tread width on cheater slicks
Jon Haigwood replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I will probably have to order from Speed City just wish they had the hood scoop I need so I could get them from the same place to save on shipping. Competition has the hood scoop but doesn't know the width of their cheaters. -

Jon Haigwood replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I may have to order tires from Speed City Resin they are the correct width (7") but they dont have the Hemi hood scoop I need. I was hoping to get tires and hood scoop at the same place to save on shipping. -
Looking at some Competition Resins Cheater slicks for a 60's Super Stock class. Anyone know the width of these tires ? I called them and he said he did not know of the top of his head but he thought they were 1" ?? http://www.compresins.com/site/751597/product/CRT-502

Mopar Super Stock Reference material ?
Jon Haigwood replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Since I have the Ramcharger decals I thought I would go with that. I was under the impression that on the Hemi engine cars they used a 4 spd but I see the Ramchargers were auto's. -
Mopar Super Stock Reference material ?
Jon Haigwood replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I do think the car in the video is a clone I noticed the grille was painted white where the raced cars were chrome or stainless . I was most interested in engine detail and roll bar as the one in the kit was not correct as the slicks were too wide also. There are a lot of pics on the facebook and web pages of the Ramchargers and Golden Commandos but most of them are just pics of the outside of the car. I will check out the hot rod article. Thanks -
I need some 7" cheaters for a Super Stock build. I know Speed City Resins carry some but Competition Resins also shows some but it does not state the width. Anybody know what the width is on these and which would be a better tire ? Thanks Jon

How to pronounce Porsche
Jon Haigwood replied to afx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
We pronounce it "whats-this-here-sauce" And how you pronounce Porsche all depends on if you have one or not. -
I don't normally post in "on the workbench" but since I won't have these done by the new year I thought I would put these on here to show that actually do work on models First up is a 64 Dodge 330 that started out as a Color Me Gone and changed to a factory street version that I think depicts the car in "Little Old Lady in Pasadena". I needed a 4spd so I opted to use the Max Wedge with the manual trans from the Petty Plymouth. I also use the Petty dash to have the right peddle setup. I used some parts box exhaust and modified it into the Max Wedge setup. It is waiting until I can get the body painted and foiled to be finished. Next up is the companion car for the first one. I call it the "Dirty Old Man from Pasadena" . I used the Petty Belvadere . I fortunately it has the stock door panels on the reverse side but there were no arm rest so had to scratch build some. Since it was to be an automatic I modified the interior hump to be for the automatic. Just like the Dodge it is also waiting for the body to get finished (oops wrong body in this Pic) I am trying to improve my detailing as I go and work on different aspects as I go. My skill are a work in progress. Thanks for looking (after I finish these there are two more 64's in the planning stage)

Got bit on ebay
Jon Haigwood replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
One is the Monogram body and the other must be the Johan 1/25th (maybe the Petty car) The monogram has the vinyl roof and molded in engine compartment and the red one has a plain roof and no engine compartment and is definitely smaller, -

This is what I won http://www.ebay.com/itm/302128397486 The seller contacted me and said "Sorry for the mix up. I am sending the Charger 500 Items today. Please send back the Superbirds and I will credit you for the postage." I will have to wait and see what he sends me . Thanks for the info on the DOH -

I will give the seller a chance to respond first but I think I have a delayed payment deal on my Paypal I could use if I have to. He has good feedback and so do I (100%) so I hate to mess it up if I dont have to. I will let you know on your kit as soon as I figure his out. Thanks -

They were advertised as Charger 500 bodies. I have sent seller a message but he has not responded yet. -
Well I have never had a bum deal on ebay,,,until now. I have been looking for a Charger 500 body for awhile. I found a ebay add that had two in a junkyard batch of parts. They came today......they are Superbird bodies, Oh well should have checked them out a bit better . One is a 1/25th nd one is a 1/24. Maybe I can cut the back window out and transplant it to a Charger

Anybody ever built one of these?

Anyone know of a resin 41 Chevy Coupe body out there other than the pro-mod ?

i have been de-canting Dupli-color acrylic enamel to use in a air brush and thinning with lacquer thinner. My goof-ups seem to strip better in brake fluid so they go into the "golden pond".
