  1. I will let the Michigan guys chime in on what may be local to where you are at but if you want a couple of websites of retailers that could help you, then I suggest either of these two: www.modelroundup.com www.plastic-models.com Both have great customer service and a wide selection of kits of all kinds. Diecast is a metal replica of a vehicle, usually already assembled and comes in sizes ranging from 1/18th to 1/64th. Some collect them but their popularity isn't as great as it once was. Happy hunting!
  2. I work in the auto parts business and currently it requires some "know how".
  3. Had to study that for a minute to see where they patched the sheetmetal from the original headlights and moved them down into the grille. Should be a neat one Chuck!
  4. That's the Maaco method! LOL! Wish I could offer some advice but you have tried all the tricks I know of.
  5. Hurry up, the Southern NNL is only a couple of weeks away! Nice start Tyrone, keep raising the bar !
  6. www.plastic-models.com also has paint available online. Check them out, many times with a $25 order they pick up the shipping. Modelroundup and Hobby Lobby also have online paint ordering.
  7. I wish I could go, I will be in town but have work meetings on Saturday and unable to get out.
  8. I have a friend who has some nice, collectible muscle cars and while he has restored some of them, he prefers to drive the others despite them being worth some serious money as he would rather enjoy them than to have them sit on display. His cars have been featured in magazines and many people admire his "balls" for driving them like he does.
  9. Kinda the same thing isn't it Tom, or are you a stickler for perfection?
  10. I once worked for a family owned company and the father and son were car collectors, to the point where they had a separate facility for their cars that had been restored or were all original. During the first week of employment, my boss walked me into the back of the warehouse and showed me an original 57 T-Bird with Supercharger that had once been owned by Clark Gable. It was parked in the loading dock area, covered in dirt and semi trucks backed in everyday to load/unload just a couple of feet away! Then he takes me to another part of the warehouse where sitting under a dirty canvas tarp is an original Cobra 427! It was on jackstands and supposedly the owner had been working on it 10 years earlier and then had some health issues and left it as is. I offered to finish it if I could drive it and was politely told "NO" ! In a separate storage room he shows me a 426 Hemi, a 409, a couple of 427 Twin Cam Fords and other assorted engine blocks and heads from various 60's muscle cars. Most of us, given the opportunity to own the cars I mentioned, would probably have them in a climate controlled garage and wax them dutifully because we would be honored to have them, while a guy who is a millionaire and bought these cars when they were cheap doesn't think anything about leaving them sitting out in a warehouse exposed to all kinds of potential damage! The old adage is true- some people have more money than brains.
  11. Looks great, nice scratch building! I have one of those trucks to finish myself!
  12. Contact Casey, he might know of some sources.
  13. My thoughts exactly! Nice details and execution.
  14. Bob, You are welcome. I think it is right to post such information, especially when the service is outstanding, as well as when it is disappointing.
  15. I will take one, but only if Jungle Pam comes with it!
  16. Just wanted to remind people what a great guy Norm Veber is. I placed an order a couple of weeks ago and he called me yesterday to tell me it was shipped and I should see it on Monday. Great! Looking forward to it I said. He goes on to tell me that a couple of things that I ordered were no longer available from him and he forgot to enclose the refund check with the order so he sent that separately. No problem I told him, thanks for the call. Still not done, Norm goes on to tell me where I can find a better version of what I had wanted, along with the kit number and why it is a better part than his resin copy. I again told him thanks and to have a great weekend, I appreciated the information and I would be looking to order from him again. Now I have to ask, how many times do we hear on this forum about a lack of communication from resin vendors? More than I can begin to remember. Norm's efforts yesterday are the reason why he does a great business, because he cares! In the last month I have placed 3 different resin orders and all three were fantastic to deal with. Chief Joseph The Modelhaus R and M of Maryland Co. The last two do not have pictures of their products but yet I do not hesitate to order from them as I relied on others experience to start buying from them and will continue to do so! I hope others will look past the issue of product pictures and realize what great guys Norm and Don Holthaus are and place orders without hesitation.
  17. I think it may have already been mentioned here but Revell will be announcing more than just a few car models and it could be something non-car related that is holding up ALL of their 2014 announcements. In response to Tom's comments above, I am sure the staff at Revell has been tasked with multiple areas of responsibility as that has become the norm in corporate America. As we have seen with the Moebius Ford pickups, communicating all of the necessary changes and updates takes time and when dealing internationally there can be delays due to time zones and waiting on samples. China also celebrates holidays in October and some businesses are shut down the first two weeks of the month. I find it hard to believe that there could be a forum member here who is waiting to buy/build a model based on the 2014 releases from Revell! Many of us have a stash of models into the hundreds and have plenty to build for many years or lifetimes!
  18. Dang it! There you go again coming up with new ways to spend my lunch money! Put me down for 3 sets! Those sure look nice, I imagine they will look even better in person!
  19. Thanks Casey & Rob, even with the Cragar SS wheels I think I will hit the Hobby Lobby and get one of these. Might try my hand at a sleeper car now that this has a bench seat and steelies, just have to decide what powerplant to use.......
  20. Thinking about heading to Atlanta for the Southern NNL hosted by the ACME club, but I can't find a date for it! I know they usually have it in mid-November. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
  21. I know this kit has the steel wheels for the drag version, which "mag" wheels are in this version? The ones I bought years ago had the Cragar SS chrome 5 spokes and the box art on this release show ones that appear a little different from the Cragars. I think I will have to get one of these, even if I already have several of the earlier ones!
  22. After reading through this post I am inclined to get rid of this model from my stash. I would rather wait until a new tool is offered than to struggle with this kit. I appreciate the information these posts provide, keep them coming!
  23. Why? I , like many others, have been looking forward to these. What has changed your mind?
  24. I placed an order before these pix were here ( have bought many times before) and was ready to add the Shasta trailer kit but darn if they didn't get my order out in less than 2 weeks! Guess I will have to place another order soon! No hesitation from me to buy from Don and Carol and a lack of pictures on their website should not worry potential buyers.
  25. I have waited this long, a couple more months to get a better product is well worth it to me! I have a few kits (ha ha ) to tide me over until then. As others have said, many thanks to your efforts and those of the Moebius team to get these kits as accurate as possible while bringing us something highly desired.
