, Black Gold has been packaging HOK in rattle cans for at least 5 years and continue to expand the products they package. I have never used any of the rattle cans but it is genuine HOK in the can They package in rattle cans but the original objective was to sell small amounts in various oz sizes that you had to reduce to spray. Bottom line you can get the product in rattle cans or small amounts that you reduce and spray I still on occasionally purchase from Black Gold (nice people) I get most of my HOK locally and from Coast Airbrush.

Really, Has our society sunk so low that you can't start a thread with the title "Something To Ponder" without being attacked. Ponder, pon/der, verb. think about (something) carefully, especially before making a decision or reaching a conclusion. Have we lost all sense of comprehension when we read the English language? What about civility? I hear more critical thinking and personal attacks. (back door) I never disparaged anyone who builds them, likes them and who likes to visit those areas of interest. The only thing I said that was remotely negative was I'm looking forward to the truck issue like a root canal. That's a personal choice I have pondered. Do I really have that much power with that statement that I could personally effect someone!!! trust me I don't have that kind of power. It's not that I don't like trucks, I do, I own one. I just don't have a interest in building one in plastic much like many here have no interest in building a Race Car. I personally don't care what anyone builds as long as it makes you happy. I Pondered again and started this thread because I was curious as to why trucks got equal billing on MCM. Nothing more nothing less. I think Bobby is on to something!!!!!! He has pondered and has come up with a much better solution than I could have or heard from anyone else. Does this really have to be that difficult? Differences of opinions bring results ( think of brain storming) Attacks cause dissension. Moderators if you want to shut this down I have no objections!!! I can see this is likely going no where other than a shoving match. Martin5, Your sarcasm is a classic and a very classy response. GMAB Peace and respect to all!!! Jimmy "RASS"
