  1. Thanks Snake! I will email you shortly. I can use all of the help that I can get on this matter. Two heads are better than one! Steve
  2. I will Patrick. There will not be an "announcement" when it leaves. And just like the gifter had done for me, there will be no strings attached. They can do with it whatever they would like. Just for my peace of mind, I was hoping that it would go to someone who would treasure it. I would really hate to see it on ebay in a couple of weeks! I guess the entire concept of this thread was to try to glean a little bit of information to help me make that decision. It would have been much easier to just post it in the trade section as a "free to a good home" post, but then there would be no telling where it might wind up, & I'm positive that I still would have had to make a decision in the end. I guess I figured that if I did it this way, I might gain some sort of epiphany as to where it should go. Steve
  3. I can think of a couple, but I thought that you might have some individuals in mind who I hadn't thought of yet. Steve
  4. How about sending me a PM with a little information Snake! Steve
  5. Thanks Pat. I suspect that this thread has about run it's course anyway. Thanks everybody, for your helpful ideas. I will take them all into account while I decide what to do with the kit. I guess at this point there is little harm in revealing that it is an MPC 1965 Dodge Monaco. So as you see, it's not just a typical kit & is worthy of a bit of consideration as to what should be done with it. When it makes it's way to it's new home, I will inform the recipient of the identity of the gifter. I would prefer that he not be bothered by anyone for whatever reason. He's a stellar individual & I would rather that he remain anonymous at this time. Oh, by the way Patrick. Please don't include Joe, (SfanGoch) in your list of "Grumpy Gus's" He is a terrific guy & I happen to know that his last response was a "tongue in cheek" jab that was not directed towards me. Steve
  6. Hood ornaments. Somewhere along the line, these Plymouth hood ornaments were "carried over" between several different kits. They were included in the '63-'66 Plymouth Fury kits & somehow they wound up in the later issue '62 Dodge & Plymouth kits. They are all Plymouth ornaments & were included in pairs. Possibly because they felt that there was a good possibility that one might be lost at some point. They are not pictured in the instructions because obviously, the '62 Plymouth & Dodge didn't have hood ornaments. It's easy to see why you had problems identifying these parts with all of the flash evident on your parts. Most of the ones that I have are much cleaner & easily identifiable as a Plymouth hood ornament by the "rocket" in the center. Hang on to them! They might come in very handy if you ever come across a '63-'66 Fury that you want to restore! Steve (CORRECTION, the ornament pictured below was from the '63 Plymouth, (included in the '62 kits) the '64-'66 were styled differently.) 1963 Plymouth hood ornament.
  7. That's a great looking color on that car! Love it John!! Steve
  8. I didn't realize that we were keeping count. If you can think of a better avenue for getting advice from the members here, I'm all ears. You're correct Bob, it's a model car. This is a model car forum. Steve
  9. Thanks Bob. So far the guidance has been very helpful. But I guess there needs to be one bomb thrower in the group. Steve
  10. That's probably the best approach that I've heard so far. I just want to be certain that I don't stash it away & forget about it. Steve
  11. I promised myself that I wouldn't trade for it, but in this case, I'll make an exception! Steve
  12. I just built one not too long ago. I have way too many subjects that I haven't yet built to get interested in building another one. Steve
  13. No. No rush. But it's just one of those things that kind of sits there in the back of my mind & distresses me. Steve
  14. I really had no interest in making this an all out "pay it forward" thing where the recipient would be expected to pay something forward as well. I just want to basically give it away to someone who will keep it and build it with no expectations beyond that. I've been toying with the idea of just adding it to my latest thread in the trade section just to see what shakes out. I have a few individuals in mind who I have dealt with in the past whom I respect immensely & are highly interested in this sort of kit, and would likely keep & build it. The problem is that these are the same individuals who are the most likely to already have one! I don't know, maybe I should just post it up in the trade section as a sort of "prize" for the best reason why I should give it to you! But, as you say, I don't want to make it into a spectacle! Steve
  15. I do. I know several. That's the problem. I only have one to give! Steve
  16. I might have to try that grip. The lack of it is probably the only complaint that I might have about this air brush! Steve
  17. Very nice Randy! I have not seen many of these built. Steve
  18. I bought this one a few months ago. I love it! Steve
  19. Thanks everybody. I appreciate all of the help, & I agree, there are a ton of great people on the forum. This is not the first time that I have had this happen, & I have been happy to return the favor in many instances. This time I would really like to pay it forward, and I hope that the individual who sent it too me doesn't think that he is getting off scot-free. There is a good possibility that something might just "show up" on his door step at some point! While I would like to give this kit to a whole bunch of guys on this forum, I just want to be sure that it goes to someone who doesn't already have one, & somebody that will really appreciate it. Steve
  20. Nice Joe! I've been looking for one of those '63-'65 Rivieras! Steve
  21. That's my thought, but I'm just trying to sift through some of the threads & my own mind to see if I can find an individual who has expressed a real interest in one of these kits & a desire to build it. I just don't want it to go somewhere where it will just sit for another 30 years. Maybe I'm just over thinking it. I will give you all one hint. It is a mid '60s Mopar. Steve
  22. No. Looking for a worthy individual to give a nice old vintage kit to. Steve
  23. We do Dan. I have had this sort of thing happen to me before and have done it myself, but this time, it just seemed correct to do something about it. In the past, I have been on the receiving end of this sort of thing, but it was usually in response to a desire to find an item on my part. I have also gifted items to individuals who have expressed a need or desire for something that I happen to have that I don't have a particular or immediate use for. This one was just out of left field and has kind of left me at a loss........but in a good way! Steve
  24. I finished the first one basically stock. At this time, I don't want to post any photos because I don't want this thread to turn into a "I want it" thing. I'm more looking for advice at the moment. Steve
  25. I have a little bit of an issue that I need to resolve guys. Maybe you can help. I recently sold some vintage parts to a forum member whom I won't name at this time. He very promptly sent me the money order in exchange for the parts, but to my surprise, he also included a model kit! But not just any model kit. It's a relatively rare kit that is at least 95% complete and completely restorable! I promptly contacted him & informed him that the kit that he had sent me alone was probably worth as much as the parts that I had sent him, never mind the money. He replied that he felt that it had my name all over it, thought that he would never build it & said that he figured that I would appreciate it more than he would. I responded that I felt bad & that I had already built the same kit, & would likely not build a second one & would immediately send it back if he would like. He told me "No. Sell it, trade it, part it out, whatever you want. It's yours now." So now I have a rather pleasurable problem that I need to take care of. I feel guilty just thinking of filing it away along with the many other kits that I will likely never get to, & I would feel doubly guilty if I profited from it in any way. My first thought is to "pay it forward". I would absolutely be interested in giving it to another individual, but I really want to make sure that it's going to someone who will also not just stick it into a corner with 1,000 other kits never to see the light of day again. I would like someone to have it who not only would really desire it, (ie. a Holy Grail kit) but will build it sometime in the very near future. My only other thought was to try to trade it for something that the "gifter" would desire, or sell it and buy something for him that he would like. Problem is that I will likely get no help from him in that regard. So, help me out guys. How do I deal with this situation. Steve
