I went ahead & finished the front panel taped it up for pics Here's a topical view Done building & headed for bed Got to go paint the bottom color on the cab & the front panel on the bed Here's the before I figured that it would glow in the dark or make my cell phone crazy It's going to be my support vehicle for the houseboat project & the camp we have there those cabinets will hold generators, welders etc + it'll make our camp shower & toilet water last longer we'll have a 2500 gallon capacity now Had to cut & treat rust+ strengthen the bed sides with that tread plate

Thanks JT! I used to be a custom builder on real vehicles I do custom boats/campers now & what ever else that comes along Here's my summer project Captains quarters up there Gonna build a 1/25 scale of it too Maybe I can post it in the Big Rig section The motor is a diesel from a Kenworth like Sonny & Frank used to drive

In the past I have bought kit after kit of the same thing to get certain parts for my builds & when I was drafting my HaulerHome in my head I figured that I'd buy a Racers Wedge/Camper kit & rob the RV fixtures I needed from the camper kit Then while laying some things out the other night I figured I'd ask here if there's anyone who does the RV type of stuff I'd have to search out 3 Revell 359 Petes just to get the beds from the sleepers alone & I want to do more than one RV type kit involving car transport Any help is greatly appreciated Bob

Their prices are all over the board FireTrucks from AMT for 95.00+shipping $35-50+reasonable shipping NIB They look like the folks on Ebay with the cheapest LN SnowPlow kit I'll check it later -
I bought a complete "HideOut" truck about 8 months ago without the box Everything perfect in bags the only loss to the kit were the box & these My "PapaTruck" basically the same way only with a box Both complete though I've started building the HideOut & it seems to have no problems with being brittle or warped & the tires are perfect I have seen some of what you guys are talking about though

I've never owned a SquareBack but I've always loved them since I was a child There's one on my bucket list though The only ones I've ever seen were rusted beyond what labor I wanted to do & I don't mind doing the labor -

what color dominates your builds?
DodgeAddict replied to tubbs's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I can't decide on colors The ones with paint either came that way or are builds that I bought I know what colors some are going to be because they represent people in my past or present life in my diorama my daughter & I are building -
Thanks all of you!

Alan those look great! You've been pm'd again -
The rollback is built using Evergreen 189 .125X.250,Dodge front stub,tires/wheels & rear axle from the GMC with the front wheels & tires easily adapted to use a steel axle This is the first pic I took after deciding what to use for the correct floor for a rollback bed for the 70's-80's look I used a HaulAway rear ramp for mock up The tape is still on the frame in the first few pics The bed patterned from the Haulaway ramp was built using evergreen 189 125X250 square stock, parts sprew & a piece of floor from a ribbed side AMT box trailer I use the best looking part of the floor to get the best looking woodgrain pattern that was correct there's some styrene sheet in there too The first pic is before the winch & chain cavity was cut out The second & third pic, the day two more donor GMC's arrived & I had built the cavity previous while waiting The wood paint looks better in person but before finishing I want to wipe a wash across it to high light the woodgrain I'm going to widen the headache rack of the wrecker donor to fit this & use all of its tow accessories I'll be finalizing my order list for building materials soon for most of my builds & this gets a sliding/reclining mechanism as soon as the styrene hits the table
-
This is the first mock up for the wrecker using the GMC chassis The interior tub of the Dodge & the frame don't jive well so this is a cab only shot A few nights later it looked as it does now with a Dodge front stub attached to the GM rear stub almost looks like it was made that way I'm rushing through so my details aren't as sharp besides, a real Dodge man knows that's no Dodge rear frame anyway Before final assembly & paint this truck will get a new original issue cab assembly The cab presently on it will be the shop trash truck with primered panels & rusted stacks & steps with one missing original wheel & wrong air breather just like some of the real ones you find today

Here's how the build has went in the last month or so These pick up where the ones in beginning post left off Mock up began with a rear ramp from a Haulaway trailer kit at first the idea was to have it drop down out of the deck of the truck & quickly decided it wasn't happening, then use an attached platform to the rear This changed again as did the original floor layout this is what came out of my mind starting out for the floor plan The lower open area is of course the kitchen/delicate parts shop carb building etc I closed in the backs of the outer cabinets to provide a correct look the open area in the center in the rear was for working under the car Then a couple nights later I scratch build a ramp change my mind on the floor plan & where the ramp gets placed plus lay down new double diamond tread plate The next night or so I built the front wall & started the floor for the sleeping area in the upper front A few nights later I built the rear wall & the second floor the ceiling/second floor is from a a piece of floor & wall from a box trailer The trailer wall provides a riveted metal look for the ceiling The second floor will get covered in double diamond as well the second floor is narrower than the others to allow access using one of the ladders that came with the kit The new floor plan provides complete walk through when a vehicle isn't loaded The next night I built the sink base & kitchen cabinets The face is the kingpin plate from the parts trailer & those holes are for kitchen utensils In this pic you can see the edge of the ribbed trailer siding that covers the front wall the same siding is on the bottom side of the over cab floor
