  1. Johan did the same during that time period. The boxes were all the same & they didn't even bother with a sticker depicting the car. Just a stamp on one end panel with a description of the contents. I guess people trusted more back then. Could have been a Palmer kit inside! Steve
  2. Not here yet but my Mobius '65 Plymouth Belvedere is on it's way! Should be here Monday! Steve
  3. Almost as ugly as this......Almost! Steve
  4. What amazes me is that someone thought that this monstrosity actually warranted a fairly decent paint job. Steve
  5. The surroundings look quite conducive to the manufacture of methamphetamine. Steve
  6. I have Internet Explorer on my computer as well. Had a whole host of other problems with that. That's when I started using Firefox. Everything works just fine with Firefox everywhere.....except here. Steve
  7. I think this guy needs to learn how to make a decision! Steve
  8. Yup it was already suggested once. Thanks for the feedback. Probably won't happen on this one. This is just something to get me back in the mood, so to speak..to get out of a rut, I feel I'm in. If I get too involved, I'll be right back where I started. Just want a simple fun build for now. That's a great attitude Joel! Nothing will get you back on track like a finished model to show for your efforts. The same day I finish one build, I can't wait to get started on the next! it's a great "kick in the pants". Steve
  9. Exact same thing on my end. This quote box thing is a real joy too, isn't it? I think there's still a little work to be done! Steve
  10. Personally, I love white! Maybe Vito Corleone wouldn't show up in one, but I'll bet Tony Montana would! No, not the football player. The Cuban mobster from Scarface. Anyway, Vito Corleone struck me as being more of a Cadillac kind of guy, Steve
  11. Cool Project John! This is one of those kits that I'd like to find someday. As a matter of fact, I bid on one today that was in very nice condition, but it got too rich for me! Keep us posted on your progress. Steve
  12. Most of these old annual kits from the late 50s & early 60s never depicted the actual model on the box. They were just a generic box for all of the kits with a sticker on the side depicting what was inside. Steve I wonder if they made a 2 door contenental/Mark in the body style of the one the OP is building? No 2 door Continentals of this generation were ever produced as far as I know. Kit or 1:1. Steve
  13. Basically how I built them as a kid LOL So wait a sec... the gold car on the box is a 2 door... but your car is a 4 door... I'm confused. Most of these old annual kits from the late 50s & early 60s never depicted the actual model on the box. They were just a generic box for all of the kits with a sticker on the side depicting what was inside. Steve
  14. Photobucket photo postings work the "correct" way they've worked since 2012 when I joined up here. I think there may be a few people here that disagree Bill. I believe Gregg has acknowledged that it's not working properly. Steve

  16. I did a google search & couldn't find any Electras with that treatment either. I got the info from the bottom of a 1961 Ditzler color chip chart. I assume it would be accurate for the most part. Steve
  17. We're not doing anything wrong. There is a website problem that needs fixing. There are all sorts of ways to fudge our way through getting photos on here, but they're not the correct way. I'm sure the moderators are working on the problem & will have things up & running again in short order. I can post photos on every other site on the planet the "normal" way from photobucket, I'm confident we'll all be able to do the same here soon. Steve
  18. I did a little research John & found my error. Evidently, the 2-tone combination I was thinking of was only available on the Electra. The Invicta was either as your photo depicts, or just a contrasting top. Thanks! Steve
  19. Very nicely done Tulio!.......Again! Steve
  20. Brake fluid takes quite a while too. I haven't used it in years myself because it's kind of messy & I don't want to have to worry about disposing of it afterwards, but I never really seamed to have much luck with it myself. Probably didn't let things soak long enough. Steve, my test hood - overnight soak in Dot 3 Brake Fluid - looked like nothing happened... Took the hood out of the liquid and the paint was so soft, all it needed was a thumb-rubbing and a rinse and it's good-as-new! With the cost substantially higher than Super Clean and the problems you've stated of disposal, I can't see that I'll be using it that extensively, but it is nice to know how it works... and that it actually does work! Art, just wanted to let you know that your tip worked! An overnight soak softened the paint so that with a little rubbing came right off to the bare plastic! Thanks for the tip! DOT-3 brake fluid is reusable, just pour it back in the can. Art I understand that Art, but at some point you have to get rid of it. Super Clean is reusable as well, but at some point, it gets very dirty & you need to refresh your stock. With Super Clean, you can just dump it. Just to be clear, I have no issues with using brake fluid, I just personally would rather not deal with it. Steve
  21. Yeah, it was working a week ago. I guess there's still a few kinks to work out. For the time being, I'm just posting from my files. I'm confident they'll get things working soon. Kind of hard to keep a forum like this operating if people are having to jump through these kinds of hoops just to post photos. Steve

I haven't used it in years myself because it's kind of messy & I don't want to have to worry about disposing of it afterwards, but I never really seamed to have much luck with it myself. Probably didn't let things soak long enough. I have more patience now that I'm older. Steve
  23. Well, at least I know now I'm not crazy! Been trying to post photos from Photobucket all week Using the "insert other media" button, & all I get is that annoying, hypnotic swirling pain in the rear end! Hope this can be fixed soon. I really hate posting from my computer files! Worked just great right after the change over to the new layout. Something obviously happened since then. Still works fine on other sites. Steve
  24. I want to thank all of you who voted in my little poll that I conducted last week. I actually found the results a little surprising. But, with 22 votes cast, the clear favorite was the '61 Buick Invicta with 15 votes, the '66 Chrysler picking up less than half as many with 7, & the '65 Dodge bringing up the rear with a dismal 0! That was the part I found surprising! I actually thought the Dodge may have been right out front! But regardless of all that, the masses have spoken & the '61 Buick gets the nod. Now I need to decide on a color. I already had colors picked for the other 2, but have still to decide on this one. I was contemplating an creamy color of white with a possible metallic blue or green top & matching interior. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that one of the 2-tone options on the '61 Buick included the possibility of the panel around the tail lights a secondary color from the body, probably matching the top color. If that was the case, I have yet to find any photographic evidence of it. Can anyone shed any light on that? Anyway, we have a winner! Steve Sure wish I could go back to posting photos from Photobucket! Hasn't worked for me for the past week or so. Anybody know what's up with that?
  25. Gotcha Bill. Sorry, I can't help with the '59. Steve
