Flat Head finned head ?
Jon Haigwood replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Thanks I will check them out -
Looking for a early Ford finned flat head head, Plan on building the Tweedy Pie in the original Bob Johnston version before it was Rothafided. Anyone have one in resin or have seen one in a kit ? Doesn't have to be a Edelbrock. Thanks Jon

Just a bit overpriced ?
Jon Haigwood replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Maybe I should change it to "overvalued" -
Gas Monkeys 30 Model A Roadster seems about $10K overpriced to me, comparing them with what is available here. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Roadster/292661890372?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D53469%26meid%3Dcd542555f6294a0c9ca34b2def63aa4c%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D14%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D292661890372%26itm%3D292661890372&_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci:dbe23685-9987-11e8-9a1f-74dbd1807e63|parentrq:0fb67c661650aa1282850bdcffff380f|iid:1

pricing at swap meet/show
Jon Haigwood replied to jeffdeoranut's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
All of the above is good advice. I always priced my kits from $10 to $20 depending on their rarity. I have rented tables and still not sold enough to pay for it. Most sellers price very reasonably but there is always one or two that have the old and rare kits that start at $40 and go up. In my opinion the swap meets are the best places to buy and sell -
Looking to buy or make a paint booth. any recommendations or suggestions ? Thanks Jon (picture included)

Jeepite
Jon Haigwood replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in WIP: All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
Yes that would go well with the Jeepite. Same recoilless rifle -
Why not include a picture ?

With Createx (Auto Air, Wicked Colors) it is recommended that you wait 5 to 10 minutes before you use it.

tri-power for a Y-block
Jon Haigwood replied to Jantrix's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have a set for my 56. Will most likely order some more nice stuff. The air cleaners did look small. Going with a air cleaner that covers all three carbs -
Createx Gloss Top Coat
Jon Haigwood replied to Harpo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I use a (free) program MP3 Rocket to record youtube videos. Most of Createx videos can be found there. I record all of them and keep them in my paint file. -
Createx Gloss Top Coat
Jon Haigwood replied to Harpo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Good information on using Createx. I also bought a bottle of Gloss Clear but have yet to try it. From what I read elsewhere I don't believe it will give a finish like Tamiya or the others. Looks like it will make a good intercoat clear for masking. -
This was a quick fun build. My club decided on yet another challenge build. I actually finished this before the deadline (Veterans Day) . Our club normally doesn't do military builds but in honor of Veterans Day we did this one. I had a Surfite that I wanted to do something different with and a Jeep kit that had some WWII weapons and other misc. parts and decals, so I combined the two and ended up with this. Not meant to be a showstopper just a fun build. This is what you would get if Ed Roth designed for the Army. I call it the Jeepite.

How I scracth build engine pulleys
Jon Haigwood replied to Darren B's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Great Idea thanks for posting. Saved video for reference -
When it is cold in my painting area I warm the rattle cans either on top of a radiator style space heater or in the dehydrator. I don't heat up Createx paints just mix and prep them in the house at room temp. Sometimes I will warm up the car bodies some before paint in colder temps. I have had paint can nozzles clog up in colder temps.

The "kid is 48, and disabled. Definitely did what he said he did.

This seems to be posted more in the line of "Car Kit News" than a review. There is a difference.

This kit is one of my builds in waiting. I am disappointed in the chassis with molded in exhaust and floor pan as one unit. I did pick up a couple parts kits of Revells Fireball Roberts that I will be using to replace the floor pan, frame and exhaust with. I will also be using one for my AMT 56 Victoria build

On that I can agree. Maybe my remark was based on the fact That I like the 48 Ford styling and think the 48 Chevy/Olds/Caddy?etc are ugly. Looking thru the pics on Kustomrama, I a tendency to prefer the ones that look different not the ones made to look like another car. No matter the outcome you have to appreciate the work and time and imagination that went into any custom. All babies are loved by their mothers. you have to respect that.
