Grabowski's "77 Sunset Tee" found
Jon Haigwood replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It is a real shame . Arguably Norms T is noted to be the start of the T Bucket era. When I looked at the picture of the Lil coffin I think I threw up a little in my mouth, yuck -

Pledge over Createx Problems
Jon Haigwood replied to Harpo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Used Future over Createx never had that problem. How much and what are you reducing the createx with ? I normally use 4012 reducer. In the past I just used water. The future maybe have issues with the 4030, it's not meant to be reducer. I have not tried it yet but one of the guys in our local club reduces the Createx with future and gets good results. -
Glue for thread ?
Jon Haigwood replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Your right I am trying not to have to paint it after it is put on. I do use the Tamyia to soften it, that's how I bent the half round on the front seat. I will make a trip to michaels and see if I can find anything that might be an alternative to thread. -
Glue for thread ?
Jon Haigwood replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I am making sections with .010 sheet styrene and .080 half round for the back seat. Glueing on .080 half round on the front seat. And making sections with sheet styrene and .060 for the dash and the rear deck. I want the piping to go around the edges of the front seat and at the top of the rear seat. I thought about using rod but I want it black and if I paint it black the paint will most likely rub off when I bend it around the corners and attach it. -

Painting Engine Parts
Jon Haigwood replied to PrjDream's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I use a satin clear, unless the car is a show car the engine is rarely shiny , -
I am delving into Tuck and Roll interior and was thinking about using thread for piping. Would elmers be a good glue for that ? I need something that won't show on the thread when dry.

Car Repair Ripoffs 1: Dealerships
Jon Haigwood replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Having worked for a Car Dealership (Chrysler/Plymouth) in the mid 70's I can say at that time not all dealerships worked that way. As an example we had a customer come in and ask for a rear main seal replacement as it was losing a lot of oil down the back side of the motor. Now this customer was a used car dealer that about a month earlier sold me a car that ended up having a cracked block and it was my lose. At our shop we discovered that the rear main seal was OK but the leakage was from the valve cover gaskets. While it was a good time for Karma to get pay back on the cracked block we replaced the valve cover gaskets and saved the customer money and time in the shop. That being said that is one reason I buy my tires at Discount Tire now instead of Les Schwab -

Jon Haigwood replied to landman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I believe the original Hot Rod Lincoln had a Lincoln frame also. Lincoln front bumper and it was black. . I planned on doing one sometime in the future and I have some research info on it. I will see if I can locate it you are interested. -

I see some posts in the "General" section asking for advice that I feel should be in the Model Building Questions and Answer section. I may have done some myownself. But or me that's OK. It seems like you get more answers in the "General" section as more people read that than the "Question" section.

Has anyone built these?
Jon Haigwood replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Checking farther , the Hot Rod article states he used a "Phaeton" another site states he used the front half of a Touring body. What is the difference between the Touring and the Phaeton? And most importantly does AMT's vintage Police Car have the divider behind the front seat?
