  1. If it's Testors enamel that you're working with, I wouldn't touch it for a minimum of a month! Enamels take forever to cure completely. Steve
  2. I think too many people are looking for some sort of "miracle" or "silver bullet" with these pens. I agree with most of the sentiments here. The pens have their place, but if you think you're going to whip out a perfect trim job in a few minutes by just pulling out your magic pen & drawing on some trim, I believe you are mistaken. Model building is supposed to be an intricate & time consuming operation. People need to learn to take the time to do it right if you want the finished model to look great. In my opinion, there are no short cuts. Steve
  3. Understandable. What I have heard is that he has taken on some rather large contracts with some resin casters which has made things extremely busy for him. He also does the lions share of his business on Facebook which might explain why he has not been answering his emails. I agree that it would make things much easier for us "non-facebook" people if he was more accessible by other means, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. The gentleman from whom he took over was Bob from Bob's Paints, and he is an exemplary guy. If he and others are vouching for George, I have little reason to doubt that he will be dependable. There are people on the forum who can help you get in touch with him if you're having difficulty & need to contact him. You can always PM "Eshaver". She evidently has a "direct line" to George. Steve
  4. Most of these model parts platers farm out their parts for plating Dwayne. I think that the exception might be Little Motor Kar Co. Kustom Khrome & Chrome Tech do not plate their own parts. Very expensive equipment is required for "vacuum metalizing". I have looked into sending parts directly to a plating facility, and believe me, it is absolutely cost prohibitive. These model plating outfits like GT KK & ChromeTech keep their prices low by working on a bulk rate basis. They send out racks of parts from many modelers at the same time to keep rates reasonable. This is also the reason why they require a detailed parts list. Your parts may be on a rack with a half dozen other customers parts. Even with an outfit like Little Motor Kar, you can never be guaranteed that there will not be lost parts. None of these businesses are ever going to be able to guarantee you that there will not be the possibility of loss or damage, so it only makes good business sense on Georges part to let you know of that possibility in advance. Granted, if the parts are plated in house, there may be less of a chance that parts may be lost, but you cannot be sure. In the end, if you are adamant that your parts only travel to one facility, you are limited to either Little Motor Kar Co. or a full fledged vacuum metalizer, in which case your half dozen bumpers & a dozen wheels might run you $250.00. Steve
  5. GT Kustom Khrome uses the plater that used to do the plating for several of the kit manufacturers. They do excellent work! Steve
  6. Hang in there Jeremy. You always have to remember that it could have been much worse. Your son will heal & will remain in your life. Never forget what the alternative may have been. Steve
  7. I tried to contact George by email at least twice over a 2 month period & never did get a response. I understand that he is busy & does most of his business through facebook, but it would have been nice to get a few more particulars from him before I commit to sending him some parts. I had used Kustom Khrome before George took the reigns and was extremely happy with the results, so even though I have yet to deal with him directly, I somehow have trust in him. I don't do facebook, but I have acquired a price list & mailing address, so at this point, I think that I will just ship him the parts along with a check & hope for the best. Steve
  8. Another vote for the dehydrator. Steve
  9. No. Just a fairly common combination of "Rose Quartz" & "Coral". I believe that the "La Femme" as an actual Dodge model, was available in '55 & '56 only. Steve
  10. Hmmm, "Cadovettmino"! There's a mouth full! Steve
  11. I'll bet that was a real beauty! Steve
  12. I really like your '59 Dodge! Steve
  13. I don't use wax either. I use Novus polishes and Turtle Wax "Scratch and Swirl Remover". The scratch remover gives me a super glossy finish. Steve
  14. I guess this one would fit the bill. It has gone through a transformation since I acquired it. Steve
  15. That's probably what I would do. I don't much care for the GT wheels. Steve
  16. Doesn't bother me either. I just think that there are a lot of guys that have no interest in anything other than a full detail kit. They're missing out on a lot of great subject matter in my opinion. Steve
  17. Yeah, you would think that there would have been more interest. Probably had something to do with it being a curbside kit? Steve
  18. I think that if I built one, it might have to be this color. "Indian Fire". Steve
  19. I've had an AMT '69 Galaxie in my stash for years but never really had much interest in building it. But I could get interested in this GT option! Only problem is, if I were to build it, I would then feel obligated to try and find a '68 to do a GT version of that as well! Steve
  20. Just out of curiosity, I was wondering if anybody knew of someone who produces the GT stripe decals for the '69 Galaxie GT? I never realized that the '69 Ford could look this good! Steve
  21. Well, they're not exactly like picking up stones from a gravel road, but they are out there. As far as price goes, any time you have a kit that is OOP, you are going to have to pay a price for it. $70.00 may sound high, but it all depends on how badly you want one. You can buy 3 modern kits that you can live without, or you can save your money & buy one that you really want. It's all relative. As they say, you have to pay to play. Or, you can wait & hope that Round 2 re-issues it sometime before we die! Steve
  22. it absolutely was. An AMT (Model King) repop. It was reissued in limited numbers a few years ago & is not terribly difficult to find. So we know that AMT still possesses the molds. It could be reissued again at any time. Steve
  23. It is. I usually shoot a coat of Testors primer under it. Steve
