Kit car kits
Jon Haigwood replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not sure the Cobra fits in this group It started out as a car not a kit car. Although there are kits (1:1) to make a Cobra Kit Car most model kits are of the Cobra not the Cobra Kit Cars. (Now I am confused) -
Hobby Lobby/ Michaels ?
Jon Haigwood replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My club gets a 10% discount at HB. My club also puts on seminars at both HT and HL. Hobby towns main concern is RC and model cars are an after though so they carry minimal amounts of anything. You can order what you need but it may be awhile before it comes in. -

Y Block Tri Power ?

Which one ? -
They just opened up a Hobby Lobby in my area. As far as Model car kits they have about the same as Michaels. They do have other models that Michaels doesn't carry but carry a lot of the other art stuff that Michaels carries. With their similarities in store stock and coupons available I thought maybe they were both connected in ownership in some way.v Your thoughts ?

Building a 56 Ford mild custom with tri power. Trying to decide what air cleaner(s) to use . Did they use any one piece air cleaners back in the 50's/60's ? I have the standard round chrome ones that are commonly used and the finned ones that was in my Tri Power kit from R&M of which I can not seem to find any 1:1 air cleaners to compare them with. Podcasts ?
Jon Haigwood replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I am thinking Podcasts and youtube "how-tos" and "product revues" may be a bit different. -
Our local Club (SABA) will be discussing the use of making Podcasts to help promote model building for the younger generation. I have zero experience with podcasts. I would like your thoughts on the subject. Thanks

Dyed clear rear window

I dug out my old homemade vacuum former for reference. I made this after reading an article in a model mag, somewhere in the 90's. I had good access to plexiglass at the time. It was designed to use a shop vac.connected via the plumbing connectors. I have so been unable to find the metal framework with handle that would clamp around a sheet of plastic (8.5 x 11). The method of operation was to place the buck (item to be copied) on the top and heat the plastic sheet mounted in the framework, place it in a toaster oven until the plastic started to sag. Then quickly place it over the vacuum box and hit the shop vac "on" switch. I only used it once to try and duplicate a Cobras Daytona body for slot car use. Unfortunately it would not curve inwards at the base of the sides. -
