  1. Looking good Al! Steve
  2. It's times like this when I wish that I hadn't traded mine away! Steve
  3. I'll check into that as well. Steve
  4. I have heard of it. I just never felt the need to add yet another adhesive to the arsenal. Steve
  5. I'll take all of the 2 piece ones you have!! Steve
  6. It is. But it was spectacularly done! Steve
  7. I never use accelerator. And it's one of my rules to never use CA on chrome or clear parts, as well as anything glued to the body. I'll stick with my epoxy, clear parts cement and Laser Bond for those types of tasks. Steve
  8. I'm sure that would work too. But don't you have issues with CA glue fogging your chrome? Steve
  9. Neither do I, but even something as simple as adding a nice mirror or antenna on a curbside build can amp up the realism a bunch! Steve
  10. Speaking of tremendous, but depressing movies. "Power is when we have every justification to kill, and we don't". Steve
  11. Looks great Paul! And you couldn't have chosen a more iconic color for the first one. Pagoda Green, or Dynasty Green? (Always looked blue to me by the way) Steve
  12. Yes David, I use a lighted magnifier. I would have to give up building without it! The whitewall tire is from the Moebius '65 Plymouth kit. You can now order sets of these tires from on line hobby suppliers. I'm still not certain if I will use these, or the original tires from the '67 Ford kit. Steve
  13. Nice work! I'm no fan of customs, but this one is very tastefully done! The wheels aren't hideous and it's not painted some putrid "day glow" green! I like the fact that you chose a nice Mopar power plant option and refrained from chopping holes in the hood for some gigantic blower or a mismatched hood scoop. The interior is tasteful and the stance looks great! Great job! Steve
  14. I use the same. This will pretty much cover all of the bases. I avoid using standard masking tape any place where it will be touching my paint jobs. I've had multiple issues, including pulling off paint and leaving residue that can be difficult to remove. You're better off limiting the use of any tape that will be touching your prized paint job and use masking paper as much as possible. Steve
  15. It's not really necessary to pin them. I just lay the mirror portion face down on the edge of a piece of tape on an old paint jar, put a dab of 2 part epoxy on the back of it, let the glue get to the point where it is nearly set, and then stick the base on with a tweezers so that the long part of it hangs over the paint jar and rests against the side for support as it dries. after a few minutes when the epoxy is mostly set, you can pull it off of the tape, set it upright, and adjust the mirror slightly if necessary. Of all of the trials and tribulations that come along with building a model, I really don't find gluing a 2 piece mirror together all that difficult. The little fine details are the fun part of building. Steve
  16. The movie is Papillon. The true story of Henri Charriere's incarceration and escape from a prison in French Guiana. Starring Steve Mcqueen and Dustin Hoffman. My guess is that you're thinking of the scene where Papillon and Louis Dega have escaped to an island with indigenous people where the women are topless? The only cigar scene that I can remember is when they happen upon the leper colony and their leader offers Papillon his cigar? I still think it's one of the all time greats. Steve
  17. I believe that I know what I will be doing all day today. It took me a good 20 minutes to get one hubcap detailed, and by the time I was done, my eyes and fingers hurt! Need to take a rest between each one! I'm glad that I didn't have these wheel covers re-chromed. I think the original dull finish replicates the real hubcaps better than new bright, shiny chrome would. Steve
  18. Me thinks you are thinking of a different movie? "Make the best of what we offer you, and you will suffer less than you deserve" is the quote. Here is another one that might help you. "Put all hope out of your mind, and masturbate as little as possible. It drains the strength". Steve
  19. I will agree with that. It works fine for glass, and helps immensely for tacking parts into place, but if you need a stronger bond, use something else. I use it a lot in combination with other adhesives. It's lack of bond and instant set is what makes it such a great mock up glue. Steve
  20. I second this opinion. Steve
  21. There's a guy selling 3d printed parts on ebay under the name of "3dscaleparts". He has some interesting stuff including convertible up tops for a lot of early 60s Chevys. ('61-'64} But I haven't seen any Chevelle stuff. And if price is an issue, you'll want to skip it anyway. The stuff is not cheap! An up top will make your wallet lighter by $25.00! Steve
  22. That's the way that I prefer them! That way they look like an actual mirror! If you have any that you don't want Rick, I will absolutely take them off of your hands! I'm always looking for good mirrors! Steve
  23. Nobody? Only one of the best movies ever made! Steve
  24. The engine is finished! I also mounted the firewall to the interior bucket and finished assembling the chassis. After a few adjustments ad touch-ups, I should be able to mate the engine to the chassis. Steve
